Hello - wondering if anyone can explain this error? A client received it twice after clicking on a public survey link from survey123. On the third try, he was able to get through to the survey but I am hoping to avoid this error in the future if possible.

Thanks! I got the webhook set up in Integromat following Survey123 Tricks of the Trade: Editing records in a web form. I tested the service and it worked (click submit> email sent to survey taker with a link to edit the survey response). However, a client just took the survey, and when they clicked submit they received an error: "Failed to submit...operation rolled back. operation rolled back. operation rolled back. operation rolled back. strong or binary data would be truncated. the statement has been terminated." see attached. Thus, the data never saved and was lost. Yet, the client still received an email with a link for him to edit the survey, even though the error said the survey was never submitted. When you click the link, it takes you to the survey and a new error message appears "Editing is not possible because the record specified by the objectID parameter cannot be found" Can you explain any of this or help me fix whatever underlying issues may have caused this error? The worst part is that we lost all the data from that survey.

James, Is there any way to use the date type and the year appearance to get a 4 digit year in your data, without having to add a hidden row with that calculation? int(format-date(${q}, "%Y")) worked for me if I added it to a new row in XML as a hidden data type, but not if I included it in the original line of data.

Thanks for the reply. Reading through the link you sent, it is not clear if someone without an arcgis account can edit a link. Is it the "web hook" approach that you are suggesting? With this, can anyone update their survey answers? Can anyone edit any survey answers, or just their own? Is the field app something open to the public? My understanding was that someone needed an app on their phone to use this service, which would be a high order for someone taking a public survey.... Are there any other creative solutions to saving data mid-survey? For example, could you link 2 surveys such that when someone clicks "submit", the data is saved and sent and a second survey opens to add the rest of the data? Thank you

I have a fairly long survey I am implementing and that is a public survey. During test runs, it is sometimes not possible to complete the survey in one sitting. In other times, if someone has a bad internet connection, they lose the survey. Is there any way to configure the survey to auto save (like in the field app) or add a "Save" button so that the data goes into the arcgis online database? Can the submit button be added to different pages? I fear losing the data that has already been entered if someone intentionally or unintentionally closes the survey before clicking "submit". If neither of the above options are available, what are some creative solutions to backing up data once it has been entered, but before it has been submitted?

I am building an advanced survey in Connect that is to be published for public access on the web app. However, much for the text formatting in connect is lost in the web app. For example, I notice that my welcome text on the first page turns to bold when published in the web app. Similarly, labels are always published as bold in the web app, yet there were some areas that I wanted to be regular text and others bold in those labels. Can this be changed? Lastly, I've noticed that answer choices in the web app are a very light gray color whereas in the Connect app, they are darker and easier to see. Can this be changed? Can someone explain what formatting attributes are preserved or lost when building a survey in Connect that is published on the web? Thanks!

I have a date field for year, and I would like the default to be blank. It seems the default instead is the current year. How do I change this?

I am also getting the error code: 400 "unable to create folder" when I try to publish a new survey. Can you clarify where to look for "the folder named 'Survey-<Survey Name>' in your Content". I am not sure where this is. Any other advice for fixing the error?

I love the idea of the single choice grid but can't get it to work. I don't have any styles set and am not using field-list. I have a bunch of yes/no select one questions so I started a new group, and in the line of "begin group" I added "table-list" to the appearance. I added a row for each question, then end group - I still don't get the single choice grid format - what am I missing?

Hi Shwu-jing, Thanks for this response. We are not actually collecting field data but instead sending around survey questionnaires to a broad audience to collect data from conservation experts. Thus, I assume the web-app is my only option, correct? Are there other nested repeat work-arounds? One reason why I went to nested repeats (besides having repeat data needs) is because I need more than one location data entry in my survey. When I went to publish with multiple location data needs, I received an error saying that you can't publish a survey with more than one geopoint data type unless it is inside a repeat. Thus, I made it into a repeat but it had to be nested. Perhaps there is a work-around on this issue instead? Thanks again.

Hello, I am new to Survey123 and trying to find out what is and what is not available on Connect vs the web app. I want to publish a survey questionnaire in the web app but my survey is relatively advanced, thus I used Connect to build it. For example, I have groups with nested repeats, which is necessary for the kind of survey I need. When I try to publish the survey I receive an error in "initializing form".... "Currently, nested repeats are not supported in the web app" I have seen on multiple forums that nested repeats are indeed available in the web app. What am I missing here and is there a work-around? Thank you!

I am creating a survey using the theme-grid pages style. I have one group of questions, and within it I have multiple subgroups of questions, including repeats. For some of these sub- groups, I want them side-by side. This seems to be the default under this style and is easy to do. But for other sub-groups I want them to take up a whole row and not be split up side-by-side (I want them to look like the grid repeats sequence sample provided in the Grid Themes and Groups Sample in Survey123 Connect). However, no matter how much I try to configure the Wx appearance, I can't seem to get my sub-groups in sequence - they all just end up side-by-side. Does anyone know how to change this appearance given that it is a sub-group inside a larger group? Thanks!
