It is definitely possible. I save my projects and files like this outside of OneDrive just to avoid this issue. Side note, your OneDrive path says you're at University of Virginia. I'm at Georgia Tech. I'd love to talk to you about how you guys use GIS and Indoors if you have the time.

I see. I misunderstood your question. Have you tried creating layer views that are filtered and shared appropriately for the app? https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/10.9.1/use/create-hosted-views.htm That is the way we handle similar situations where we want to share a subset of the data, or provide a filtered view for a specific app.

Hopefully, you've found a solution for this by now. If not, the best solution I've found to this is to go 2 different routes. 1. Provide the data/maps to users with custom web apps that are linked on a user accessible web page. (Either using Hub, Experience Builder, or a custom website.) 2. The second option is to provide more user training on how to filter and search for the correct content in AGOL. We're taking both approaches and have built out some instructional story maps to share with our users (on the same page that we share pre-built apps for them).

That error is saying that you have those values in the list more than once. Scroll down and see if they show up again near the bottom. If so, remove the second version of them. One other note, it looks like you have your label and code columns switched. Last, did you mean you "do NOT want to use a domain"?

If it is just minor changes, I make those in Map Viewer in AGOL. That way the data connections are not broken in ExB. If you have to update the data using ArcPro, then you can open the web map from the Portal tab in Catalog and edit the data in the AGOL service using ArcPro.

Do you have the domain registered in DNS in your network settings? You should be able to ping your FQDN from the command line successfully. You say you can't get node.js to listen to it, but your original post mentioned that you didn't have the domain entered into the allowed list (I assume in your portal settings). You can send me a direct message if you want to see if I can provide any more help with specifics (like domain names or IP addresses) that you don't want to post here.

If there is no domain in your entry, then it isn't a Fully Qualified Domain Name. You will need a full domain name for it to register correctly. Are you trying to do this on your desktop/laptop or on a server?

If you have access to the ESRI training site, there are plenty of education options there as well. Those range from short tutorials up to multi-day instructor-led classes. (Although, they have varying degrees of cost as well.) If you want something on your resume, follow their learning paths there and get one of the ESRI certifications based on your area of expertise (and taking one of their certification tests).

I've had this issue come up as well. I think the issue for me was conflicting/non-unique Unit IDs for 2 separate buildings.

I created an Indoors map in ArcGIS Pro using the licensed Indoors tools. I published the layers to AGOL where we have Indoors licensed. I created the map and configured all the layers to be floor aware in the settings of the Map Viewer. I created an Indoors Viewer App, but on the first screen, I get an error on the first page of the Configure App screen. 'No categories' and 'No Units layer' for the map I selected. I understand the 'No categories' error since I didn't create any categories. However, there is a units layer defined on the map, and the floor aware filter works for this map (see screenshot). I'm not sure what it is looking for or what I have missed that would cause this error.

You can read through the schema documentation and get an idea of what fields are required to make the database. You'll need the Indoors license to use their data management tools and pre-configured apps, but you can make an Indoors compliant database without using those licensed tools. The minimum fields needed for the room layer (called Units in Indoors) are LEVEL_ID (for the floor filter), UNIT_ID (unique room number), and FACILITY_ID (building the floor is in). Other layers that are required to make things works include FACILITIES (building footprint), SITE (overall collection of facilities), and LEVELS (individual floor outlines). All of those require a portion of those minimum fields listed above (e.g. LEVELS would have all but the UNIT_ID field). Justin Anderson wrote a blog post about how to use floor plans without an Indoors license, so that might be worth looking up and reading through.

The first problem I had was that I entered my server and my desktop into the list of "Trusted Servers" instead of the "Allowed origins" section. I had originally added our top level domains to the allowed origins list, thinking that would cover all of our servers, but I discovered that domain wildcards are not allowed in that list. (Which seems like an odd limitation.) Adding my server name and my desktop FQDN to the allowed origins list fixed the issue for me.

"I can only get it to work with AGOL." I'm still getting this error even using AGOL. Even after adding my machine's FQDN to the allow list, I still get the CORS error when trying to register the app on my desktop. Am I missing something obvious here?

I have seen this error a couple of times, but figured it was just a bug after the recent AGOL update. However, it is happening again (after not seeing it for a few days). When I publicly share a map (this one has a single read only view layer shared publicly and uses the ESRI Community basemap), I get a error when I save the map that says I don't have permission to update an item in the map. I understand this error, and I generally find it to be helpful. However, this error is telling me that I don't have permission to update the sharing of the Community basemap that is added to the map. This happens with other basemaps as well, but the Community one is what I used for the screenshot that is attached. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong?
