Similar issue here. Got an email from a faculty member grading student projects and was able to reproduce on my end. The solution we found is to refresh until the StoryMap randomly loads. Less than ideal.

I'll second the thanks for the code. Very helpful. I'll also second the licensing discrepancy. Any word on this?

In AGOL on the table's Overview page, if you click to Update the table, does it only give you the option to Append? If so, the script will fail on overwrite, IME. My solution was to set a field in the hosted table as Unique. This adds the Overwrite option in AGOL, and allows the overwrite function to work. The problem I'm running into now is that as soon as I use the table in a hosted join layer, the unique option switches back to No and I get an error saying there are duplicates (there aren't) when I try to switch it back.

Thanks, Nathan. I'm not sure if this applies to your workflow. I'm adding and updating features using the ArcGIS API for Python to updated hosted feature layers on AGOL. Specifically, I'm using the edit_features method. In my case, I narrowed the issue down to "=" in quoted URL strings. For instance, the "=" characters in this part of your string drawingNo=JO-P-0004&searchName=JO-P-0004 would have caused my script to fail. I replaced them with "%3D", and the script is running fine. I also had some unsupported tags that I had to take care of, and I'm still doing some testing, but that was my major hangup, and I've been able to move forward since fixing it.

I'm having the same issue. The overwrite method essentially restores the Feature Service to its state when initially published, or last overwritten via desktop tools. I can delete all the features from a feature layer (from Pro, or from a Web Map), run the overwrite method, and my feature layer is back to the way it was prior to the deletes. John, are you able to provide a basic sample using the publish method? I'm have some trouble with the publish_parameters.

We're having the same issue when trying to update a hosted feature service in AGOL using Python. It also appears to be causing issues when copying content in AGO Assistant. Any luck with this?

I'm working on creating a large number of flight routes, constrained by ETOPS. I've been using the Cost Connectivity tool using costs rasters that represent the ETOPS constraints. I then run the resulting routes through the Geodetic Densify tool, which works great for routes with mid-line vertices that indicate flight path changes. However, straight-line routes go well outside the constraint boundaries. This is not unexpected, but what I'm wondering is, is there a way to create geodesic line features that are constrained by a raster or polygon? If not, is there an ideal projection for this sort of global analysis? I've been playing with World Azimuthal Equidistant and Sphere Two Point Equidistant. Both have their own sets of issues, not the least of which is wildly inaccurate distances. However, consistency is a greater concern than accuracy. ETA: I'm aware of the ability to calculate geodesic length using Field Calculator, and that's probably where I'll end up. I'd like to fine-tune the route creation, and honestly, I like the visual that the great circle routes provide.

Hey Andrew Can you explain this step, please? Before using in ArcGIS Online the ArcGIS Server must be CORS enabled, including if necessary adding your ArcGIS Online Organization url (e.g. https://myorganisation.maps.arcgis.com) to the allowed host names in the ArcGIS Server Admin Directory. If I click the link, it takes me to the help section for enabling/disabling access to the services directory. I can't find anything on adding allowed hosts. Thanks!

Chad, thanks for this. I've tried to make this work, and am not having any luck. Just to clarify, "DOMAIN", "USERNAME" and "PASSWORD" are the correct values, and not placeholders for actual domain and login information? Do you know if HTTPS is required to make this work? That's the only thing I can think of that's preventing this from working.

Anybody have any insight into this? I'm a Silverlight API person moving to the Javascript world. With Silverlight, Windows Authentication just works. I've set up the proxy, and it seems to be working as far as cross-domain requests, but I'm not having any luck getting it to work with services that are secured with Windows Authentication. I have a simple Javascript site. The site is secured with Windows Authentication, and my services are secured with Windows Authentication. Even trying to access a service through the proxy directly isn't working. I'd love if somebody could provide some insight, as I'm not sure how to proceed.

The symbology is defined in the service (in the mxd). I'm not changing the symbol, just how it behaves, if that makes sense. Regarding the code I posted above. With 3.1, g.symbol is not null, and contains the specific symbol information for each graphic. In 3.2, g.symbol is null.
