I also have this issue, I am trying to edit a polygon feature class in a file geodatabase with less than 200 polygons and can make it less than 5 minutes before having a system crash and getting kicked out of ArcGIS. Aside for being extremely frustrating for me, we are set to upgrade our large user base in the next week or so to 10.6.1. As part of the technical support team I currently cannot deal with this on MY machine, nor the hundred or so people who will be upgraded. Is there a fix for this, or is it something we need to live with?

This same thing happened to me. I suspect the solution will be the same.

I finally figured out what the problem was, the expression statement wasn't formatted correctly. original - expression = '"LABEL = ' + closNum + '"' since the orginal closNum variable had the single quotes already in it. revised (after I removed the single quotes from the closNum variable) - expression ="Label = \' " + closNum + "\'" Thanks Donna Riebe Montana DNRC OIT/GIS

Yes, I then equipped with a list of labels that are aren't currently being used, as field folk add records, I can add a unique label to the record.

Greetings, I am writing some code that puts in an expression into a SelectLayerByAttribute statement and am running into a problem. I am generating a running sequence of numbers (closNum) that are made into text. (using an SDE geodatabase FYI) closNum = "'" + '{:05d}'.format(i) + "'" When I print that out it looks like closNum = '00000' I generate an expression statement expression = '"' + ' LABEL = ' + "'" + closNum + "'"+ '"' which prints out as " LABEL = '00000'" What I would like to do is put that into my layer selection query arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(closureLyr, "NEW_SELECTION", expression) So when I run that, I get an invalid expression error, but if I run arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(closureLyr, "NEW_SELECTION", " LABEL = '00000'"), it works just fine. Somehow I am missing something but I can't figure out what. Any help would be awesome Actual code below import string, arcpy from arcpy import env arcpy.env.overwriteOutput = True inFC = 'Database Connections/GISTLMD on DNRHLN6341 as TLMD_FMB_MGR - FMB_RoadInventory.sde/GISTLMD.TLMD_DO.FMB_RoadClosures' closureLyr = 'closureLyr' count = 1 arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management(inFC,closureLyr) for i in range(0,10,1): # print '{:05d}'.format(i) closNum = "'" + '{:05d}'.format(i) + "'" expression = '"LABEL = ' + closNum + '"' arcpy.AddMessage(expression) arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(closureLyr, "NEW_SELECTION", expression) # arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(closureLyr, "NEW_SELECTION", "LABEL = '00000'") result = arcpy.GetCount_management(closureLyr) cnt = int(result.getOutput(0)) if cnt == 0: arcpy.AddMessage(expression + ' is missing') count = count + 1 #count = count + 1 if count == 5 : break Donna

I have just started seeing this occur. Our setup is the same as yours, secured service hitting our SDE, individual versions for each user hitting collector. I also have an auto reconcile script that runs nightly. We are having occasional sync errors, but they do not seem to be related to this issue.

After struggling with this for some time, the simple answer seemed to be that while we had upgraded our DESKTOPS to 10.1, the SDE database was still at 9.3. That simply wouldn't work. So after IT finally updated the geodatabase AND we figured out which file it kept asking for, the new replica I created syncs back and forth without a hitch. Thanks for everyones input. Donna

I like pyScripter, but the random program freezing is making me crazy. Waiting 5 - 10 minutes for the program to unlock when I haven't even done anything is annoying. Donna Riebe MT DNRC

I may be able to help you, but I need to make a few assumptions and/or ask some questions. Are you using SQL Server or Oracle? . I am using SQL express on my computer, the main database in Helena is Sql Server. I t sounds like you're interested in creating a two-way replica but I cannot be sure. I am going to use Oracle as my basis for some of the answers for the time being. ...Snip other helpful stuff... . Yes, I am trying to do a two way replica. And to be honest (and as a warning 🙂 ), my sql server skills are pretty minimal, but I am pretty decent at following directions. Thanks for the help.

Greetings, I am having problems creating a new replica based on my version on the sde database on my local machine. Our main sde database is located in the capital and editing across the distance has been slow, so having a replica locally has worked well. We just recently upgraded to 10.1, but the sde database is still at 9.3. My problems started when I tried syncing my replica to my version on the sde database for the first time after we were upgraded. My replica was corrupted and I have been unable to create a replacement. I have tried multiple machines, all the data, 1 feature class only , both two-way and check-out replicas, but the process crashes almost immediately and I get a 000582 error when using my version. Also there is an error message stating that the version was not found. Although I can connect to and view the data in my version with no problem in both ArcGIS and ArcCatalog. I do seem to be able to create a checkout replica from DEFAULT from the sde database, just not my version. Any help on this would be appreciated. Greetings, I am trying to edit a checked out file geodatabase (created from a 9.3 sql server sde version) using 10.1 sp1. I can occasionly save new features that I create, or create then cut into two, but generally if I try to edit something that already exists I get an error message that says "Unable to save edits. Unexpected operation [ORG_Parcels]' Parcels is the name of my feature class. I have had this copy of ArcGIS for about three weeks now and was previously able to edit and save to a different checked out geodatabase from the same version. I have tried to edit this same checked out database in the office with 9.3 and 10.0 and it saves just fine (with 9.3 same machine it was created on, 10.0 is a different computer). I now suspect it is a 9.3 vs. 10.1 issue. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Thank you Donna Riebe IT/GIS MT DNRC
