Thanks for the reply - 1. License Manager on v10.4. We recently replaced the server that the ArcGIS License Manager was loaded on. When we loaded it on a new server, we loaded the latest version since it was supposedly compatible with ArcGIS Desktop v10.2.2. We have about 90 desktops here and they will be migrated to Desktop version 10.4 later this year. 2. Reserved List - I'm glad to hear we aren't the only ones have this problem. I don't think it's ever worked well. We have 10 concurrent Advanced licenses, 6 of which are supposed to be dedicated to 6 individuals (they will be purchasing more concurrent licenses shortly). But it's not assigning them correctly. When a reserved user logs on, it may connect to a reserved license or it may not connect to a non-reserved license. We see the second case most often, and this now uses up two licenses for the one user since it still has a reserved license unavailable to anyone else. And sometimes it connects with the userid in lower case, sometimes in initial caps. We've tried making sure the opt file userids match the Active Directory, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. My Network Analyst researched the reserved list in the 10.4 version and tried setting up a reserved group, then assigning users to it. But it still is not working correctly. Here's the new opt file that we put into place last night: GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE ON GROUP G1 BDavidson cmullan DRedden bedalton MPlyler CGoforth RESERVE 6 ARC/INFO GROUP G1 I'll check with my ArcGIS Administrator, but I'd like to just enter a trouble call with ESRI to try and get this resolved. If I get anywhere I will most certainly share. 3. Tracker extension - I checked 2-3 users, but they don't have the Tracking extension turned on, and I don't think we own it. If it's not causing any problems, I'll leave it be as well. Thanks

We're using License Manager v 10.4. In the log, I see on user with repeated lines seconds apart all day long, every day: 9:30:06 (ARCGIS) IN: "ARC/INFO" bedalton@115922A 9:30:25 (ARCGIS) OUT: "ARC/INFO" bedalton@115922A This user is listed in the opt file as having a reserved ARC INFO license. Any idea why? ============= In addition, there are numerous 'UNSUPPORTED' ... (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS) messages for different users and different UNSUPPORTED items - example: 9:30:54 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) cgoforth@115841A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:29:42 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "VBA" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) cgoforth@115841A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:06:19 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) bedalton@115922A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:06:30 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) bedalton@115922A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:07:02 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) bedalton@115922A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:07:39 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) bedalton@115922A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:07:56 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) bedalton@115922A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) 9:08:27 (ARCGIS) UNSUPPORTED: "Tracking" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) bedalton@115922A (License server system does not support this feature. (-18,327)) We're using ArcGIS Desktop v10.2.2, License Manager version 10.4. Are these messages specific to a map document or extension? Thanks

Hello - I've created a custiomized add in and assigned it to an application configuration. None of my users are currently using application configurations. To deploy, my program creates a shortcut pointing to the .ncfg file which says 'open this specific map'. My test user gets the white error message when exiting out of arcgisexplorer. "ArcGIS Explorer has encountered a serious application error and is unable to continue". Do I have to deploy a new settings1500.xml with the .ncfg and .nmf file in it? If so does it only have to be copied to c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\settings1500.xml? Please tell me everything I have to include in my deployment program. Thank you very much!

Brian - I've found that in order to sort multiple columns I have to use IComparer and found a function. But it only works with String fields, so I have to figure out how to Cast or convert the value of the two numeric fields I want to sort to strings - you've had the same problem yes? Meanwhile, I had a hard time finding how to specify the fields with the datagridview autogenerated. Haven't looked into setting autogenerate = False. Will let you know what I find as well. Thanks Donna

Hi Brian - Sorry not to respond sooner - I was gonna test a little but haven't gotten there. I'll tell you about the next item I'm struggling with in a sec (smile). A few random thoughts on your issue - I may be missing what you're saying - 1) So is the File number a text field? I used the UCase in a variable to set the case for the textbox input string, then referenced the variable in the search criteria. - we may be doing this a little differently. I'm using Table.OpenShapefile("path") which may be causing me more troubles. 2) If you have to convert (CAST is convert yes?), can you use the same method - converting in a string to a variable? 3) If the file number is numeric, would >+ or <= in the search string help? My current headache: I need to sort on multiple columns in my datagridview. I'd like the datagridview to only have a few fields from the table and try to sort them that way, but I can't seem to get there from here. Not sure I'm any help, but misery loves company, yes? Happy Monday Donna

Brian - Hope this helps..it worked for me. Not much different from Margo's so I'm curious to see if it works for you as well.. Dim StreetString As String = UCase(StreetSearch.Text) Dim BuildTable As Table = Table.OpenShapefile("C:\Maps\ArcGISExplorer\Intersections.shp") searchFilter.WhereClause = "STREET like'" + StreetString + "%'" (I Was at your 'join' date - but I see where to find the post date now - thanks!) Hi Brian - Did you find a way to do this? I have a similar situation and thought Type Ahead functionality might do the trick.. so I'm investigating how to do that? I know your post was a while ago, thanks for your time Donna

I've written a vb.net app that queries addresses from feature classes on the hard drive. I started with the Query Features sample from the ArcGISExplorer SDK. From input in a text box, it queries a feature class then populates a datagrid. From the datagrid you click on the address you want, it zooms you to the map and places a pushpin on the address. This works, but I really need type ahead functionality for the user input, so that the list of candidates builds as they type each letter of the street name. Can I add type ahead functionality to my current setup, or do I need to use a combo box for the input field and the candidates list? I found some sample code on a vb.net site for using type ahead with a text box (attached). I'm not sure how to put this all together. I'm definitely a beginner, any patient help will be so so appreciated! Thank you - Donna

I got this to work - needed to fix my syntax. To use the ZoomToMapScale I needed to put: md.ZoomToMapScale("8000", geom) (where md = my active map display and geom = the address geometry for the result row) now when I search for my address it finds it, zooms to map scale 1:8000 and places a pushpin graphic on the map. Thanks for all the help!! Donna Charlie - I've written a little vb.net app to provide them the ability to search from the package layer file or gdb table file on their hard drive. I'm new at all this so it may not be very well written - but I'll be happy to share this with you if would like. But I can't seem to get it to zoom to whatever layer or 'altitude' is equivalent to the Zoom To Street level from the Map ZoomTo dropdown. Any ideas?
