Thanks Joshua! I figured out the solution for the mentioned problem. We have to set properties of GP tool in "Source" tab as "Python script out Process" (means uncheck "Run Python script in Process"). After setting the above properties run the GP tool and publish its result as GP service as per regular process. Regards, Dinesh Patil.

Hello, I have published one script tool as a GP service, and it is used to find closest facility for incidents with multi-processing functionality. I have referred Create a script tool that uses multiprocessing to set properties of script tool. It works fine in ArcMap, also executed through IDE (PyCharm) with hard coded input values. I tried to execute the GP service through 'REST' end but it stuck at the point where multiprocessing is called. Below, I have attached the code snippet, and the script stuck after the highlighted syntax line. I was unable to figure out why this problem is occurred. I have also published one sample script as a GP service which creates 4 KM buffer around point feature and clipped features from other feature class which falls within that buffer, and the scripts works fine through ArcMap as well as REST end of GP service. But the GP service with 'find closest facility' for incident not working through GP service. Please help me out! Thanks! Dinesh Patil.

Hello, I have been using the multiprocessing module to do network analysis's 'find closest facility' task for number of incidents in ArcMap 10.2.1. I have written python script which works fine if I run it in IDLE. I see all my cores max out in Task Manager and the code completes without error. Now if I executes this script as a Script Tool in ArcToolbox it throws a following error "Could not find file: from multiprocessing.forking import main; main().mxd" As per ESRI Blogs, I regularly see that the script has to be "run out of process". So I unchecked the check box "run python in process" in the script properties dialog, and run the script tool. But the script tool starts execution and complete it without any processing. So I followed the Create a script tool that uses multiprocessing blog and do changes in my script as per mentioned in a blog. Still the script tool execute without any processing. Thanks! Dinesh.

Hello, I am trying to assign labels to feature layer using advance python labelling. The label are fetching from feature layer related table using following python script logic, which is given at ESRI Tech Support How To: Label a related table def FindLabel ([keyField], [FirstLabel]):
import arcpy
key1 = [keyField] # Key field in feature class
key2 = "ID" # Key field in related table
L = [FirstLabel] # Label field in feature class
L2 = "Label2" # Label field in related table
myDataTable = r"<path-to-related-table>" # Path to related table
cur = arcpy.da.SearchCursor(myDataTable, [key2, L2])
for row in cur:
if str(key1) == str(row[0]):
L = L + " " + str(row[1])
return L The label are appearing in 'ArcMap' window. While publishing the feature layer as a Map Service; In the publishing preview window the labels do appear, but not in the finished service.

Hello Dan, I performed the "find closest facility" task in ArcGIS Desktop 10.4.1, and it executed successfully. So there is no need to reduce the size of input facility dataset.

I am unable to solve a closest facility problem in ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.2 with ArcPy. I was performing 'FindClosestFacilities' task of network analyst. During the processing, I received following error message: "A geoprocessing error occurred. ERROR 001156: Failed on input OID '32769', could not write value '32769' to output field ORIG_FID Failed to execute (FeatureClassToFeatureClass). Failed to execute (FindClosestFacilities)."

Hello, I was performing 'FindClosestFacilities' task of network analyst. During the processing, I received following error message: "A geoprocessing error occurred. ERROR 001156: Failed on input OID '<value>', could not write value '<value>' to output field ORIG_FID Failed to execute (FeatureClassToFeatureClass). Failed to execute (FindClosestFacilities)." Network analyst's 'FindClosestFacilities' tool creates the 'TempInput' feature class of its facility input feature class. The facility input feature class 'OBJECTID' field data type is 'Object ID' and TempInput feature class 'ORIG_FID' field data type is 'SHORT INT'. (Example: If facility feature class OBJECTID values is greater than 32767 then the tool is unable to copy that OBJECTID value to ORIG_FID filed of 'TempInput' feature class. Because the short int data type range is -32767 to 32767. ERROR 001156: Failed on input OID '32769', could not write value '32769' to output field ORIG_FID) The 'FeatureClassToFeatureClass' internal operation throws above mentioned error due to the field datatypes mismatching. How we can manage field-mapping for above task? Please suggest solution for the above problem.Thanks! Dinesh Patil

I am also facing the same problem to get Legends for only visible map extent. I have created the mxd template in which the legend properties have been set as "Only show classes that are visible in the current map extent". However "Export Web map task" is not honouring this setting. ArcGIS for Server versions 10.3.1 and onward.
