The problem was that I was calculating the angle for the marker symbol variable, rather than each instance of the symbol added to the graphics array. I changed the loop where the graphics are added, so that each new addition created a new instance of the marker symbol with its own angle calculated. Now the orientation of the symbol stays consistent.

I am working on a web application that has several Graphics Layers, with ArcGIS JS API 3.8 (AMD). These layers add Picture Marker Symbols at specific and unique angles to the midpoints of line segments, which are located by a query. The angle is calculated by finding the each line segment's beginning and end nodes, and using those x/y coordinates to calculate the bearing (the picture is an arrow, signifying street direction). This is working for the initial rendering of the graphics, but if I zoom in or out of the map, the graphics redraw all alt the same angle. My guess is that this has something to do with the timing of the rendering; the graphics are rendering before the correct angle for each new graphic is re-calculated. How can I correct this problem?

I changes some parameters in my Python script, and now I can run it in 64-bit. These seems to have eliminated my particular problem; I am no longer getting this error.

I received this error using ArcGIS for Server 10.2 when I tried to publish from an mxd in my C:/Users/user/Desktop folder. Once I moved the mxd and data to a folder higher in the directory structure (to C:/newFolder), I no longer had the error. I assume this was a permissions issue; this does seem to be (another) one of those ESRI errors which the error description itself is not really related to the actual problem.

I should also mention that the services created before the error is thrown appear to be on and working, but the Python script fails on the error and subsequent services are not created. Also, all of my layers are turned off by default.

I am having this same problem when I run a Python script to create map services on ArcGIS for Server 10.2. I can manually publish a service from the same mxd on the same server. This error is causing my script to end prematurely. Has anyone found a solution? Is anyone from ESRI reading this? Thanks,

I am trying to delete a map service on ArcGIS 10.2 for Server using Python 2.7 and the ArcGIS for Server Administrator API as shown in this example: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) I have not yet been able to successfully run this script. I have tried with and without a token. I found a workaround, although I am not entirely sure why it works:I just first exported the table as a file gdb table, into my home gdb..then I used that new table to display X Y data and 'export data' from that new event layer...this worked without any errors.

Hi, I imported a few tables from SQL Server that have X Y columns. I first used 'Display X Y data' to view the rows (points), and they display as expected. But when I try to use 'Export Data' to a feature class, I get an error saying "Table Not Found". I don't see any problem with the attribute tables of the Event layers (no null rows, no odd characters that I can see...). What am I doing wrong here?I have done this many times before without any problems. Thanks, Jason

I should note that I want to have different transparency level for different layers in the map service, so setting the opacity using the Javascript API won't do. I realize I can add several services specifying opacity for different map layers within the map service, but I would prefer to not add several map services to display one map.

I created a map using Kernel Density, then Raster clip to the city boundaries. I added 50% transparency to the layer in the MXD. When I publish and add to the webapp as a Dynamic map service (10.2), instead of transparency I get a heat map with all the 'NoData' area colored grey, and the map service layer iscompletely covering the underlying features with no transparency. How can I get transparency with this layer?

I have a raster heat map, that uses a stretched classification. I would like this to start from fully transparent for low levels up to a color for high levels. The problem is, when I set the low level to 'NoColor' in the Symbology properties, the displayed value isn't really no color, but grey. When I apply No Color value to a point symbol, the point is actually transparent. This is what I would like to have. Now instead, I have grey covering my map. Is there some workaround for this? see sample attachment below. the grey is 'NoColor' in the stretched raster (covering the map below). The points are also 'NoColor' and are fully transparent. Thanks for the ideas. I am not sure if converting to a polygon is feasible, as this will be for over 60 maps which will be published as map services and will need to be very responsive in a web application to a (jqwidget) time slider, zoom/pan and toggle events. I imagine the lack of transparency of classes within a layer is on purpose; I would guess most people would not want this functionality. I am not too sure about cross hatching the point either; I hope that the points will be very precise and tight when viewing the map at a close-up zoom level. There are a few thousand points in each map, all in a relatively small area (the five boroughs) But I will look into the ideas here, thanks for input!

Craig,I tried that, but I think that only works with polygon layers. Even in that case, I am not sure if the transparency is maintained withinclasses in the same layer.
