Thanks Joe, Could the second field (in grades) be calculated "on create" or would I need to fake an edit or something like that ?

Hello, I need to calculate angles in grades (or in gons, angles from 0-400, ideally clockwize from Y axis). I'm wondering whether this could be done with the Attribute assistant add-in but apparently it only calculates angles in degrees. Anyone knows how to automatically calculate angles in grades (gons) ? Kind regards, Timothée

Hello, I need to export data from a feature class attribute table to an existing Excel (.xls) workbook. The workbook has some formatting, so what I need ideally, is a way to write values in the existing workbook. Any suggestions on how to do this using Python ? (Ideally, Python in ArcGIS Pro)

I also ran into this problem in 10.2.2. The batch workaround worked for me as in Tim Norton's post.

Hello Chris, Thank you. Yes that would be a solution. I need to publish the map on ArcGIS Server and it might take a work around to display simple non offset symbols in the table of contents... That's why I was thinking of alternate geometries...

Hi Dan, Thanks for your answer which will help me to define my request better. That would work if I had only two entities but this is just a subset for the example. If I modify the symbol, all other lines with the same symbol would get modified. So nor width, nor a symbol offset would work. Any other suggestions?

Hello ! I’m working with a line feature class in a file geodatabase. I’m need to store an alternative geometry for some of the lines. I need to be able to display either all the original geometries or the mix between original and alternative geometries. Can this be done with geodatabase representations? Your answers and hints will be much appreciated! In the first screen shot below, one line is hidden by the other. In the second screen shot, the line has been represented with an offset but I've lost the original geometry. I need something like an alternate geometry... Tim

Hello ! I have a project in which I need to do a series of tasks related to cartographic representation. In the field of urban planning and transport, a feature class of polylines represents urban projects, such as : new bus line from point A to point B better connexion for pedestrians between point A and point C etc.. Sometimes, the lines representing two different projects overlap and I need to create an alternate geometry for one of the projects. My first question is : what method to apply to detect conflicting lines and how to perform displacement? Is the tool DetectGraphicConflict appropriate to detect conflicts between lines ? To perform the displacement, I was thinking of doing it manually on each feature. The time required would be acceptable. The alternative would be, apparently to use the tool ResolveRoadConflicts. But in this case, I'd need to fill in the hierarchy attribute. My second question is how to maintain the data, and copy it between gdbs and publish a map using the representation I need to be able to edit both the original geometry and the representation seperatly. I need to be able to copy the feature class from a file gdb to an SDE gdb, conserving the representations intact. I need to publish a map to ArcGIS Server which would use the cartographic representation. In the image below, line 10-1b in orange has been displaced. Does anyone out there have experience with using carto representation in a similar situation? Any recommendations or advice? Thanks. Tim

Perhaps this may help someone: I haven't found how to create pie chart symbology in Pro but if you import an mxd with such a symbology, it will display. But you can't modify the symbology in any way.

Thanks to both of you. I had tried the spatial join but I was using the Join Operation "Join one to many" instead of "Join one to one". Still now, I'm not clear why it's "Join one to one" that should be used but it works. The result give a field called Join_Count which counts the number of entities spatially joined.

In ArcMap, there was this very useful join based on spatial location. This enable you to count how many entities, e.g. buildings within each polygon of your input polygon layer, e.g. city boundaries. So you could know how many buildings there were in each city. I can't find any functionality in Pro enabling one to do this. Am I missing something ???
