It looks like it can -- the caveat being you must have an equivalent ArcGIS service account (same credentials) on each site, and both servers need the shared folder to have permissions to this account, as well it needs to be configured as a Cache directory in ArcGIS Server Manager on both sites.

Thanks for the prompt response! At issue here, I think, is that the shared file system is between an internal Staging server and an external Production server. The two servers cannot be clustered, unfortunately.. and as this is a rather huge tile cache of all of Canada, we are trying to save on storage costs. So the sites are indeed separate, but the file system is shared.

I hope someone can lend some insight towards this situation. I have two basemap services across two different 10.1 servers.. they are identical, except one has a tile cache on a common shared drive, and the other service does not yet have a cache assigned. Is it possible to attach the existing cache from the shared drive to the unlinked service -- thereby permitting one tile cache shared across two services on different servers? If so, how would one go about doing this? The Import Map Server Cache function doesn't seem to handle this scenario.

Hello ESRI Community, For several weeks I have been struggling to generate a fairly sizable map cache. The anticipated size of the cache will be about 800GB, with the final level, 14, estimated to be about 530GB. This level 14 generation has failed on me a few times, and this typically results in an ArcCatalog crash. Which means I do not see errors in ArcCatalog about why it crashed. It's taken several days to generated 365GB of the 530GB level. I ran again with "RECREATE_ALL_TILES", and several days later, it crashes again without a good error. Seemingly running the cache creation with "RECREATE_EMPTY_TILES" -- this similarly takes an extremely long time while seemingly not growing the cache size at all. I only seem to get farther along if I delete Level 14 altogether and start over. Because this takes several days per trial, I don't have a lot of attempts under my belt. I wanted to ask here before I continued with this. Two questions: 1. Is there any true way to "resume" a crashed map cache without seemingly starting over? This looks like a good solution if I were receiving errors for certain extents: http://resources.arcgis.com/gallery/file/geoprocessing/details?entryID=5E1F2FE3-1422-2418-88F7-285291B8031D 2. We have had tremendous lag issues with an On Demand map cache in our previous experience, but I would like to look at this again. Since we have a significant portion of the cache generated already, is it possible to use this partial cache and let time "fill in the blanks" by allowing users to generate new tiles on demand? Your insights and expertise are much appreciated, thank you in advance.

Sorry, I didn't want to share the source because it is in many different files and sort of a mess to just paste straight into an online forum. That being said, you were correct that it was a style issue. Our map and the elements above and below it were in the collapsible Dojo TitlePanes... explicitly setting the height of these containers eliminates the "unsynced" issue that we were having. Things are working beautifully now. Thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction!

Let me start with the disclaimer that I am not a formally trained GIS person, but do work on the odd web mapping application. We've got a JSAPI 2.3 web map that displays points on a map, and clicking these points displays an infoWindow showing a little bit of data about the point. Basic stuff. We're faced with a major issue that's been tough to debug. Clicking the symbols on the map doesn't do anything. However, clicking approximately 50 pixels above the point reveals the infoWindow. Now the truly odd part: Sometimes this happens, but once in awhile everything is lined up correctly! Weirder still: If I'm in Chrome or IE9 with their developer consoles to check for errors (there are none reported), everything lines up correctly! Has anyone seen this sort of behaviour, or point me in the right direction for things I should be looking at? Any insights would be very much appreciated.

Hi there, I'm curious if there's a method in the JS API v2.2 that will return back the URL of the current state of the map? For instance, in Google Maps, you can click "Link" at the top, and it will give you an URL that will take you directly to the map as you were viewing it, with all the appropriate parameters. (http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=49.891235,-97.15369&spn=31.500974,79.365234&t=h&z=4) Forgive me if this is a novice question... but I am a novice! Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
