Right... so, I was lurking about despondently, wondering if I might find a solution somewhere in the community forums, when I found a post praising an old post. I decided to rename the folders referenced in said post... and while arcpy isn't happy with me right now, my project hasn't crashed in the last few minutes. That may not seem like much progress, but I can tell you that it is.

I've been having a similar problem of late. Mine seems to happen when I'm interacting with a Layout. Even attempting to close a Layout tab. In fact, it's doing so now. Reminds me a bit of that glitch that'd make Pro crash whenever you tried to mess with a map's symbology, but ESRI managed to produce a patch for that quickly enough. I'm calling the Help Desk tomorrow. I'll post again if I find a solution.

@anonymous User Thank you for posting the Helpful Settings. I was attempting to export a single large layout that included satellite imagery for a colleague, but my own option selection was resulting in ...oddities (blurriness and ever-expanding file sizes). The settings you provided resulted in the smallest file size I'd seen all day, without any 'value-added blurriness.' Slainte mhath! 🦆

No? "We are like mushrooms: sitting in the dark..." and hoping someone eventually finds/posts a solution to this unresolved question that is now over 2 years old. When I saw a new post on this thread, it got my hopes up. 😞

My agency uses iPhones. ...Mine's a bit newer than some: iPhone 6s Plus; iOS c 15.7.5. I took the "Debris Reporter" Template, and tried to edit it for a 'roadkill reporter.' Button Labels: SKUNK RACCOON OPOSSUM COYOTE BOBCAT RED FOX GREY FOX BEAVER BADGER OTTER DEER TURKEY The text being saved in the 'debris' field is the same as the button label. Altering the recorded text doesn't seem to make any difference.

In the interest of using the QuickCapture App While Driving a Vehicle, I have been trying to test the Voice Control for iOS option announced by ESRI last year. The Basic Settings seem straightforward enough. There's a Blog Post: ArcGIS QuickCapture voice control: A step by step guide for iOS. ArcGIS QuickCapture is not designed to be fully operated using voice commands, although it supports the most common actions: - Open ArcGIS QuickCapture: say “Open QuickCapture” - Launch a project from the My Workspace page: say “Open {project name}” - Push a button in your project: say “Tap {button label}” However, the voice command "Tap {button label}" is in reality followed by text on the screen stating, “Say number of desired item,” and the numbers 1 and 2 surrounding a single button. Supposedly, this specificity is for cases in which the text of {button label} occurs more than once: On a text document where the word Geneva appears twice, saying “Select the word Geneva” will select the closest one, place a number next to each instance, and prompt you to “Say number of desired item,” responding immediately to your spoken response of “one” or “two.” From https://bit.ly/3naIfCT But the text of the button label only exists once. I did consider that the information being recorded by QuickCapture may also include the label text, but even changing that, “Say number of desired item" remains. Similarly, if you remove the text label and substitute an image, the issue is removed... as is any way of selecting the button by Voice Control. If I want Field Staff to be able to say "Open QuickCapture..... Open Roadkill Survey..... Tap Deer," and a position for a deer carcass be recorded --all the while said staff member is driving and not looking at their phone-- then text on the screen asking which number they want is unhelpful. Has anyone else run into this problem? Did you find a solution?

I had NO IDEA you could do that with Survey123 forms. It took me 2 days to pick my way through setting up things as you described. And it works!!! 😆

The Head Biologist who knows where everything is is retiring at the end of the month. I've taken the past decade of critter-capture records, and made a nice, clean table. While there is a field called "location," it often holds less than useful geospatial data. "South of Talihina," the number "1," "Cucumber Creek," the name of a town, and vague references to corners of mountains are pretty good for field notes, but not so great for species modeling. I have a Table of Non-Spatial Data. For each record in the Table, I want the Senior Bio to draw a polygon on a map, and save it. I thought creating a Relationship Class between the Table (origin) and the [empty] polygon Feature Class would do it, but only the FeatureClass appears in the Collection Dialog, and it won't even allow me to submit it... probably because I didn't/can't relate it to a tabular, historic record.. Am I on the right road for this? Is Field Maps the best product for this project? I realize this is backwards from the normal Collection workflow, but I'm hoping someone out there has experienced something similar.

Yep. We can't move beyond Pro 2.6 because of this very issue. ...Getting our Admin to OK a server update has proven difficult. We've a different SQL Server version, but This Post was the most helpful in determining our current setup.

I wanted to thank you for posting this. I ran into a similar error that cropped up in FieldMaps. ~My custom scripts were working fine okay* in AGOL and the ExB App, but when viewed from the FieldMaps App would throw 'unknown data type' errors. My initial statement wound up being: Features that would have a related record also had a CATEGORY field value containing the text 'Start' I really ought to revamp the whole thing, I've realized. I don't think a foreign GUID was used. *At some point, the AGOL map was producing "Execution Error:d is null" errors for the same scripts, but it stopped for no reason I can determine.

The Draw/Sketch widget has something like that functionality. (Not very helpful, I realize, but I was browsing others' questions and stopped to look.)

Honestly, this seems a bit much for your first day. Okay, the textbook GIS Fundamentals (6th edition) has a website though the book itself isn't freely available. Instead, their links to the ArcGIS Pro lab exercises may be right up your alley! I recommend reading/watching Labs 1-3 as soon as you can. Then looking at your problem again. A different source: A short video about the Map Projection. A nice wee video about the Projection Tool. Creating a new [empty] feature class, followed by a new polygon. As an alternative to the Create Fishnet tool, the Generate Tessellation tool has some extra benefits (I think). <-Only ESRI sourced document in this post. Good Luck! 🍀

Ah. You are very new to GIS. So, "Feature Classes" are the new type of file that stores/displays some geographic feature. In your case, those are the layers you've named "dot," "okay," "sites," etc. Usually a feature class contains things like "water fountain locations" or "roads." Besides the graphical depiction of the locations, feature classes also contain an attribute table that store all sorts of values attributed to a particular feature. It doesn't really matter what you name them. It'd be best if it is something that makes sense. I might name a linear feature class of trails in a park "P_Trails" and then create a buffered distance polygon feature class from the trails called "P_Trails_bffr30ft." ArcGIS starts acting broken if you have any spaces in the path name or file name, so it's just best to avoid spaces. "Projection" refers to the crazy math used to take what is an oblate spheroid (the planet earth) and display it in a 2-dimensional form (a map, or the PC screen). Thankfully, very few of us actually have to deal with the math. The default projection of ESRI Online maps use the "Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere" spatial reference (also known as WKID 102100). Here's ESRI's intro to the topis for ArcPro: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/properties/coordinate-systems-and-projections.htm What you'll want to do is Reproject whatever Feature Classes will be involved in your analysis, as well as change the Map's projection. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/data-management/project.htm Here's the list of Projected Coordinate Systems: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/properties/list-of-supported-map-projections.htm You should choose one that's best for your project. I'm partial to Albers. Albers Equal Area Conformal Conic, USGS Version is used a lot in my office. ~So then, create a Fishnet, or Tessellation. Also, you might want to create a new Feature Class, as a Polygon, and use the Edit tab to add it to your map as a substitute for that purely graphic black frame.
