With JS 3x, I was able to do an onclick event on GraphicsLayer. This came is handy for moving the points somewhere else, etc. Is there a way to do this in JS4x? Or is this functionality planned for the future? Thank you!

I wondered about that too. Thanks! And thanks for the link. That'll come in handy too.

Hi Robert, I’m trying to use your newest Enhanced Locate Widget (version 2.9.0.1) in my ArcGIS Portal (10.5.1). Currently it’s not loading right. Is there any special customization I need to do in your widget in order for it to work? Or should it work straight out of the box? Thanks!

Yes, this is for the printed legend in the printed map. Is there a way to remove graphics from printed legend but to keep them in printed map?

I did the FeatureLayer thing instead, set legendEnabled to false, but they still show in the legend. Only now they have a long id as the title.

Does GraphicsLayer have the ' legendEnabled' property? I tried setting it to false anyway but it doesn't work. The graphics still appear in the legend.

I’m currently using ArcGIS JavaScript API 4.5 but hope to move to 4.9 soon. Either way, the issue is the same even on my test 4.9 app. I want graphics, such as draw, to show in the printed map but not in the legend. The JS 3.x API would do this but 4.x makes a legend item which says “polygonLayer” and the graphic called “Override 1”. This makes the printed map look silly. (see attached image) I followed advice found here and intercepted the Print request and removed my graphics layers from the operationalLayers in the Web_Map_as_JSON. However, this also removes the graphics from the map. So in 4.x, is there a way to keep graphics in the map but remove them from the legend? Thanks!

I am trying to get the Geoprocessor to work in the Javascript 4.6 API. Here is my code. var fs = new FeatureSet({ "fields": [{ "name": "STREET", "type": "esriFieldTypeString", "alias": "STREET" }], "features": [{ "attributes": { "STREET": "E 1ST AVE" } }] }); var params = { "JsonInputs": fs }; var gp = new Geoprocessor({ url: gpUrl }); gp.submitJob(params).then(gpCallback, gpErrback); This returns an error that says; TypeError: a.toJSON is not a function at dojo.js:1455 at Object.forEach (dojo.js:97) at Object.h._encodeGraphics (dojo.js:1455) at Object.toJSON (dojo.js:1439) at Object._encode (dojo.js:1435) at Object._gpEncode (Geoprocessor.js:12) at Object.<anonymous> (Geoprocessor.js:10) at g (dojo.js:132) at a.extend.then.then.c.then (dojo.js:135) at Object.submitJob (Geoprocessor.js:10) When I post the json directly in the rest service it completes successfully. So the problem must be how my javascript is set up. Any insights would be helpful. Thank you! ----------------------------- Update: I rolled the API back to 3.23 and it works. So is this a bug in 4.6, maybe? Also attaching a screenshot of the rest service parameters, just in case that is helpful. Update April 10, 2018: The error at dojo.js: 1455 is for a function that looks like this: h._encodeGraphics = function(a, e) { var g = []; n.forEach(a, function(a, b) { a = a.toJSON(); var c = {}; if (a.geometry) { var k = e && e; c.geometry = k && k.toJSON() || a.geometry } a.attributes && (c.attributes = a.attributes); g = c }); return g } Is this because the FeatureSet "features" is a Graphic[]? (https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/latest/api-reference/esri-tasks-support-FeatureSet.html#features) What I am trying to do is update a table, so perhaps this is throwing something off because it wants graphics? But like I said, it works if I use 3.23 API. So what is different with 4.6?

Hello all, I work for a county government and we are trying to determine the best way forward with an issue. We have two employees who edit parcel data full time directly in the SDE database. This makes the transaction log in SQL fill up really quick. Recently it has caused errors because it got full. Is this because they are editing the SDE data directly? Eighty hours a week of edits seems like a lot of transactions to log (if I understand things right). So we are talking about switching to replication so they would edit a replica of the data and then it would synchronize at the end of the day (either manually or by script). Would this decrease the transaction log? In other words, would there be one transaction for the synchronizing OR would the synchronization still maintain all their transactions in the replica and log all of them during synchronization? The people who set this system up are no longer here and those of us left have only rudimentary knowledge of SQL and how it all works. Thank you for any advice.

Just an FYI, the managers who built this system have left and I got thrown into the deep end and trying to figure things out as I go. So if I sound like I don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s probably true. The errors do seem to be connected to caching a service. Things were fine until I tried finishing some caching last night and everything went wonky again. So the caching process seems to be the common denominator. JLenhardt, we do have SQL Server Enterprise but those databases work fine. The ones that constantly have connection issues are file geodatabases on a file server. And I’m not sure how to see the version of the fgdb. When I check properties it looks the same as the attached image from before; it does not show the version. Is there a way to check the version of a file geodatabase? Vangelo, what are “network shares of file geodatabases”? When I copied the fgbd to a different server it did open fine. So it might be a networking issue since it’s the caching that seems to be the problem. Do you think services should be run from SQL databases instead? The system is set up like this, as far as I know: --We have a file server with file geodatabases where we publish services from. --There are two ArcGIS Servers with file geodatabases that match the file server geodatabases. Somehow the services run off of these. The cached service uses data from a separate fgdb so I don’t understand why it would cause connection errors on every other fgdb on the file server. Hopefully that made sense and gives a fuller picture of my problems. Thanks for any help given. It is much appreciated.

I’ve been getting strange errors lately when trying to connect to file geodatabases on a server. Attached are a couple screenshots of different error popups. The message is often different but usually says one, more, or all of the follow: Failed to connect to database. FDO error: -1 FDO error: -1 [GDB_Items] FDO error: -1 [GDB_ItemRelationships] FDO error: -1 [GDB_SystemCatalog] This release of the GeoDatabase is either invalid or out of date. [Invalid Geodatabase release] It does not always error. Usually it’s fine but sometimes it errors like this. When it does not error, the properties of the .gdb says the database is current (see attachment). Also (and this may be circumstantial) but it usually seems to happen when I try to publish a cached service. The cache uses vector data from its own databases so I don't know why it would affect all the others, but I wanted to throw that out as well to round out the picture. Does anyone know what this is? Or how to fix it? Should those databases be rebuilt? Thanks!

Thanks to both Bruce and Joe. I’m pretty sure it was a corrupt databsase so I deleted and created a new one from backups. Also, thank you for the suggestion to store locators separately. I moved them and am creating new services and so far they seem to work well.

I'm trying to rebuild and/or delete a locator in a file geodatabase but am getting weird errors. When attempting to delete it says, "Failed to delete selected object(s) A locator with this name does not exist." When attempting to rebuild it says, "Can't rebuild address locator A locator with this name does not exist." But the icon still shows up in ArcCatalog. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Thanks!

Hi. I'm getting the same error and am trying to find solutions. Did you ever get it to work? One site said it needs to be in the folder as when it was checked out (which I'm pretty sure it is). Maybe you know a way to see what the original folder was? Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks!
