ArcGIS Pro 2.4.0 Portal for ArcGIS Good afternoon, I am trying to create a web application in Portal for ArcGIS displaying point data which is connected to a customer's Excel table (.csv format). I have imported the customer's table into ArcGIS Pro and created an XY Event Layer. This will ensure that the customer's data is dynamically linked so when he/she makes changes, the changes are automatically reflected on the web app. All is working well until I try to add the filter widget to the application and I discover that, due to no geometry on the XY Event Layer, I cannot conduct selections or filters. When I attempt to 'Select by Location' in ArcGIS Pro it does not select any features and when I manually select a feature it selects the entire point layer (which does not update in the attribute table). Has anyone got a solution/workaround for this? I cannot export the customer's Excel table to shapefile or feature class as that would then lose the dynamic link and pass ownership from the customer to the GIS analyst. Thank you in advance. Dale

Hi all, I'm very new to Story Maps (started playing today) and was wondering whether it is possible to put more than one image to a single location without putting locations on top of each other? Sorry if this is a very newbie question but thought it might be cool if you had a series of images for each location. Thanks, Dale

Dale, Bookmarks can be saved off to an external xml file that can be loaded back in using this enhanced bookmark widget: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=ed4d8dbef33d400499d2cc6475f24a4e I have updated it to work with later versions of the flex API. You know where I am Dale give me a shout, Gigzy Cheers Gigzy, exactly what we were after. Dale

Hi, I'm not entirely sure this is the correct sub forum but I have an issue with my flex application. The application is hosted on a secure LAN (using services from ArcGIS for Server) and each person can log on with a roaming profile. When they log in, they can then use the application and have the ability to create user-defined bookmarks using the bookmark widget. However, once they log off the machine they lose all of their bookmarks. Is there any way to extract the bookmark information so that we can either attach it to their profile or save the information to a location which can be accessed across all machines? Many thanks in advance, Dale

Thanks for the speedy reply! From further investigation I believe the client connects using a DLL and then goes into the SQL database through the DBMS OLE. Is bottlenecking still going to occur when hundreds, possibly thousands of clients are accessing the databases through this OLE? Apologies if the question seems ill-informed, I am not a DB administrator so just trying to get my head around all the jargon! Many thanks again, Dale

Hi, We are currently using ArcSDE 9.3.1 and ArcGIS Server 9.3.1. We use Application Server connection to SQL Server 2003 as we wanted to create geodatabases for seperate services and port numbers to avoid bottlenecking which was a problem when we just used port 5151. For example, our setup is: Elevation - 5152 Mapping - 5153 Vector 5154 etc. We are now moving to ArcGIS Server 10.1 and considering using the Direct Connection method but I am confused as to what port (if any) this method uses to connect to the DBMS. I have found a snippet of information saying that Direct Connection uses 'internal storage memory' to connect but if this is true, what does it mean? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dale
