We are deploying ArcGIS Pro Citywide. The request to find out area from graphic element is one of the first questions we received from a GIS user in Planning department. It seems the second panel info (Area, Perimeter, Center) is simply missing in Pro and it would be great to have it there.

Michael, Thanks for your suggestion. I tried both 10.3.1 server cached services and brand-new 10.5.1 cached services, whose caches were newly created in 10.5.1. They are both very slow to load in ArcMap 10.5.1. Our cached map services only cover the City and plus some extent. ArcMap is definitely caching the tiles - after spending several minutes to load, it zooms in and out quite fast. Hope ArcMap does some pre-loading and some in-time loading so that users don't have to sit there and wait for minutes... Please keep sending your ideas this way. Maybe there is a trick or something simple I overlooked? Thanks. Yeon

Hello, I just ran into the same issue. We are getting ready to migrate to 10.5.1 from 10.3.1 and we deployed ArcMap 10.5.1 to pilot users before the Citywide deployment. All seemed acceptable (we did a complete uninstallation before installing 10.5.1 following the advice on this thread) and then I just ran into this painfully slow loading of cached map services in ArcMap 10.5.1. Have you found a solution for it? Any advice is much appreciated. Yeon

Paul, This thread is really helpful as I try to figure out an answer to the same question. We are planning a migration from 10.3.1 to 10.5.1. Are you still happy with your all-in-one approach? Thanks! Yeon

Thanks James. I guess we do not have nesting groups (groups inside a group)? If we had nesting groups, I could assign the appearance of parent groups (groups at the root) as 'field-list' to enable multi-page, and keep the appearance of children groups as compact. However, it will be quite tricky to keep track of all the groups beginnings and endings if we do allow nesting... I will go ahead and leave a comment in this idea page. https://community.esri.com/ideas/12961-survey123-grid-theme-and-multiple-page-forms

Mike, Thank you for your reply! I have tried what you described. I set the style under Setting, and made appearance of 'Grit Chamber' and 'Illicit Discharge Evidence' field-list, and the survey form becomes like this: Page 1 Page 2 This is why I drew the conclusion that every group's appearance would need to set as field-list if we are to have a functioning form. Please let me know if I am missing something. Thanks! Yeon

We are working on a series of Stormwater BMP inspection forms. While working on a pilot survey, I learned very quickly that the form has quite a number of questions and the survey quite long. To make the form somewhat manageable, I implemented many Groups with Compact appearances. It occurred to me today that it would be even nicer if I can break the form to multiple pages. The red lines show where I want to insert page breaks so that they are presented in 3 pages, not in 1 page. However, it seems the survey 123 does not really have a concept of Page. Page would be a higher organization unit, in my mind. Instead, it seems Page is implemented as one of the appearances of Groups. For the survey above, it would create 14 pages, and the questions for each group are already expanded (i.e. you can not have compact groups in multiple pages). I am wondering if anyone successfully set up a survey with multiple pages, each page presented with multiple compact groups. It is also possible I don't quite understand how to properly set up multi-pages. Looking forward to your suggestions and enlightenment. Thanks. Yeon

I searched for the base map toggle widget in WAB, thinking there gotta be someone who already figured it out. It seems Robert looked into it already and we never heard back from the developer team about the issue? BaseMap Gallery widget is much more that what I need, and on top of it, it is clearing results from the previous widget (near me widget) whenever basemaps are switched. What would you recommend in pursuing basemap toggle widget in WAB? I really appreciate all your help and advice. Yeon

Allen, I took some time to read the code and it seems it is a bug. In my setting (using ESRI locator but local coordinate base map), a pair of local coordinates are generated when a point is clicked. The x, y values have to be reprojected first to web Mercator coordinates before changing to lat, long values (to be fed back to the ESRI locator for reverse-geocoding), but the code was not checking for/performing 'reprojection' step. I hope they plan to fix this soon? I am curious if the ESRI support came up with a work-around. Thanks for keeping posted! Yeon

Drew, Thank you for the update! I don't understand how 'making up non-existing addresses' can be considered a feature. Search widget is nice, but geocoding service is also required for using other widgets (I am working with near me widget at the moment), and sometimes features such as reverse-geocoding is needed. Thanks for the link for another thread - it is a rather long thread, but I will take time to read it. Yeon

Allen, Did you figure it out? I am using Near Me widget in WAB too. The app is set with our own basemap (and thus the local projection) while we are still using ESRI's world geocoder. Regular geocoding works, but reverse geocoding is not.. Would you share your findings. Thanks! Yeon

Hello, I have noticed the same issue in my 10.3.1 ArcGIS Server geocoding services. I tried in vain to find out the status of the bug using the provided bug number in the Support site... Do you know if it is fixed in 10.4 or in 10.5? Thank you for your help! Yeon

Robert, Thank you for your reply and the screen capture. You are correct that hosted WAB 'search widget' automatically shows Directions widget option! I have three map services (parks layer and facilities layer as polygon, and address layer as point) in the Search Widget. 1. It seems only address layer gets the option of Directions widget even though it was not added as geocoding service. 2. Instead of showing address as a starting point in the Directions widget, it is placing X,Y coordinates (not very user friendly esp. since I am using State Plane coordinates). I wonder if it is possible to use Directions widget even when a polygon feature is selected (I guess reverse geocoding will need to play a role in that case?). Would it be also possible for Directions widget to use a selected field (such as place name or address field in the polygon layer)? Again, any pointer to solve these additional problems are much appreciated. Thanks much! Yeon

When a user picks a result in Search Widget, the map zooms to the selected feature and opens a pop-up. Is it possible to provide a link to other widgets (my current interest is to link Directions) as a possible option? It would be nice to have "Directions" link next to "Zoom to" link. I am using web app builder linked from ArcGIS Online, but am willing to go for a developer edition... Is it possible to make this happen using WAB in ArcGIS Online? Any suggestion or a pointer is appreciated. Yeon

ArcMap/ArcCatalog is not handling a very breif network outage when connected to data layers in SDE. Even when the network is back online, ArcMap is not able to restore the connection, and keep issuing error messages. Client restart is required after receiving one or more layers failed to draw error. We are currently using ArcGIS 10.1 and using SQL 2012 (sp1) for Enterprise Geodatabase (arcsde). It will be really nice that the connection to SDE stay persistent and restore itself (for example, if we lose a connection to license manager, ArcMap trys to reconnect itself. It doesn't force us to quit the application and start it all over.) ----- Below is a simple test: 1. Open ArcMap, add a data layer from SDE (layer using direct connect) 2. Go to Control Panel> Network Connections, disable Local Area Connection (this is to mimic a short network outage. Please make sure you are not using ArcMap in a remote session) 3. While disconnected, try to pan or zoom in ArcMap. It will pop up an error message. 4. Now enable Local Area Connection (now the network is back) 5. Try to move around, or add other layers from the same SDE. It will continue complaining and the layers will show up with exclamation mark. 6. Now only way to get back to normal is to exit ArcMap and start over. At step 3, you could simply do nothing and wait for ~ 15 seconds, and then enable the network back at step 4. Same error messages.
