Our organization recently went through some branding efforts and a design company has created some maps for us. The map styles use simplified shapes, but follow geographies "for the most part." As we do not have a graphic designer on staff, I am trying to combine efforts when making visualizations where possible. I want to try to find a way to add these map styles that have been created for us into ArcGIS Pro as a layer so that plotting nearby assets is a simpler workflow. I know you can take a raster image and georeference it, which is a possibility. But I was curious as to whether this would be possible with a vector file where paths are already separated out. For instance, can I upload an InDesign or Illustrator file and bring it into Pro and tell it that this path corresponds to this county? Have other folks done this type of work? Where you need to go from 100% correct geographic data to a more stylized format? Do you just make the map in Esri and do all the post work in another program? Do you have suggestions on resources to show this?

Thanks for the reply, Michelle. I looked into the file you linked, but my New > Relationship Class option is not available. I imagine this is due to my ArcGIS license not being high enough. Though, I can add relationships to a feature class. Will that get me where I want to go, or is my only option to beef up my license?

I have a commuting data set that is structured so that basically workplace location (let's say county for simplicity), home location (again county), and number of people commuting between those two locations. I can obviously grab a county shapefile, but I am confused as to how to go about the next steps. My end goal is to be able to input a set of home counties and utilize ArcGIS to have it show me the work counties. I am new to the analysis side of GIS software and am unsure exactly how to word my searches to get initial ideas of where to go next. Have others managed this sort of workflow? (Input area > do these steps > get output area > adjust symbology to share visual representation to others) If so, a nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated! I do know Python if the best solution here would be that route.

I have actually. I found that last week and thought it might be just the tool I needed. However, I seemed to run into an issue. I can export a .json file from the editor, but then I do not know what to do with it. Doesn't it just load into ArcGIS Pro as a basemap layer? If so: I cannot tweak the underlying data to choose attributes I want to show/hide. I can only do this to groups of attributes in a way that Esri has defined. So what I consider a major highway for my region and what Esri defines as a major highway might be very different. Thus, I'm still in the same boat as the original message. I think the easier option is - is there a way to take the json file I can export from the vector tile editor and morph it into a .stylx? That way I could apply those symbologies to my data on an as-needed basis?

I often find myself needing to create maps that focus on just a few counties. I know one way to incorporate the use of Esri's basemaps is to just apply a layer that masks the unwanted states/counties outside of my focus area. Awesome, love it. However, there are times that I want to focus on subsets of the data that those layers already include. Roads or cities, for instance. Maybe we want to include just a couple of the highways/cities that the overall Esri basemap has, or we want to have a map that shows which highways are available for hazardous materials transport. In other words, remove the excess cities/roads? Or, in another way of thinking of it, is it possible to have a "style pack" so to speak from one of the basemaps that I can apply to my layers?

I am absolutely loving the styles built-in to the Human Geography basemaps that Esri put out and plan to use those when I use ArcGIS Online for general maps. However, when I am making maps in ArcGIS Pro, I typically want things to be more controlled. I only want to show our state, for example, or just certain cities/roads instead of the entire map the Human Geography data is running on. I know how to use the Vector Tile Style Editor to tweak a basemap's styles and can download a JSON, but is it possible to convert these for use as a style file? Beyond building each one individually by hand within ArcGIS Pro?

I'm having the same issue. I want to be able to display points colored based on a category and then create bins for the sizing just like ArcMap allowed. Does anyone know a way to do this? Would writing an expression allow it? Is there a way in ArcPy?
