Great point about the solutions focus! Some of the push back against science is rooted in fear... problems that feel daunting and hopeless. The solution focus - "what you can do now for a problem you experience" - is just the opposite: tangible, actionable, and empowering.

Hello Luiz, I was able to run the Load OSM File tool on the espirito_santo.administrative.osm dataset downloaded from the cloudmade downloads site. Is that the same OSM file that you are attempting to load (I see there are several in the Espiritu Santo folder)? If not, which one from that site did you use? Next question: when you run the Load OSM File tool, you must specify a feature dataset location into which the .osm file is translated. Was that feature dataset in a local file geodatabase, or in an SDE geodatabase? If in SDE, what RDBMS (e.g., postgresql, oracle, or sql server) are you using? I want to replicate your exact steps - I used a local (not-SDE) geodatabase and it worked ok. After loading the file, I used the 'Symbolize OSM Data' tool to symbolize the feature classes, and it worked again without problems. So I want to hear from you these details so we can identify where the problem is occurring. Many thanks, Christine

Hello Helmut, I am on the ArcGIS Editor for OSM team, and would like to find out more about the Load OSM File tool not working for you. What .osm file are you attempting to load? What errors do you get when you run the Load OSM File tool from the OpenStreetMap Toolbox? Many thanks! Christine

Environment: ArcGIS 10.0 SP 2, ArcGIS for INSPIRE 1.0 SP 1 on Windows 2008 R2 and ORACLE 11g R1 64bit on LINUX. The geodatabase was set up with the default geometry storage (SDELOB) and the Geodatabase XML-Workspace document was imported without issue. There was no problem using Add Inspire Layer to create the MXD, but if the service is created and started with Inspire View-Capabilities it fails with following error: ...Unknown exception of type: The GEOMETRY_STORAGE type 'SDELOB' is not supported. Please check your dbtune settings! ... Server Object instance creation failed on machine... If the GEOMETRY_STORAGE type in dbtune is set to ST_GEOMETRY, then the service can be created and started without errors. ArcGIS for INSPIRE installation documentation should be updated for Oracle.

Hello Adam, If the Administration tab is not appearing, that usually means there is an issue in the way the <identity> elements are configured. In this basic setup, we are not connecting the geoportal to any user directory tree; we are configured just one administrative user. In the <identity> element, the steps are to uncomment the <simpleAdapter> section, and comment out the <ldapAdapter> section. Also within that <ldapAdapter> section, you will have to uncomment the <metadataManagementGroup> section. Will you confirm that you've made these changes? If you want a second set of eyes, feel free to paste in that whole <identity> section and we can doublecheck. Christine
