This is a constant bother and the Append Data function in ArcGIS Online has become so unreliable I'm afraid to use it. This should be a straightforward process and work flawlessly 100% of the time but lately, I get 25% confidence that it is going to work but most often never appears to complete the transaction so I have to manually close the Append Data Dialogue box and hope that the data didi process. Or it fails and throws a cryptic message regarding an issue with creating the ObjectID's automatically. When trying to update/append data into any of the Utility Network Solutions tables this is a huge problem when it should be simple. At first, I thought it might be an issue with the data but when creating a new blank points feature service and then importing the data it works 100% of the time. When trying to import data into one of the UN Solutions tables it's Hit-n-Miss and more miss than hit. Also, the Domain lists don't show up properly in AGOL from these Solutions thus I'd recommend developing your Feature Service layers in AGOL first and then walking them backward into Pro to ensure 100% web compatibility seems like there are still some bugaboos between the Desktop and Web-based products. If anyone has any insight as to what is stopping the Append Data routine from completing successfully on it's own I'd love to hear about it.

Are there any updates on this subject @RussRoberts or @BernSzukalski it would be nice to be able to add these directly in the New Map Viewer as well as see the list of available stock symbols expanded to include the other Utility Network Symbol libraries/galleries. Thanks, Chris

Thanks Derek Law, I understand this behavior but as Tal described there should be a natural behavior between lists when they are in a Parent - Child relationship (1,2,3,4 - 4,3,2,1) such that selecting and deselecting a Parent List Item can control the Child List it is connected to and vice versa... here's an example... List One - A Master Project List for Capital Improvement Panning Projects List Two - A List of all the Sub-Projects for a given set of Sub-Projects such as Stormwater, Detention Ponds, Channels, Culverts, Bridges, etc. The current Actions work well in being able to have List One control "Filter" List Two where a Master Project is selected in List One and List Two for Bridges only shows the Bridge Sub-Projects that are associated with that Master Project. From there, an end-user can select one of the specific Bridge Sub-Projects from List Two and have that produce additional effects BUT what needs to happen is IF you Delselect the Master Project it should also Delselect all of the Bridge Sub-Projects in List Two and List Three if there is another Child List attached to List Two in another Parent - Child fashion... This works backwards to some extent where I can select and deselect an Item in List Two and Control List One so that it only shows the Master Project that is the Parent of that Item in List Two... Because of this, you should be able to have control across Lists even if there is no formal GlobalID / ParentID link between List One and List Three BUT because List Two can be and is an intermediary "communicator" between the two Actions "should be" able to traverse set of Lists... 1 controls 2 and 2 controls 3 and 3 controls 4 but because they are related through and intermediary any one of these should be able to Action the others... 😉 The advent of being able to set a Spatial link instead of using the GlobalID/ParentID (or your own linking schema) is somewhat of a way to do list but it doesn't allow Actions communications to traverse LIst is such a fashion BUT it should. This is a standard Listener/Messenger type of functionality. If this were configured properly you would be able to Select an Item from List One which would then control List Two and since List Two can control List Three (and so on) you could load all the appropriate records for each list in any direction... including selecting an Item from List Three and walking but up the List Tree (so to speak) to control List Two and in turn List One because One and Two are connected and Two and Three are connected so List Two operates as the message director between the two unrelated Lists. Also, there should be a way to have a Second, Third, or subsequent List be empty until the List it is connected to has one or more Items Selected. In short, Lists are awesome UI's but there are a few capabilities missing that hopefully will be fixed in the new upcoming Beta Dashboard. Thanks Derek! Regards, Chris

Hey Derek, This is still a work in progress but I have put it together and have one Engineer collecting data in the field through a Survey123 Form using the Spike device or taking photos natively with his iPhone with the capability in Survey123 to add markups and sketches to the photos before uploading them. I took the Survey123 SPike Demo that Ismael, Elvin, and the Survey123 put together and modified it to be able to take multiple images and/or measurements and upload them through each repeat in a Related Table as shown here. Once they're uploaded it is easy to access them by creating a List Component which then loads the appropriate images from the related tables requiring no extra steps such as creating a Token as the related tables can serve up its attachments directly. Here's a rough Operations Dashboard we're using to starting seeing the images and then to decide what we need to do with them from here such as copy them into a Word doc or PDF that is formatted as an RFP submission or to bring these photos into and other Map/App to allow further analysis by our design engineers. I can also format a report template within Survey123 and output this as a Site Visit Report for various purposes. I'm working on the specific data and format that the Design Engineers and/or Surveyors want to see this data and corresponding metadata (i.e. measurements) to provide a meaningful Site Survey Viewer if you will. The hope is that we will be able to collect critical information in the field that can be shared immediately with the entire team from Engineering to Survey to GIS to Leadership to Client perhaps. Through the integration fo Microsoft Flow I can also submit this data in any format to other partners or if needed create records and load the photos as attachments or binary records in other databases/systems. This is a work in progress but I think you'll get the general idea of what we're up to. Regards, Chris

Hey Derek Derek Law What about using the Embedded Content Widget where you can use the {objectid} to dynamically assemble the URL? When you incorporate a "LIST" that allows you to select the record from the Feature Service Layer and then use that "ACTION" to drive another "LIST" to show the Photo Records available from a Relational Table (Repeat within Survey123) you can get the {objectid} of each photo and then use the {objectid} to dynamically construct a URL to load each picture BUT you have to also have to generate or have a security token if your data isn't public! Also, you have to know how AGOL constructs the URLs for loading pictures but you can get this information from clicking the photo/attachment link and then use it to modify your dynamic URL. This works very well and with a Public Http URL this is fairly simple HOWEVER when you are running your AGOL secure you have to use Https and then since our data is not publically available you have to figure out how to dynamically generate or access, as a session variable perhaps, a security token so that this works every time and keeps you from having to hardwire the token into the URL where it could be potentially exposed. Here's how I have been able to accomplish this from a Survey123 with a Repeat (relational table) for collecting multiple photos for site surveys. Now I need to figure out how to get a Token for each logged in AGOL user (session token) that can also be used in the Embedded Content Dynamic URL. https://services5.arcgis.com/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/arcgis/rest/services/service_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/FeatureServer/1/{objectid}/attachments/{objectid}?token= TODO: Now I need to need to figure out how to generate and insert the token dynamically... hardwired tokens work for testing but not production as these tokens will expire and change each time a user or new user logs in and you don't want to hardwire this for security reasons...

Thanks Brett, This sounds like a very interesting approach. I wonder though if one could set up a GPS I/O share where multiple devices could use the same GPS GNSS stream whereby keeping them all in synch? When I was working with OK DPS we had a similar issue and we were able to use a small piece of software to create "virtual com ports" and then allow multiple software packages to have access to the GPS data at the same time. This would be similar yet diff for two devices same GPS host but in theory, it seems possible using a GPS Splitter of sorts. Potentially a GPS Service Bus so to speak where any device and/or app could tap in and consume the stream. Chris
