Did anyone ever find a resolution for this? I've registered a local secure map/feature services in my AGO account and stored my login credentials. I then published the feature service to a web map. In the Operations Dashboard, the web map widget works fine. However, in my summary widgets the service (report) is not recognized. Thanks, Mike

Thanks, Scott. One other thing. Will geocoding take advantage of the additional fields? For example, Main St (local name) is also know as Hwy XYZ. Can I search for 123 Main St or 123 Hwy XYZ and get the same result? I'm familiar with geocoding with alias tables but have not seen anything pertaining to geocoding with LGIM. Forgive me if it's documented somewhere already. Thanks, Mike

Hi Scott, I need a way to indicate multiple street aliases. The single alias field will only allow me one. Is there a related alias table that I'm missing, or plans to create one? Thanks, Mike

So in theory, you could have a road segment with a primary road name, a road name alias,a primary and secondary federal and state route designation, and finally a county route designation. Is it possible to have multiple local road name aliases without Federal, State, or county designation? (e.g. perhaps MLK, 19th St, and Old Main). Thanks, Mike

Greetings, We have an installation of the Maps and Apps Gallery for ArcGIS 10. It works great in Firefox, but won't load in IE9. Browser is running in compatibility mode. Debugging in IE returns: "TypeError: Unable to get value of the property 'link': object is null or undefined." Other LGIM applications are working fine in both Firefox and IE. Ideas? Thanks, Mike

We're trying to troubleshoot an issue where after creating the notification buffer, only one parcel is selected. The sample viewer shows all parcels within the buffer selected. Has anyone else noted similar behavior? Could this be a result of multipart parcel polygons? Thanks, Michael Parma

Hi, Peter, Thanks for the info. I submitted a trouble ticket. It turns out our problem was related to having built our mosaic dataset on ECW files. Due to ER Mapper licensing, this format cannot be published on servers. So, it looks like my Esri overviews were being served but not the underlying ECW files. Thanks to Patrick W. for helping us resolve this issue. For anyone else interested, there is a enhancement request "NIM031170: Image Server needs to support ECW files". This has initially been rejected by Esri since it results from ER Mapper's licensing but it never hurts to document needs. Thanks, Mike

Peter, I have a follow up to the first question. When publishing a mosaic dataset to ArcGIS Server, the imagery looks fine down to about 1:40k scale. Beyond that, we just get a gray screen. When bringing the same mosaic dataset directly into ArcMap it appears fine. It is only when consuming the service that we see such behavior (in ArcMap or through an API). Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Mike

That is a nice piece of work. Is there some manner to configure a single Google basemap into the Flex viewer? Is sounds to me like there is a significant level of customization involved with creating the dropdown lists. Thanks, Mike

I'm trying to use ModelBuilder to insert parcel updates into our SDE database from a feature class provided by our external vendor. The tool is designed to run from ArcCatalog. Here's my workflow: 1) Existing parcels (geoParcel) in DEFAULT SDE version are archived (copy features tool) to a new FC in an FGDB 2) Create a new UPDATE version in SDE 3) Change to UPDATE version 4) Delete features from geoParcel 5) Copy records (append tool) from vendor GDB into SDE 6) Reconcile and post changes to DEFAULT 7) Change to DEFAULT version 😎 Delete UPDATE version When I get to step 5, I receive the following: ERROR 999999: Error executing function. Objects in this class cannot be updated outside an edit session. [<db>.<user>.geoParcel] Item not found in this collection. Failed to execture (Append). I've run the individual tools manually from inside ArcMap with no problem while NOT inside an edit session. The Copy Features, Copy Rows, and other such tool create a new feature class and that is not what I need. Does anyone have ideas about how to implement this workflow? Is there some way to start an edit session from within ModelBuilder? Perhaps this a bug within the Append tool. Thanks, Mike Parma

Derek, I saw that article. However, I'm trying to script the entire thing or be able to run it from a tool. I need to be able to kill direct connects without logging in to the RDBMS. Brent's comment sounds promising, as does the migration to 10. Due to integration issues we won't be able to move our SDE to 10 for about 6 more months. 😕 Thanks for the responses. -Mike

ESRI has increasingly pointed users to leverage direct connects to SDE instead of application connections. We have followed this model and overall performance of our system is good. However, I have more and more often run into problems with users locking feature classes which we need to perform maintenance on. I'm looking for a method to kill all user direct connections and suspend any new connections during the maintenance window. "sdemon -o kill ..." and "sdemon -o pause ..." don't work on the direct connects. Anyone have a suggestion or better yet, code examples? Thanks, Mike Parma GIS Coordinator, City of New Braunfels
