Rebecca, Thanks for your help. I think this might work for me but, as you said, I need to mull this over for a while. Chris

Rebecca, I tried to follow Jayanta’s suggestion to publish the service through ArcGIS Online but I don’t have My Hosted Services as an option in the drop-down list of connection types. I do not have an ArcGIS Server license. I have a home use license only. I do have an ArcGIS Online account. I definitely don’t want to share my map with the public. What I’m working on is proprietary so if this is the only way to see my map on my ipad then this won’t work. I want to be able to access my map on my ipad in the field. I have the latest version of ArcGIS for Desktop – 10.4.1. Chris

Rebecca, I don’t have any network people. I’m trying to do this on my own. I want to publish my arcmap project so I can use AppStudio to access it on my ipad. So I bet I have to share the folder where my arcmap projects are stored and incorporate that into the URL. Is that correct? Chris

Rebecca, Concerning the URL, do I just make up a server name? I don’t have a server name and all I have for the authentication is an ArcGIS Online account. Chris

Hello, I am trying publish a service and this is my first time so my only choice is to create a new one. I have version 10.4.1. When I get to the wizard to guide me through the publishing process it asks for a server URL and I don't know what to enter here. Any help would be appreciated. It is also asking for authentication. Is this my existing ArcGIS Online username and password?

Dan, The file is a very simple comma delimited text file (.csv) with data in columnar format with headers. The data includes a column for latitude and longitude and I have added the file to my ArcMap project and is now a table. How do I display this as points on my map? Chris

Xander, I have managed to load the coverage into my ArcMap project. Both Rebecca and your suggestions were most helpful. Thanks, Chris

Rebecca, Thanks for your help. I'll try your suggestions. Here is the link to the e00 files I have downloaded from the USGS: USGS Online Publications Directory The files are compressed as gz files so you need a program to unzip them. I used 9zip. Chris

So I just downloaded a series of e00 files from the USGS Geophysics website and I am trying to load them into my ArcMap project. I am using the 'import from e00' tool in the Arc Toolbox but I am getting a rather ambiguous message from an Import71 Utility window. It requires that I enter the name of the export file and then enter the name for the output data source. Once I do that I get a message that the file cannot be accessed and to make sure I have security privileges on the drive. I checked the folder where I would like to place the output data source and the folder attributes are set to read-only. I uncheck the box and hit ok to change the attributes but the folder status does not change. I am logged on as administrator for this machine but I cannot seem to change the status. This is a Windows 10 operating system. Any ideas on how to correct this? Thanks.

Xander, I do have 3D analyst but I have never done this. Do you have more information on how to convert the raster to a TIN and then export to points? Thanks.

Xander, I have to create a simple xyz flat file that I can grid in another software program and by converting the raster DEM into a point file I already have the z portion - I just needed to add the xy coords and export out as a csv which I can bring into the program. The problem was the software program was choking on the amount of points generated from a 30m DEM.
