A follow up. The map image continues to mis-display. On looking in on the Server Manager on caching for the service, it is set to draw "Dynamically from the data" rather than tiles from a cache and tiling scheme scales are greyed out. I have as a stop-gap added the misbehaving layers into the map separately as features but this ruins the cascading menu I desired by using a map image in the first place. Below is another example of the misbehaving layers in the map image. vs One further note. Not all of the layers in the map image display partially.

Thank you IhabHassan, that was the sticking point. I used Browse as you advised and the resultant URL was a truncated version of what I was trying to use. As TonyContreras_Frisco_TX's post mentions in a wonderfully concise way, the portion "inetpub/wwwroot" in my path was gumming up the works. I replaced localhost in the browsed URL and Portal accepted the entry. Thank you both!

No, I am not. I only get a HTTP Error 404. Is there a setting I need to change to make the file location network accessible?

We recently needed to rebuild our 10.9.1 Enterprise system from scratch after an failed upgrade from 10.7.0 and are encountering a roadblock when trying to register a custom widget to our Portal. I follow the directions as per the Esri Add Custom Widgets document for Enterprise 10.9.1 but receive the error message "The URL does not reference an AppBuilder Extension." I have had some concerns from the start given that the menu lacks the Title and Tags options from the example in the directions and all the examples in the various help postings and videos I've found while searching for a solution. I had no problems registering custom widgets previously with instructions I received from a colleague - "Un-zip the widget folder, you should be able to copy that entire folder (such as eSearch - with all the items within it) and paste it on the C drive of the Portal server at: C:\inetpub\wwwroot Then, look at the 'manifest.json' file, and follow the instructions for Add a Custom Widget, starting at the 'Register a custom widget' section." In that location the widget files should be publicly available and avoiding the issue referenced in the BrianVan_Nostrand post: "The URL doe not reference an AppBuilder Application" when deploying custom web application What does "The URL does not reference an AppBuilder Extension" mean? What should be referenced and how?

It would be great if the map border had a toggle option to automatically set the offset effect to negative half of the border width (offset = -0.5 * border width). As it is now, assuming your map is to the limits of your layout, half of you border is off the layout or hanging over other graphics, maps, or other objects on the layout when snapping to edges. Since the border is a line that snaps at the center no matter the width the border must be eyeballed to edge of the layout or the offsets set manually for each border layer. A toggle button could simplify this. Thanks!

It was brought to my attention that the arc length of a curve I had submitted was incorrect. I had expected to get the the arc length of a curve when using the Measure Feature tool on a line feature. What it returned was the chord length. Since the chord isn't direct measurement of the feature, I think an update to the tool would be a good idea.

I was looking to create a distinctive symbol for an underground line. What I came up with was a line with "Along the line" markers. It worked well until I began looking to adjust it to smaller scales. I could enable scale-based sizing for the line but not for the "Along the line" markers that also make up the symbol. Please consider enabling better control to scale-based sizing for complex symbology. Similar to what was stated in the ArcGIS Pro Scale Based Symbology - Single Symbol Idea, there are many reasons to not want to create multiple layers to depict the same data. Before scaling considerations. At a small scale the lines are this tangled cluster of points. Thanks!

I publish Map Image Layers to our most accessed maps as to group categories of layers, such that layers like washes and flood plains are collapsed under Hydrology. Today I overwrote the map image layer to update it and one layer in the group now will not display in past 1:36,112. There are no limits set on the layer's visibility both in Pro before uploading or on the online map after. Before After The disappearing layer when uploaded as a feature service displays fine and as you can see from the second image the layer is there and selectable, just invisible.

Not yet. The current theory we have has to do with security certificates. Namely, the print widget isn't receiving the appropriate permissions for those restricted layers. It remains an ongoing issue. We are still on version 10.7, so there is also a hope that it may also be resolved when we update to version 10.8.1.

Hi Ken, I created a layer that I quite like for symbolizing barbed wire fencing. It's a basic black line then 2 point marker layers are added in the structure tab. Search for and set both markers as arrowhead 7 and set the angle for the second to 180°. I find setting the endings for the marker placements to No Constraint works well for me.

North is at the top (it's usually a rare case when it isn't even in print), but we need to be potentially prepared for viewers with a wide range of cartographic literacy, including not knowing that north is up on the web map.

It would be really nice if custom scales could be set for symbology. We can set custom scales for our zoom and our labels but not our symbology. The default scales [1:1000, 1:5000, 1:24000, etc.] works great until we've customized the scales of everything else. For illustration:

I'm hoping to find out about some of the solutions people have created to the problem of road sign inventory layer. For instance for street name signs that commonly occupy the post as a stop sign this is my current solution. The street name is below the stop sign in symbology layer but shows precise placement when it stands alone. But this won't work for everything. For the Chevron Alignment sign on curves where they are found they are placed like so (overhead diagram). How would you / do you deal with symbolizing road signs overlap oddly?

Hi Robby, I had a similar problem in Pro that stemmed from a corrupt Project file. I solved it by creating a new Project and copying all my layers into it. My geodatabases, features, etc were fine just the Project file.
