Extent indicators are typically red. They were red by default in ArcMap. But in ArcGIS Pro, the default is black. I always have to change it to red and usually make it one point wider, because 1 point black just doesn't show up very well. Could we have the default be red or have a setting somewhere so we can set our own default extent indicator to be whatever color we want?

Addendum: It had worked. I closed Pro, then opened it and selected the template file and it worked! The issue was that the Template creation pane looked like it wasn't done, but it was. It does prompt the user to save, just like if they were creating a New Project.

Mine says "Packaging successful" and says "Finish Creating" but it isn't done. It's been like this for a few hours. I have not interrupted it and am saving to a local server (down the hall). (Using ARcGIS Pro 3.1.2) I will likely just use an .aprx as a 'template' map for my people. I just thought I'd try the actual Template. The problem with using an .aprx is that the user has to remember to Save As. I'm hoping the Template will prompt them to Save As, but can't test yet as I have no template to test with!

That worked for me. Not through Python, but just entering it manually in the Description. Thanks!!

Totally! I also love the Reset Panes, but I usually run with the Catalog, Symbology and Geoprocessing panes open because they are the ones I use the most. But then as I use other tools and panes pop up, it gets cluttered and I want to go back to my default. The closest is Reset Panes for Geoprocessing and then I just have to open Symbology, but it would be nice to be able to customize our own Reset Panes!

I have verified that this works as expected (click shows all visible layers, including rasters) in ArcGIS Pro 2.9.9 and 3.1.2. If anyone is still having this issue, please update your software. 🙂

That works to drag it in the Fields list to the top. But these solutions would require me adjusting the field info on every layer that I want to symbolize. Better for Esri to have the Field 1 dropbox start out blank.

Thanks for the info. That will only work if the field I want to symbolize is the only field I want to see or if it is the first in the list. Hmm, I wonder if I can make it be the first field in the list of fields.

I'm adding my voice to the din. Right-click a layer in Contents and get "Add Spatial Join" which is the same as Add Spatial Join (Data Management Tools). It does not create a new layer. It appends a Join_Count field and the first of each of the other fields. If you need it to create a new layer, use the "Spatial Join (Analysis)" tool. It gives you a new feature class with a Join_Count field and the first of the joined fields, BUT NO fields from the Target Feature. I agree that this must be a bug. Why would Esri intentionally leave off the fields from the Target dataset? I do understand why the Add Spatial Join option does not create a new FC. Sometimes you don't need a new layer, you just want to look a the data, maybe even symbolize based on it. But sometimes you DO want a new layer. A workaround would be to run the Add Spatial Join, then export the result as a new feature class and use that in your models.

Steps to recreate: Go to the Symbology of a feature class. Select Unique Values. Field 1 defaults to anything with the word "Name" in it or it defaults to the ID field. If it picks the ID field, you have to wait for it to list each value with their own color. Then when it is done, you can click the drop-down box and select the field that YOU want. Real world example: I have a feature layer that represents tifs and has over 500 records. It has a FileName field with the file name of the tif. Each record is unique. The Symbology pane picks this field. What I want is my QC field. I'm using ArcGIS Pro 2.9.5.

And then apparently, repeat with each feature class that is using that domain...

There is another way. You can change the order in AGOL. Click your feature class that uses the domain. Click the Data tab, then click Fields at the top of the window. Click Edit next to the List of Values (Domain). Move your mouse pointer to the left side of the value until you get the hand pointer. Left-click the mouse button and drag to the desired location. Yes, you have to sort them manually. And the result won't appear when you are linked to the feature class in ArcGIS Pro. And I can't get the list to scroll when I am dragging. (I have a domain that currently has 55 items and had to scroll from the very bottom up to the L's one screen at a time.) But this may be easier than the code method.

I am getting the same message. I was able to to the whole wizard successfully and am now trying to do the same steps on an overlapping image collected at the same time. I don't know what table it is talking about. The training samples?

You can add coordinates using Dynamic Text. We would like to be able to add Township, Range and Section using Dynamic Text.

How does the Import in the Customize the Ribbon tool work? When you Import a .proExportedUI file, it asks if you want to "Replace all existing Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar customizations?" So I guess that means that you can't send a co-worker just a new Tab/Group. You would be exporting the whole ribbon configuration. But what about further customizations? I created a New Tab and a New Group and put some tools in it. Then I exported it. I Removed it, because I was teaching an inhouse class and didn't want to confuse my students with my strange Tab. Now I Imported it back, but when I tried to add additional tools to my Group, after I clicked OK, my new Tab disappears. Do new customizations cancel out whatever was imported? I'm using ArcGIS Pro 2.5.2.
