Ah...never thought about that... It is an online login so it makes sense. I guess I never thought about it since I end all my users with "_rec" and it seemed strange that someone else would have that exact username, but since it is AGOL wide it could happen. Thanks

Hi, I am creating new users on ArcGIS Online, and it is telling me that there are duplicate usernames even though that username does not exist. Is it because that username may have existed in the past and was deleted, and somehow I cannot create a new username with that same deleted username? Photo below of the error prompt.

I don't believe so, the London location happens to all my users as well (over 100+). I've also republished it several times after moving the default location multiple times and every time it defaults to London for some reason. I took a look at the geopoint example but I already have a geoshape within my survey and don't want another location in the survey to confuse people. I also think the default location should be able to work but it doesn't seem so...just wondering if anybody else has this issue

I use S123 Connect to publish my survey that I have Inbox enabled so the map is available. In S123 Connect, in the map options, I have the default location set to San Francisco, but for some reason whenever I open S123 on my phone, and go to the Map, it always defaults to London...see screen shot below of what I have in S123 connect and then on my phone. Hi, I am using PowerBI to grab data from ArcGIS Online hosted layers. I have two layers, a Scores layer, and our Survey layer. The Survey layer is what gets updated when our users go out to the field and collect data via Survey123. We then use this collected data in this Survey layer and run python calculations to update the Scores layer. I then use PowerBI web connector feature to query data from both of these layers. The Scores layer I can connect to, and stay connected to, without an issue. The Survey layer however requires us to do some fidgeting around because for some reason it requires a token to be able to access this data via PowerBI. The issue is that this token changes ever so often, and sometimes immediately after I grab data, so I am having to continuously go to AGOL and take the new service URL with the new token. I've taken a look at the layers and I have no idea why my Survey layer requires a token but my Scores layer doesn't. Would anyone know why?

Wow, interesting...yeah we haven't used our survey since about 2019 and we are just starting again so I notice it now. I can't believe that this has not yet been fixed, especially if as mentioned that it may be an easy fix. A lot of our users just don't notice these types of things. Our survey also takes at least an hour to fill out and so I've already heard several people tell me that it just devours their battery. Thanks for your reply, and hopefully someone on the ESRI team can see this and provide a solution.

Hi, a while back, I don't remember how long ago, Survey123 did not use Location Services while in the background (i.e. when you tap the home button on an iPhone and left Survey123 in the background). Currently in the new update, when you leave it in the background it states that Location Services are running and there is a blue icon on the top notification bar next to the WiFi signal and battery percentage icons. I tried looking into settings and there is no setting to turn off Location Services running in the background. This is causing significant battery drain for our users, especially those that are not tech-savvy enough to notice the blue icon and leave the location services running even though they are completely done with taking our survey. Again I state that this was not the case in the past, where Survey123 only used location services while actively in the forefront of the device. Is there a fix for this? I do not see this setting anywhere on iOS devices. I've read in previous posts that the app is optimized to not drain the battery but that is simply not the case as while I type this post out it has lost another percentage while I did not use the device at all.

Thanks so much Phil, this will be something we are going to take a deeper look into a couple quarters later when we are more established with this program. Sorry to drag this thread out, but I tried other means before and didn't get any answers, so since you've been so helpful I'd figure I'll give this a shot. I'm not sure if you are a subject matter expert at Power Automate with Survey123, but when I try to set up a flow with my survey, it says that I have reached the max property capacity of 1024 properties and that I cannot set up the flow. I'm not exactly sure what this means, do you think it has something to do with the number of repeat groups I have in my survey? Because of this, I can't get any notifications to send to my users when they complete a survey and I also am not aware until I go into ArcGIS Pro to look up the completion status. I've attached a screenshot of that error that I receive. Thanks!

Hi Phil, That was it! I went back onto the EAC site and back on Testflight to download 3.13.234 and tried my survey again and it loaded perfectly fine when clicking on Inbox. When I click on one of my assignments, it does still take a little bit to load, but that problem was there before. Something like 5-10 seconds. However everything did work as intended. I think this issue is that we use repeat groups for photos because we had no other choice. This caused our survey to have 100+ repeat groups and thus creating related tables and a large survey and slow load times. I was wondering if you knew of any resolution to this issue? We weren't able to have multiple photos using the "inbox" method unless it was using repeats, and our consultant at the time acknowledged that it was an engineering thing and might be fixed later on down the road. Would you know of any progress on this? Thanks again!

Interesting...I downloaded the new release and now I am experiencing the same thing that my users are experiencing. When I hit the Inbox button, it turns blue and freezes there for a good 20-30 seconds and then my inbox appears. This did not use to happen to me, so I am assuming that I may have been on the old version and my app was not updated yet... I tried the new build via Testflight and this is still happening. Can developers look into this please? It has been causing a lot of headache with my field staff. Thanks

Awesome, thanks a lot, I will look into this now. The strange thing is that only some users are experiencing this and I cannot pin down what the cause is. My initial thought was that they were using an old phone, the iPhone7, but I tested this with my own iPhone 7 and did not have this issue. But either way, an update would work out for all of us.

Hi, I have enabled Inbox for Survey123 where I give out assignments to my users via a Query based on layer data. I have multiple users, maybe around 10, that tell me that when they tap on the Inbox button, it highlights it blue, and then gets stuck, and it might get stuck there for maybe 5 minutes and then it will bring them to the inbox. Any idea as to why this is happening? Like I mentioned, this happened to about 10 people and they are becoming frustrated. Thanks.

Hi all, we were able to figure it out. What happened was that we had a data layer that we were applying this survey to, and we appended data over and when this happened, it wiped out any defaults or nulls or empty strings. Instead of stating whether or not something was a Null, we instead used count logic and so if the count was 0, the comment and photo group wouldn't show, and also if the selected value was "No issues" then it would also not show. Hi, I am in the 'settings' tab of a survey editing using xls through Survey123 Connect. I am using inbox method and surveys that are sent to my users have a title, and that title is configured under "instance_name" in that 'settings' tab. The name of my features become way too long, and I was wondering is there any code that would only display the first 10 characters of my feature? Such like in Excel if I use the code =LEFT(X, 10) it'll only give me the 10 first characters. This is what I am currently using to display the surveys in the List view to my users: ${Site_Name} + ': ' + ${Map_Label} Would be great if I could only grab the first 10 characters from my ${Site_Name}

Hi, I have a survey built through S123 connect with xls form. Users evaluate a site and if there are issues, they mark one of the "select_one" options that are given to them. They can also select "No issues", which has a value of "1". I also have a comment field and a photo upload field that ONLY appears when users have selected an issue, this is done through using language under "relevant" for the comment and photo upload fields. For some reason the code below does not work, though in my mind, seems perfectly logical. Is there something I am missing? When I pull in the feature layer to ArcGIS Pro the defaulted value is <Null> for my issue choices, perhaps that may cause some issues?
