Thanks for your reply! Showing the dimensions with a label would already be a big improvement and the option of snapping to either full meters or full decimeters an additional plus. Ideally the user would have the option to change the snapping dimension (the options 'no snapping', 'meters', 'decimeters' would work for us), if that's not possible I would opt for decimeters as default. In theory 😉 these two features would pretty much cover our needs and the third option (input exact length dimensions) would not be needed anymore. Thanks again, Bruno

The drawing tool in Urban allows to draw right angles, which is a good thing. But there is no feedback on the length of an edge. If you want us to use Urban also to sketch building footprints, we need to have the option to type in the length of the edge (similar to the CityEngine drawing tool). Otherwise we will need to sketch building footprints in another Software (CAD, CityEngine etc.) and then import into Urban. But this approach is more cumbersome and will not allow to change designs quickly during workshops as it needs much more time.

Hi Matt! Thanks for your answer! The object attribute survives the export. It's very odd... If I change the shape name to something completely different, like 'abc' the export also works. But if I use the names as described above it doesn't work. Seems that CityEngine gets confused when I use the same names as before, but apply them to different shapes (if shape 1 gets name of shape 2 and vice versa). I just found a simple workaround: If I add a space at the end of the name it works.

Hi! I am working on a scene with building footprints. The shape names were adjusted during the working process. Example: a building footprint had the name A10 at the beginning and was renamed to A01 later on (just by typing in the name in the inspector). I exported both versions to Webscenes. The export worked fine, but when I click on the renamed shapes in the Webscene, they still have the old names and I can not find the new names in the webscene when I search for them. I already tried the following: -export with CityEngine default settings instead of previous export settings -copying the shapes to a new layer and exporting -exporting the shapes without applying a rule file All with the same result. Has anyone got an idea how this issue can be solved? Re-importing the shapes would be very time consuming as I would then have to set many cga-attributes for every footprint to rebuild the scene.

Hmm.. Yes, it happens with every snapshot. It's definitely related to the mac retina display. I found a workaround on the apple website in the meantime. You need to open cityengine in low-resolution mode when you want to export snapshots and then it works fine: Quit the application if it is currently open. In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu. In the Applications folder that opens, click the application's icon so it is highlighted. Choose Get Info from the File menu. Place a checkmark next to "Open in Low Resolution" to enable Low Resolution mode. Close the window and double click the Application to reopen it.Note: You may also contact the developer of the application to determine if they are offering an update to the application for the Retina display. So I guess this means that you can't work in the high-resolution mode when you want to export snapshots. Fortunately the rest of the functionalities in CityEngine seem to work fine in both modes. Thanks for your help!

When I use save snaphot it only exports the lower left part of the viewport (see attached pics). I am working on a Mac with OSX 10.9.5 with Retina display and the issue appears with both CityEngine versions 2013.1 and 2014.1. However I didn't have this issue with my older Mac with a slightly older OSX and without Retina display. Any idea why this happens and how I could solve it?

Hi Matt! I've created an example: MASTER.cga contains a simple start rule and extrudes the lot with attribute 'Height', it also assigns the material color and gets the color variable from DESIGN.cga. Now when I share MASTER.cga as rpk and I test it in the same project it works fine. But when I import the rpk into another CityEngine project and apply it to one of the shapes it throws an error message. It shows the full menu for MASTER in the inspector, but only the title of the imported DESIGN.cga without the variable. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks! Bruno

Is it possible to create a rpk from a rule file that uses several subscripts (separate cga files) through import? I tried several times and it seems that the rpk can only be created for a single cga. If you have 'import'-statements in the cga the created rpk doesn't work, it is looking for the imported scripts which it can't find. How can I solve this problem?
