Hi, We recently made the transition from ArcPad 8.0 to 10.0 and noticed a few changes in terms of the operation of the program. The main one I had a question on was the ability of 10.0 to draw the different layers we had loaded in. Previously in 8.0, ArcPad was very quick to draw the tracklog, even if it was fairly extensive. Now in 10.0 (with the same capture settings we had in 8.0) the tracklog takes sometimes several minutes to draw. I do realize that sometimes after a full day's work the file can get fairly large but there is a definite difference between the two versions. Is there possibly another setting in 10.0 that I may not have adjusted? We are currently running 10.0 with the out of the box default settings besides the GPS capture rate (currently set at 5 sec because we do most of our work while traveling in a vehicle at 10-20 mph). Or is this just a difference between the two versions? Thanks for the help and if anybody else has experienced this, please let me know. Just trying to get a sense of the new version. Brian

I am building a tool in model builder that will be used for several different projects. The question I have (and problem I have been running into) is I want to build several steps into the model that don't necessarily have to run every time. For example, on one project I may have 5 input shapefiles, but on another I may only have 3. The functionality of the tool is essentially the same but I want to pass in a different number of inputs. When I do this, all the tools that are build into the model require an input and the tool will not run, even if I make the input optional in the model properties. The input is optional but the model still tries to run the process and without an input, it fails. Is there a way to make portions of my model conditional making all tools linked to the input not run if an input is not supplied? Thanks for the help. Hope this is clear.

We are currently running ArcPad 8.0 on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 equipped with the default GPS unit on the Toughbook itself. We do a lot of our work in a vehicle so we are looking to purchase an external mag mount Trimble unit to increase reception and accuracy. Does ArcPad have the ability to switch back and fourth between different GPS antennas/recievers so when we go outside of the vehicle, we would be able to switch back to the default GPS receiver? Does anyone know of any major issues with any specific GPS receivers? Thanks for the help!

It works great. Can't believe it was that easy. We already have our geodatabase setup with specific domains so we will be good to go.

Hello, I have a situation where I need to symbolize one feature class in ArcPad two separate ways. We do initial data gathering in the office and have a source attribute in the data that we set as "Desktop". When we go to the field, we typically verify and make any corrections to the data and change source to "Field". We like to symbolize differently based on the source attribute to make sure all features we identified in the office were accounted for, and want to do this without having to check out multiple feature classes. I am almost certain there is a way to do this using the Filter tab in the layer properties but haven't been able to figure it out. Could anyone help me out? Thanks.
