We are having this same issue now too. Any luck getting through this? I have many scripts monitoring our enterprise that rely on reporting the groups for each content item.

Jonathan Quinn I have a script that checks the status of some key services we have to make sure that they are "STARTED". If the status is something other that "STARTED" an email goes out to notify me. It is scheduled to run on a regular basis and for the most part it works great. Some of the time the script will take much longer to run (15 to 20 minutes) than the usual 10 seconds or so. I logged timestamps within the script and saw that the problem is where I try to list the services within a specified folder on a specified server. When this line works normally it takes 1 second but sometimes it can stall on this step for many minutes. gisServices = gisServer.services.list(folder=folderName) Has anyone else experienced delays in their scripts when using the list() method? I suspect this has something to do with my enterprise being highly available (Portal with Primary and Standby servers, and 3 federated ArcGIS Server Sites that have 2 servers each). Another odd part of this is that when the script stalls for a long enough time, the script will be launched again by the task scheduler. The script that launched after the first script seems to "unclog" or "jump start" the first script and both scripts will finish within the next few seconds. I have several other scripts that use the list() method and they suffer similar issues where it will have a lengthy stall some of the time. Thanks, Brad

We struggled with the index sync for years in 10.5. Since we have moved to 10.7 we have not noticed any issues. It has been so much better for HA.

The primary has .done. The standby has .done and .conf. Will the .done on the standby prevent it from promoting to primary if there is a failover event? The other day, I manually deleted the .done file on the standby and stopped the portal service. Our enterprise continued to work as expected with the primary. When i started the portal service again on the standby the .done file was recreated. We are trying to find a time to test a failover by stopping the portal service on the primary. We have users 24/7 so we have to schedule any down time in advance. Is there any documentation on how the failover works? How long will it take to promote the standby to the primary? I want to make sure when we test we are waiting long enough and we understand the results. Thank you for your help. I was confused to learn that HA Portal worked as a Primary/Standby system. I thought it worked more like our ArcGIS Server machines that work in tandem to create HA. The diagram for configuring HA <http://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/configuring-a-highly-available-portal.htm> in the help shows the non-Primary portal server as a secondary server and not just a standby. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brad

Hi Jonathan, We have a 10.5.1 HA Enterprise and our Portal machines both have the recovery.done file in the db directory. I deleted it out of the Standby machine. I stopped the Portal service on that server to prove that machine was the Standby and our Portal continued to work normally. When I started the Portal service again, recovery.done was recreated in the db directory again. Do you know of any reason the recovery.done file would keep getting created on the Standby even though there was no failover issue with the Primary? Both servers continue to have recovery.done unless I manually delete it from the Standby. Any help is greatly appreciated. We need our Portal to be HA. Thanks, Brad

I have a layout created in an ArcGIS Pro project that has Map Series enabled. Is there a way to use arcpy to export the map series? Can I use arcpy to export a certain page in a map series? I am interested in creating a tool that a user could enter a page name in the map series and the PDF would export automatically. I have several layouts that utilize the same index layer for the maps series so eventually I would like the user to enter a page name and PDFs would be generated from multiple layouts. Thanks for any help!

Thanks Kylie, that is good news. I'm guessing there is no time frame for when to expect the addition of the legend? Thanks again.

Are there plans to add a legend to Collector for iOS? We are stuck in the green app because many of our workflows require the field workers to edit existing points. We don't let them add new points or edit the geometry of the existing points. There is no way in Collector for them to know what each symbol means and that leads to frustration and mistakes.

Same problem here with Windows 7. Have you found a solution for this issue? I can not get the map to display on my laptop but when I drag ArcScene, ArcGlobe, or ArcExplorer, to a second monitor it works fine. Any ideas?

Hello all, I need to collect barcode data while completing a field survey with a Trimble GeoXH. What are the steps to get the data from the barcode scanner and into a text attribute? I have seen some posts that say it takes some customization, but no specifics. My ideal setup would be to have a bluetooth connection to a barcode scanner. Then, when you perform a scan it populates text where the cursor is currently positioned in ArcPad. The entire contents of the barcode can be put in one field, I just want to capture it. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help, Brad

Anyone have any luck resolving this issue? I have the same issue with a twist. When I dock my laptop and use dual monitors, I can get Explorer to display normally on one monitor but not the other. I can drag the Explorer window from one monitor to the other and it starts working, then drag it back and it stops displaying the map window. Any ideas?

My ArcGIS Explorer does the same thing on my laptop. Have you found a solution? The strange thing is that when I dock my laptop to use dual monitors, Explorer will work normally on one of them but not the other. I can actually drag ArcGIS Explorer from one monitor to the other and it will start working normally, then drag it back and it doesn't work. This is a work around for when I am in the office, but I still can't use Explorer just on my laptop when it is undocked.
