I am creating an easement shape file. I downloaded it from NCED, so it has specific fields already populated. Some I will keep and some I will delete. The reason for this is because I administer the CAUV program for the county. So I need to reset land values so they comply with lands that enter into a Conservation Easement. My ultimate goal is to make the shape information searchable in the recorders site so if anyone needs to find easement information they can just look into the fields and pull up the recorded information. I was going to add the county, township/village that each parcel is located in. My thought was I would have a drop down for each field with the 25 township/villages and our county it is located in with the easements outside or abutting our county listed also. So the surrounding county's would have a drop down also with 6 of them listed. I am running into errors occurring. I attempted this via creating a domain name for the field, setting properties (text and coded values) and entering the coded values manually one at a time. Then I received a message that my values were not compatible with the domain. I am stuck. Getting ready to start over. But this is frustrating, I feel like I don't know the steps to take. Not using GIS often anymore I don't remember them either. Thanks very much. Bud empty attribute tables drop down list

Asrujit, I might have just realized her problem. She has been saving her mxds in her personal server space (network) instead of her local drive. I saved it. We shall see now.

Great question! It's working fine now. If it happens today on her computer I'll have her log on to mine and see if it carries over while her's still running. Will follow up.

Thank you for reply's Dan and Jake. Dan there is a file for an update but not certain it applies to her. After all NO ONE else in our office has experienced issues like this. The only time I experience a lag in response is when I have an Address Point file turned on to very a location but that is short lived. I turn it on and turn it off once I know where I am. Strange issue, very random. Jake, sounds more like an IT persons duty. Wouldn't we all experience it if in our GDB tree we all had versions? Seems odd! She's quite frustrated.

A coworker is experiencing the same issues with snapping. It's not everyday, it does not occur at a specific point in her editing, workflow or methods. But when it does happen it is VERY time consuming. It has never happened to myself unless I turn on my Address Points file, that is short lived though. We all connect to same server and have our own PGB versions. In using parcel editing every day we rely on snapping for virtually every move. We don't use the parcel editing tools specifically. We use our standard construction tools for line, polygon, etc and draw them based on surveyor entries on their plats, maps and surveys. So if there is a starting point from an intersection we begin by snapping there and use the Traverse tool to run the bearings, distances and see if it closes. Any help would be great. Bud

I have a coworker whom is experiencing an issue with her application. At some point and it's not relative to anything she does or adds to her mxd, but her snapping takes longer to snap. When she hovers over a point to snap to it sits there and spins for a few seconds. When attempting to draw in a polygon based on a surveyors bearings and dimensions that can be more than frustrating. ANY HELP WOULD SO GREATLY APPRECIATED if anyone has ever had such an issue. She has attempted creating new mxd's, disconnecting and reconnecting to the db/server we are connected to and this has happened to her prior to her updating to 10.2. Thanks. Bud

Josh, That method only worked the one time. I have attempted re-projecting another set of data and now it is not working. Back to the beginning.

Josh, I am not sure if this will help you. I too was trying to convert a projection to Ohio North but could not get it to "stick". After many failed attempts I was able to do it by creating a layer of each feature class, then projecting it in Ohio North and making sure it went to the db (per ESRI) I was attempting to fill with various shapefiles. Hope you have found a fix already. Bud

I need to select and delete large amounts of annotation OUTSIDE of specific polygons. Will need to do cities and townships. What I have done in the past is add my polygon shapefile and then add my FC annotation copy and little by little delete the annotation I DO NOT need for that specific city or township. However, my problem occurs after some deletions where I CANNOT delete anymore. I receive a message "Invalid argument. Unable to delete." and then I can't do anything more. I need a better understanding of this. We need to update our cadastral data every year for customer download from our FTP site. Any help would help me greatly. Thanks so much fellow ESRI users. Bud

Thanks Chris. How are you with 'strange' error messages? I just received an error pop up stating 'A Failure occurred copying features. The coordinates or measures are out of bounds". I cannot figures this one out. Thanks again.

I need to create a field within a FC that is basically a NOTES field for a taskforce to enter notes on phonecalls and the basic outcome of the call and incident. Which is the best field type to chose? It is mostly text data being input, is 50 characters the max? Thanks for your response.
