There is a size limit that can be processed with the unlicensed versions, academic or not. Once that size is exceeded, LAStools will introduce relatively minor artifacts, such as the stripes you are experiencing.

I have a python program to extract peaks in a DEM raster. After reclassifying the raster at various contours (e.g., 2 classes, above or below 130 m) and then converting the resultant raster to polygons, I extract zonal statistics (MAXIMUM value). The program iterates through various contour cutoffs, for instance from 100-140 in intervals of 10. My problem is that one level (only) produces a zonal statistics raster that is striped and all the black areas have the same value. It is an intermediate level (120) while 110 and 130 give results that are fine. It is reproducible across machines. This level should have 4 different zones corresponding to the red polygons in the first image. Any ideas? The relevant zonal statistics statement is: zoneField = "FID" # Execute ZonalStatistics outZonalStatistics = ZonalStatistics(OutPolygons_lyr, zoneField, master_raster, "MAXIMUM", "NODATA") outZonalStatistics.save("outZonalStatistics.tif") arcpy.AddMessage ("Finished zonal stats")

With regard to the .WRL issue, is there a limit on the size of the input file it can handle? I created a TIN from a set of contours that is rather large: Number of Data Nodes: 214623, Number of Data Triangles: 429221. Is this too big? If so, how can one reduce the "grain" of a TIN file created from vectors?

I am having two problems with ArcScene (I've installed the 3rd update to ArcGIS10). 1. If I try to copy a TIN from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcScene, ArcScene crashes when I paste it. 2. If I try to output a 3D .wrl file with a TIN in it, ArcScene crashes. This has happened on two machines (Dell, HP). I can export the .wrl file if I turn off the TIN. Has anybody had similar problems or know of a solution. I need the .wrl to import into a 3D PDF. Would that ESRI made this an option. Tetra4D not working so well for me.
