Very old thread. Did you ever get this to work? I am trying to do the exact thing using 10.8.1 and I don't think much has changed in regard to this problem from 10.3, unless I am missing it in ArcPy. Thanks.

Hello, I am making a REST query call on a map service. https://xxx/MapServer/1/query If I query a batch of records the results come back with return escape sequences in the results. For example, in a call returning many records the results come back like this: "GLOBALID":"{ X77D96F3-36F0-4F01-8B9A-661F5EC8AF5C }" If I query the same record individually the result comes back as expected without the return escape sequence. "GLOBALID": "{X77D96F3-36F0-4F01-8B9A-661F5EC8AF5C} GLOBALID is just an example. Other field values do the same thing. It isn't a data problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

ArcGIS Portal 10.5.1 Windows Server 2012 We have a federated ArcGIS Portal site with two ArcGIS Portal machines. The Portal site is being accessed by a load balancer. Looking in PortalAdmin, everything is correct in terms of the WebContextURL and the load balancer involved, in addition to the two machines listed correctly. See attached screenshot. I was only looking at these files because of some previous issues we have seen and noticed the following. In the properties file, the machines and loadbalanced URL show QA. This is not what is reflected in PortalAdmin. Attached screenshot. The portal.machine.name property is set to a machine in a QA environment and not what shows in Portal Admin. The webcontext.url also shows the QA environment and is also not the same as in the PortalAdmin. I know this properties file is not to be edited and work instead done through the admin tool. However, based on that statement, why are the values below different and do I care as long as it is working (appears to be)? Is this file only used for additional configuration and when does an update happen to the file? # # At 10.2.1 you must use the Adminstrative API for Portal to add or update configuration properties. # This file is used internally by the Portal. # PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THIS FILE DIRECTLY. We are getting errors in ArcGIS Server as below. Can't seem to pin it down, but it seems we are getting duplicate replica/records (?) on the next synchronization where a replica can't be deleted in ArcGIS Server 10.5. All there permissions are opened up and accessible to the ArcGIS config directories etc. No permission problems which is about all I have been able to find as potential causes. Does anyone have any ideas? I am not sure I really understand these messages of the process it is going through. We are querying the REST API with QueryRelatedRecords. The REST API is used to access the relationships. Here’s a sample query I send to the Map Service: [Map Service Root]/MapServer/17/queryRelatedRecords?objectIds=1234&relationshipId=1&outFields=*&f=json Where “/17/” is the layer number and “relationshipID=1”. Our developer hardwired this into the code. Somewhere along the lines the realtionshipID seems to have changed. Is there a way we can set this when publishing the service? There are actually no format relationship classes within ArcSDE created right now and the relationships are phyiscally created within Oracle. Can you control and specifcally set RelationshipIds are set to when publishing the services? Note again: No formal ESRI Relationship Classes defined, only defined within Oracle directly. Thank you.

Ugh. I was just looking at something similar and doing it in C#. Was hoping that wasn't the case, but looks like I will be heading that way. Thank you Thomas, I will mark this as correct after I get some more feedback. I am not seeing any other way around it either.

Hi Randall. Thank you for your response. That is good stuff and gets me part of the way there. I don't think the automatic registration will work for us. If for nothing else we have a mobile product pulling named licenses and we also don't want to have users access the Portal without some control. The listing of users and deletion is good stuff, though. Is there no way to have a user show up, or deleted, in Portal after the AD group has been modified? 1) Active Directory group is created. All those users show up in Portal. 2) User is added to the Active Directory group. Can we have that user then show up in Portal automatically? Same thing with a delete. If a user is deleted from the AD group can it be setup to automatically remove their access without having to do anything on the Portal side? Would it be a matter of removing all of the users in that AD group within Portal, with the command line tool, and then re-adding the group? Thank you. Bill

I have ArcGIS Portal setup to use Active Directory for authentication. I can add remove users fine and everything is working great. 1) I added users to an AD group. I can add the group to the Portal and ALL the users show up. E.g. Add one group with 5 users and every individual user in the group shows up. I want to remove all of the people in the group but cannot figure out how to do it. I want to remove the group and have all corresponding users go away as well, or change the permissions on the AD group I have added. 2) I have added the AD group to Portal. I would like it so when a user is added to the AD group they have access without having to do anything in Portal. This seems like it should be default behavior, but based on the previous question adding a user to the AD group does not seem to automatically grant them access to the Portal. How would this work. Thank you.

Another way is to use folders in ArcGIS Server. For example have a folder called internal and have your admins lock it down, or lock down those services rather. Then have a folder called external and have that opened to the public. This prevents the client from having to use authentication.

It could actually be the content directory you are selecting. Is D:\ a mapped to a file share or a physical drive on the machine? If it is a mapping it could be puking on that. See note under step 4. Create a data store—ArcGIS Data Store (Windows) Installation Guide | ArcGIS Enterprise You can set the file store backups to a file share, but the Data Stores have to be on the local machine(s). If you need high availability, it will require a second machine and set that up as the standby. This is all assuming it is the content directory. If not, disregard at your leisure. 🙂

For us it was this: BUG-000110388: ObjectID and GlobalID fields are not exposed in WFS services in ArcGIS server 10.5.x. It only happens in 10.5. If I post as WFS in < version 10.5 it is fine.

I was just cleaning up some of my old threads. This was as simple as re-booting of all the machines that participate in the site. You know, like going to the Doctor with a cold and he stops and restarts your heart and you are cured. 🙂
