Hi fulcrumingenieria, ArcToolbar --> Linear Referencing Tools -> Make Route Event Layer creates a route event layer whch is added to the .mxd, set the symbology as needed for the event layer, then save the Map Document and publish it in the ArcGIS Server as a Map service which can be consumed directly as a map service... Hi Santoshf2, I am currently using dynamic segmentation on a stretch of a river, but the attribute table of the route event layer keeps coming up blank. This is how I performed the dynamic segmentation. I created my route using the Create Route tool, and then I used the Make Route Event Layer tool to create the route event layer. There are no error messages. Do you know what I may have done wrong to create a blank attribute table for my route event layer? I know there are two ways to create a route, which is either using the Linear Referencing tools --> Create Route tool or the Make Route on the editor toolbar. Does it matter which method I choose to create my route to perform the dynamic segmentation? Are there a benefit using one over the other or is it both the same, just two different methods? Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it. Sincerely, Thi

I am trying to perform dynamic segmentation on a route. I am using the tool, Make Route Event Layer to create the dynamic segmentation. For some reason, the attribute table is clear with no data. Are there common mistakes I can check to avoid this from happening?

I would like to do dynamic segmentation on a sketch of the Sacramento river. My problem is that the shape feature of the sacramento river has the shape length field in decimal degrees, rather than ft or miles. There is a field on the length of the shape file in km, but when I use dynamic segmentation on the route feature, it would always use the decimal degree shape length field. Is there a way to force it to use the field in km or convert the decimal degree into miles, in order to use the dynamic segmentation in miles? Thank you for your help.

I am currently working on a project at work trying to find the river miles in respect to the location of over 3000 sample data points along a stream. I have two questions: I am thinking of dividing the river route into 0.025 mi segments and by using joining method using spatial analysis by location and adding a offset value, I would be able to determine the river mile and join it to the sample points' attribute. Would this method work or is there a better way of finding the river miles of the sample locations? I know that I could also using Euclidean Allocation to do this, but I think the dynamic segmentation method would calculate a more accurate measurement of the river miles. My second question is that I already figure out how to perform the dynamic segmentation on the river route feature, but the problem is that the starting point of measurement should start downstream, not upstream. Is there a way to change the starting point of the dynamic segmentation? If you need any clarification on my problems, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you everyone for your help. I really appreciate it.
