Hi Josh, I do have access to the SQL database. The layer in Pro uses the RECORD_ID field (which is a string of two letters followed by 7 numbers) as the unique identifier column. I did a few different simple queries of the view in SQL and confirmed that the Record IDs are definitely unique in this view. I also tried adding a new query layer from the Add Data button on the ribbon and selected fewer columns. I made sure to choose the RECORD_ID column as the unique identifier, but the new layer exhibited the same unexpected highlighting behavior and the arcade expression didn't work when I referenced the new layer. As I mentioned earlier, select by location works perfectly fine on the exact same view in ArcMap. Thanks, Denise

Hello Xander, There aren't any multipoint features in this layer. It's coming from a view that our programmer made that pulls from about 5 different tables. The locations are created from the lat/long values in one of the tables. As you suggested, I selected some of the points and exported them. I selected a rectangle on the map, and the highlights were all over the place again. Selection highlights are scattered even though I selected with a rectangle However, when I exported them into the project geodatabase, all the points in the resulting feature class were within the rectangle I drew. And when I selected by location from my export, the highlights also showed up properly. The points exported were all within the rectangle I drew, and the selection highlighted properly Furthermore, I just tried my arcade expression again. I changed it to reference the points I exported, and it worked perfectly! I'm now really confused as to why it won't work with the live data. I'd hate to have to export all the points every time I want to use arcade expressions when I'm working with SQL data in Pro. The view is a little slow. Could that have something to do with it? Thanks, Denise

Hmm, I just checked, and they're both in WGS 1984, as is the data frame.

Hi Josh, The layers I'm using are not services. The district polygons are coming from a file geodatabase, and the points are coming straight from a SQL database. Thanks, Denise

I am trying to customize the pop-up of a polygon layer in ArcGIS Pro with an arcade expression. I am working on a request to change inspection boundaries to transfer about 200 inspections from one district to another, so I want to create an expression that will show me how many inspection points intersect each district. I successfully used the following code in the Arcade Playground: var parcels = FeatureSetByName($map, "Parcels_And_Buildings - Tax Parcels")
var parcelIntersect = Intersects($feature, parcels)
var parcelCount = Count(parcelIntersect)
return parcelCount However, when I tried to add it as an expression for the pop-up of the inspection layer (with appropriate adaptations), I got the message "Invalid expression. Error on line 3. General function failure." Going off of the message, it sounds like there is a problem with the count function. (I had originally nested the functions inside each other and then separated them to try to isolate the problem.) Has anybody else had a problem like this that they were able to solve? Could it be because there are roughly 600 points intersecting the polygon? I also selected one of the districts and then tried doing a select by location on the points for the selected district. By comparing the results to what I got in ArcMap, I think it selected all the right points, but for some reason, the highlights are all over the place. It's really odd, because when I tell it to zoom to the selection, it zooms in to the selected district, but it doesn't show any of the points as being highlighted anymore. Point highlights are scattered everywhere instead of being inside the selected district I am on version 2.7, and I checked to make sure that I have the most current version. The points are being pulled from a SQL view. I am still adjusting to Pro. I've been trying to switch over, but if I can't get these issues straightened out, I guess I'll have to go back to ArcMap for this project.

I just made a very similar arcade expression and noticed the same behavior that you're describing. I decided to try rearranging the expression to multiply it by 100 before rounding, so that it looks more like the following. round(travelpercent*100, 2) + '%' It seems to be giving me more consistent results now, though I don't have a lot of features to test it on. EDIT I read the documentation for the Round function, and it has a note that says to use the Text function to format numbers for display in labels and pop-ups. After looking at the documentation, I altered my expression to include the text function instead, and it even multiplies by 100 for me. Text(travelpercent, '#.##%') If you don't want decimals for your percentage, you will probably want to use the following format: Text(travelpercent, '#%')

Hello Mark and Jonathan, The IT Manager was on vacation last week, but I was just able to have a good discussion with him today. He is the one who did all the actual deployment (and will continue doing all the actual deployment). It turns out the question I should really be asking is, What is the best practice for deploying Portal in relation to a firewall? The way we had it set up before, Portal and its web adaptor were set up behind the firewall. We tried to access Portal from an external URL that was forwarded through the firewall by the reverse proxy located in the DMZ, to the web adaptor, to Portal (the web adaptor was on the same server as Portal). However, we ran into issues with Portal needing to use different ports than our firewall allows. Reverse Proxy > Firewall > Web Adaptor > Portal So we want to know if we should just install Portal in the DMZ instead of behind the firewall, or if we only need to install the web adaptor on the DMZ and can keep Portal behind the firewall. This would eliminate the need for the reverse proxy. We also have a lot of resources, so we don't care how many VMs it takes for the best setup. Thanks, Denise

Hello Mark, Thank you for your reply. I found these articles, and the one for Portal is the one we referenced when we originally tried setting it up. After thoroughly reading this article and still not being able to get it work ourselves, we contacted support. They checked the WebContextURL (amongst many other things) and said it looked good. After a few phone calls with them and several adjustments, we still could not get it to work. We even had exceptions made in the county-wide firewall, but nothing we did got it working. That's why I was wondering if it's better to just install Portal and ArcGIS Server on different machines or if it's ok to have them on the same machine as long as they have their own web adapters. And if it is better to have them on one machine, would it be better to install Portal before Server? Thanks for your time, Denise

My organization has had ArcGIS Server set up behind a reverse proxy and running properly for years (Before I started working here). We also have a SQL Server with data that many services on the ArcGIS Server reference. We have a Geocortex server that consumes most of the services from the ArcGIS Server. Earlier this year, we tried to set up Portal on the the same machine as Server was already running on. The main reason we want to set up Portal is so that we can use the Geocortex 5 Series with it. When we used our internal URL, it seemed to be working fine. However, when we tried using the external URL, We could not reach Portal. We read through articles and tried several different things, but we couldn't even reach Portal with our internal URLs anymore. We ended up contacting support and spending hours on the phone with them. We had been using the same web adapter, so they had us install a separate web adapter. They also had us try several other things, but nothing worked. After taking a few months break from this, we want to start fresh. We have the resources to set up all new environments and then migrate our data over from our old servers. We probably won't have the time to give this a try until July, but I've been looking around for articles about setting up Portal and Server behind a reverse proxy. I've found articles for each of them, but nothing about how to set them up together. What we really need is a workflow of general steps for the best practice of setting them both up behind a reverse proxy. Should they be on different servers, or is it ok if they're on the same one? Does it matter which is installed first? I don't know if there is a best practice regarding their relationship to the SQL and Geocortex Servers as well? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Denise

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to use network analyst to create routes for food inspectors. There are thousands of facilities within the county that need to be inspected. We have a database that has all of the facilities in it and lets the inspectors know which facilities are due for inspections. Each of the inspectors has a zone that they're in charge of, so we don't need to use a vehicle routing problem. I can pull facilities that are due for a given inspector. Let's say there are about 100 facilities due that an inspector needs to get done in the next month. I can set time windows and specify how long each stop will take. However, some stops might take 5 minutes for the inspector to drive to while others might take the inspector over an hour to drive to. Is there a way to set a route and only include the maximum number of stops that the inspector can make within an 8-hour period, including stop time drive time? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Denise
