What are the commands that replace the MID, LEFT, or RIGHT functions? For example, I need to extract the 2nd character from a 3 character string field named MOO, and populate the field COW with that value. Simple, I am sure, but ...?

The unique ID field requires an integer value. Is your block group ID an integer field?

Have you checked the Processing Extent under the Environments tab? If it is set to the LGN6, your current results make sense. If you leave it at Default, or change it to the extent of the Mask polygon file, you should get the results you want.

I've imported a raster into a file geodatabase (using 10.1) and it contains no statistics for Min Max Mean or Std. Dev., only "-1.#QNAN" When using the Identity tool I can see the values that are in the raster, but I cannot Classify it under Symbology (it shows just Null values). I have run Calculate Statistics and still no values appear in the statistics fields under Properties. I am able to see the statistics and able to classify this same raster prior to importing it into the file geodatabase. Any ideas?

Thanks for the responses. Google Analytics works for the .html portion, but not the individual map services. Fiddler only tracks from the client side, not from the server side. The geocortex-optimizer looks promising. I also learned that if you have admin rights to your ArcGIS Server, you can get usage stats on the map services by making a GIS Server connection, Manage Services type, and then right clicking on that connection. It seems that the geocortex optimizer is probably pulling the same data as this stats display. The log file also records when services are called, but I'm not sure if it records when they are turned off.

Is it possible to track when a map service is turned on/off in a Flex app? We'd like to track which map services are being used within our Flex app. I know Google Analytics can provide usage info for the landing page (the index.html), but is it possible to be able to track when each map service is turned on or off? Thanks! Brian

Hi If you want to do it directly with Python, here's an example. Bear in mind that this works on integer rasters, so you will need to modify the remap table function. # Name: reclassify_example02.py # Description: Reclassifies the values in a raster. # Requirements: Spatial Analyst Extension # Author: ESRI, modified by Brian Cohen # Import system modules import arcpy from arcpy import env from arcpy.sa import * import os # Set environment settings env.workspace = "N:/South_Coast/Geo_Data/Climate/SDMs/plantsout" count = 0 # Get list of rasters from workspace rasterList = arcpy.ListRasters("*", "All") # sort alphabetically rasterList.sort() for inRaster in rasterList: # set the reclassify field reclassField = "Value" # create the remap value table (here, changing all values to 0 save for 1, which remains the same) remap = RemapValue([[0, 0], [1, 1],[2, 0],[3, 0],[4, 0],[5, 0],[6, 0],[7, 0]]) # Check out the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension license arcpy.CheckOutExtension("Spatial") # Execute Reclassify outReclassify = Reclassify(inRaster, reclassField, remap, "NODATA") # set the output path outpath = "N:/South_Coast/Geo_Data/Climate/SDMs/plantscores/score01/" # Save the output output = os.path.join(outpath, inRaster) outReclassify.save(output)

Thanks for the response Tony. Interestingly, the problem turned out to be that the input values from the user were set as Double, which added a "." to the output path. So making them integers (using the int() function) got rid of that issue and the script worked with just OutRaster.save(pathname + rastername), without need for the os.sep. Thanks again for the reply!

I'm running a script that takes three pieces of user input, uses those as weights for a raster calcluation, and then saves the output raster layer. I'd like to use those input values as part of the filename for the output raster, but, unfortunately, I''m not sure how (I copied most of this script from other places). I'm pretty sure I need to set the input values as a string (which I have in a comment line), but how do I use those in the final line where I save the output file? Thanks for any help! Script: # Import system modules import arcpy from arcpy import env from arcpy.sa import * #set workspace arcpy.env.workspace = "C:/GISTemp" #assign variables to raster layers reduced_west = Raster("reduced_west") offsite_west = Raster("offsite_west") frag_west = Raster("frag_west") # Set the parameters from user input RecoverInput = arcpy.GetParameter(0) FragInput = arcpy.GetParameter(1) OffsiteInput = arcpy.GetParameter(2) # Convert input to percent recoverweight = RecoverInput / 100 fragweight = FragInput / 100 offsiteweight = OffsiteInput / 100 # Check out Spatial Analyst extension license arcpy.CheckOutExtension("Spatial") # Calculate ouput layer WeightedOutput = ((reduced_west * recoverweight) + (offsite_west * offsiteweight) + (frag_west * fragweight)) / 3 # outpath = "C:/GISTemp/ModelOutput/Out_" # outname = str(RecoverInput) + "_" + str(FragInput) + "_" + str(OffsiteInput) WeightedOutput.save("C:/GISTemp/ModelOutput/Out_2")

Anyone know if you can use the Extract by Attributes tool with fields other than the Value field? I am trying to extract cells from the output of a COMBINE. This output naturally has multiple fields, and I want to use a query that involves those fields. However, I keep getting errors whenever I attempt to use a field other than Value. My grid is an unsigned integer, not floating pt, so according to the help pages I should be able to do so.
