I am struggling with this now also. I think once we actually get working on new workflows in Pro and Enterprise we will see how even more entrenched Portal is. ie imagery and analytics workflows writing back to portal... I am hooked on SaaS/AGOL (getting servers or access to cloud gov is complicated) I will be interested in how others heavily invested in AGOL will navigate the base deployment requirements. Right now I see potentially using portal as a small site for the key GIS power users and Enterprise/admins and the rest of the Organization ~200 stick with AGOL... just likely means some replication/collaboration from portal to AGOL. I would not want to migrate everyone from AGOL to portal either. I think we need some real-life experience examples. Thanks for posting

Disclosure I am still exploring this issue - but it certainly is not straight forward! We have successfully been making image services from source imagery data files on premise for 6+ years. Big fan of the product and capabilities such as functions. We are migrating to the cloud. Back when esri started down the Imageserver path it was sold as something where you could web enable you images "at source" and the power of the mosaic datasets and extension/now server would allow for .prj, mosaicking etc… no transformations, no copies of the data. We just want create an image service - From mosaic dataset in file geodatbases stored on S3. We cannot connect to the S3 bucket from ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap as the as folder functions don’t support web accessible folders – ie it must be a mapped drive. have yet to figure out a mapped drive to an S3 bucket. I have seen the optimizeraster repo - and support pushes me there. I am not strictly against that but there are a large number of imageservice that we have that are not huge and the data can transfer quite easily – even via the S3 browser – thus the optimize raster functions and transformations are just another list of steps (and derivations from the source data) and additional "software" on Github.... that should not be required for many (smaller) raster datasets to be web enabled from rasters in their original format in S3 storage. #1 Optimize image publishing flows in core products from cloud stores #2 If I must (but I don't like it) integrate Optimizeraster with core products - as it seems poorly integrated with the core product line and publishing flows of my desktop/server tools

It would be a great addition to the Living Atlas! Check out Sinergise - you can build/configure- create functions/band combinations an serve a WMS back to yourself in AGOL. Very impressed with this model. I think systems of systems is great. The whole archive is there!

I am aware of the credit tools available to AGOL administrators. What these tools don’t do is help me understand the major bulk deposits and debits. We have AGOL accounts that come from desktop entitlements, we have AGOL accounts that come from a XXX seat subscription, We also have occasionally purchased additional credits. These are all in the same AGOL organization/subscription. These renewal dates for (entitlements/subscription seats purchases) occurred at different times. Keep also in mind that credits do not roll over!!!! Last week I had 17K credits this week I only have 5K and I don’t know what came in or out of the account other than the 500 credits that I can attribute to storage of features in the organization using the provided admin tools. So perhaps some credits that I bought, or last years entitlements got debited due to renewal - ie credits did not roll over. Also I cannot tell if I got my credits associated with yearly entitlements, or credits associated with a renewed subscription? For SaaS to work AGOL should to have more transparent - "Balance Statements" or reporting on bulk credit deposits/debits Bulk Deposits Yearly Entitlements Yearly Subscription Additional bulk purchases Debits Usage – Tools exist for this Credits that don’t rollover

Hi folks, I have been looking forward to kicking the tires on this one. Congrats on getting it to beta. We have a public group http://www.arcgis.com/home/group.html?owner=AgCanada&title=Open%20Data# We have 2 public hosted feature services in the group that are both public http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=id%3A951c6de019854b82b6278e7ab7e686a7&t=content http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=id%3A090d8da66e6b4008bd2c07a089a0f90a&t=content Public access is off to http://data.aafc.opendata.arcgis.com/home I cannot see data anywhere in the site ie. in recent items or searching on "plant" searching on nothing. I must admit I have not fully been through the docs yet... but I think it would be good to see a full list of what can be added as content. Like this but for Open Data specifically. Thanks, James

Probably not the most elegant solution and will require some python scripting. Here is a tool I found out about that might help with a few of your use cases. Group assignment forsure. Not sure if the new custom roles will work with this library. def update_user_role(self, username, role): https://github.com/Esri/portalpy Thanks, James

I am starting to layout a dashboard for a project. Does anyone have a list of good/inspirational examples. I like to get inspired by others! Also currently I have a bunch of maps in the dashboard - the "Powered by esri" logo (lower-left) is a bit overwhelming. Any way I can turn that off? Thanks, James

Hi folks, How can I get to my publicly available rest end points for hosted tiled map services? I can access my public - hosted feature services here without logging in - http://services.arcgis.com/lGOekm0RsNxYnT3j/arcgis/rest/services But my tiles seem to require login and they are not all there http://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/lGOekm0RsNxYnT3j/arcgis/rest/services/ Thanks, James
