Hey Esri, I'm finalizing my project right now and decided to add some styling (css) to it before I ship it. I'm looking to have the screen split in two, one side is the webmap and on the other side a drop down menu with the submit button (I dont think it should be to complicated). The only issue is, every time I give a z-index or put any float property to the drop down menu, the map blacks out. (as you can see the drop down menu moved up. in this example i also gave the webmap the following styling: #map_div {
position: absolute;
padding: 0;
margin: 0;
height: 100%;
max-width: 50%;
z-index: -1;
} I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or Esri did it on purpose. Please let me know if you have any leads on the issue, i'll appreciate any help. Thank you, Anton.

Hello Esri Community, This question might be a no-brainer for some but I didn't find any evidence of the answer to it anywhere. Is it possible to have custom pie-chart themes in the pop-up window? The reason for my question is, it seems like the color scheme on all of the themes is limited to 5 colors, however I'm looking for a representation of at least 6 slices in the pie. What happens is that two slices merge together making it hard for the user to see, as follows: both of the these values share the far rightest blue-lightish piece as you can see. Thanks ahead for the help!

Hello Kelly, I managed to show the popup according to the instructions of John Grayson (user below), however now I'm met with the issue of trying to understand how come it shows all the other 9 values 0:"0-14 yrs" 1:"0-4 yrs" 2:"5-9 yrs" 3:"10-14 yrs" 4:"15-24 yrs" 5:"15-19 yrs" 6:"20-24 yrs" 7:"25-34 yrs" 8:"25-29 yrs" if I only passed one ("0-14 yrs") to the tooltipFields. I added the JSON below as requested: (above) This is how my county data arrives in its pure JSON form (before I restructure it). (above) This is how my youth demographic data arrives in its pure JSON form. ** I censored the values inside each property, they are not empty (above) and this is how my data looks after I combined, restructured and converted the JSON arrays into presentable format ready to be consumed by a Featurelayer. ** I censored the values inside each property, they are not empty Please help me understand this. P.S: there is a lot of extra information if need, in my replay to John Grayson.

Hello John, Thank you very much for the heads up, I can't believe how I could miss the tag at the header, the hover is showing right now properly. My only question right now ill be is: Why is it showing? In my code below: the only field that I have passed to tooltipFields is "0-14 yrs", however when I hover over other slices of the pie it shows the other age range values as well: did I understand the role of tooltipFields wrongly? according to the documentation, it is responsible for the hovering pop portion of the charts: so how come it knows to display the over value as well??

So I had some major developments towards finding a solution. I managed to precent a pie-chart and doing so in a dynamic manner regardless of what kind of data I'm working with. The issue I'm experiencing though in regards to the tooltip when hovering on each one of those slices: as you can see in the image for some reason whenever I'm hovering on the slices of the pie-chart the data of each of those slices gets presented to at the bottom left corner of this image (5-9 yrs:34) . Instead I would like to have it similar to the way they have it in this example: ArcGIS API for JavaScript Sandbox Now understand that they working in their sandbox with hosted layer from their online tool (?), however in my case I'm working with locally fetched data from a JSON file. This is how my popup tempalate looks like: Now I removed the tooltipFields property because it wasn't working at all. and the fields_to_present array hold the following items:

Thank you John, I managed to show my pie-chart, however the hover still missing, even though I'm passing only one field (I'm using the field name as you mentioned above) maybe it because the name of the field and the alias are the same? Also, could you expand on this relationship concept? It seem's like showing multiple slices in a pie-chart is the way to go for me. How would I go about replicating the same result in my case ,when I'm working with JSON objects? fields property accepts multiple fields, however the tooltipFields only accepts one. Anton.

Hey There Esri Community! I'm having a little issue here with the graphs inside the popupTemplate. I was looking at the following example: ArcGIS API for JavaScript Sandbox which does a great job in describing the process of creating a pie-chart inside the popupTemplate, However there is couple things that I don't get from this example that's crucial in order to make it work properly . type: "media",
mediaInfos: [{
title: "<b>Count by type</b>",
type: "pie-chart",
caption: "",
value: {
theme: "Grasshopper",
fields: ["relationships/0/Point_Count_COMMON"],
normalizeField: null,
tooltipField: "relationships/0/COMMON"
}
}, specifically this line: fields: ["relationships/0/Point_Count_COMMON"], I understand that we need to pass the fields which according to them the pie-chart is getting charted, however when I pass my field "Number Of Local Employees" I get one full pie chart with one color, but that's granted I passed only one color, However in the posted code above, the example passes only one field as well and get multiple slices in the same pie chart. This is somewhat crucial because when I look at the documentation for the tooltipField it says that it accepts only a string compared to the fields which accepts an array of strings, so in case I'm passing multiple fields I can only show one type of tooltip in relation to the entered field. **Regardless of that, I struggle to show any tooltip on hover. as follows: I appreciate it if you guys can have a look at it and point out if I'm missing missing, Thank you, Anton.

Hello Jordan, Sorry for the late response, I was having major progress thanks to your guidance! I managed to show the points on the map just like in the example that you provided me. However I have some other issue relating to graph in popups and measuring distance, but that I suppose is more suitable for a new topic in the forum. I appreciate your help and effort, I learned a lot thanks to you, Thank you, Anton.

Hey Jordan, Thank you for the detailed response, its starting to get clearer to me. I apologize in advance, because I'm still fairly new to this. I took your advice, and I'm looping through each object in my returned response from my API, creating a Graphic from each Object in the returned response in the following manner: data.forEach(function(element) {
var new_graphic = Graphic.fromJSON(element);
graphics_array.push(new_graphic);
}, this); however, when i console log graphics_array, i see this: across all the graphic object saved in graphics_array . Now the objects I was looping through weren't empty, they all shared the following structure: I know I'm missing something, since the conversion happens with no errors, but the data gets lost in the mids of it. Looking at last link that you posted in your previous response, I noticed that block of code, which I think is most relevant to my issue: geometry: new Point({
x: feature.geometry.coordinates[0],
y: feature.geometry.coordinates[1]
}),
// select only the attributes you care about
attributes: {
ObjectID: i,
title: feature.properties.title,
type: feature.properties.type,
place: feature.properties.place,
depth: feature.geometry.coordinates[2] + " km",
time: feature.properties.time,
mag: feature.properties.mag,
mmi: feature.properties.mmi,
felt: feature.properties.felt,
sig: feature.properties.sig,
url: feature.properties.url
} I haven't noticed any use of fromJSON() at all though. I also noticed that instead of using new Graphic() its using new Point() . is there a difference between Graphic and Point? Ultimately I'm looking to populate the the map with a new FeatureLayer that will distribute the points according to the address in the response object. Now I also noticed the presence of the x and y properties, in my response object there is no sign of x and y coordinates, like I mentioned above, I was hoping to populate the points using the address property in my response object. How do I know what should go in the attribute property of my Graphic object, is that where my: address, # of local employees, company name... should go? Thanks again Jordan for your patience and guidance. I posted the following pictures and code sample to make it as understandable as possible. Hopefully my issue once solved will be able to help other developers that have similar issue. Thank you, Anton.

Hello everyone! I'm new to Javascript API, but its mostly straight forward with the documentation, however I'm having trouble converting JSON data to a Feature Layer. Now I referred to the reference documents but it seems like I'm missing something. So the idea is we creating our own API on the web server, and fetching the data when needed (of course in JSON format), like this: { id: 1, Company Name: "1670143 Ontario Inc.", # of Local Employees: 2.5, Address: "204LebretonStreetNorth Ottawa,OntarioK1R7J1 Canada", Business Description: "We bring the Internet of All Things to a meaningful conclusion...right in the palm of your hand.", Company Age: "years", Industry: "Software, Cloud and SaaS", Phone: "(613)878-1135" }, { id: 2, Company Name: "2CI Technologies Inc", # of Local Employees: 2.5, Address: "1678Canemorecrescent Ottawa,OntarioK4A1S8 Canada", Business Description: "Health and wellness IT development", Company Age: "20 years", Industry: "IT Consultants and Software Services", Phone: "(613)834-8144" }, ... now when im trying to convert the JSON Object with: var flRenderer = rendererJsonUtils.fromJSON(json_object); i get null Did anybody stumbled upon this issue before? P.S. Im working version 4.4 of the API.

Yes! I tried to find this option in properties, however I realize its for ArcMap and I'm using ArcGIS Pro. Supposedly ArcGIS Pro should include in it ArcMap, however I couldn't find any signs of existence of it. Could you please elaborate a bit more on that for me? How can these documentation exist if a standalone application of ArcMap doesn't exist anymore.

I read the article and looked into the specific links he posted. I don't believe that's the best solution, to develop a separate GUI using eternal libraries, I believe Alex mentions that this is not the best approach himself, in the article.
