Strange question. Can a single MobileCache be used by multiple users as the same time? Has anyone try this? Example: A widow application on two (or more) difference machines but pointing to the same MobileCache on the network. Both users viewing the map but not necessarily the same feature? Both editing attributes of a feature but not the same feature. Possible? Thanks

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your input. I tried your suggestion of 3 min ArriveDepartDelay, 0.25 Service Time (along with some others) and it seems to improve the grouping slightly but I still get some output that still baffles me. The first jpg show the SVRP solution to go to the same pickup location three time to dropoff three seniors at different locations. The only difference that I can find is the Time window for the pickup. Each has three different time slot(see jpg) but they all begin at the same time (2:30). I then modify the time so that all three starts and end at the same time (2:30-3:30) and ran the solution. This time the SVRP had them all pickup at the same time (see second jpg). It seems that the solver favors the later part of a time window Does the ArriveDepartDelay field looks at the time window in order to get a solution? Note: the pickup and dropoff time are the same for the ordered pair. Can the solver favor the earlier part of the time window instead of the later part? Thanks for your insite. Angel PS Do you have any info on load balancing?

Hi Anna, I read the documentation and tried a few scenarios but still have a few question. Attached is an output from a SVRP solution. For a particular bus it picks up 6 seniors(all going to the senior center). Two of the seniors have an 8-12 time window everybody else has a 8-11 window. The "solver" drops off only 2 seniors(with 8-12 time windows) and leave the other 4 seniors on board the bus. It then goes out and pick up another 5 seniors going to the same senior center (with 8-11 time window) and then drops off all 9 seniors at the center. Why didn't the "solver" drop-off the first 6 seniors at the center to begin with (instead of 2). What role does the time windows plays when calculating a solution? Note: all seniors have a max travel time of 40 mins. Thanks Update: I edit the time window for the 2 seniors from 8-12 to 8-11 and still got the same results

I have an application(10.1 sp1) using the SVRP tool as a GP service from the toolbox to generate a routing solution to pickup and dropoff seniors thru out the city with five buses/vans. One of the buses which as a capacity of 16 seats sometimes go out and pickup one or two seniors return to the senior center and then go back out to pickup 3 or 5 and and drops them off at the senior center again etc. etc. Is their a way to have the bus full or almost full to capacity before making the dropoffs. I am thinking this may have something to do with cost but I am not sure. Thanks

Simple question but could not find an answer in the documentations. Is the SL versions independent of the ArcGIS versions? That is can I use SL 3.2 with ArcGIS 10.1? Can I use SL3.1 with 10.2? 10.2.1? Thanks

To ESRI, When doing a query on a Feature/Map service the main format choices on the results/output are HTML and JASON. Is their any consideration to an XML format for the output. Thanks

I tried the following code but only the first call of GetResultDataAsync completes(message box appears for the parameter called), therefore you cannot "execute sequentially GetResultDataAsync". I switched the order of the GetResultDataAsync, "out_directions" first and then "out_stops" second and the correct message box appears for the called parameter but I cannot get both to appear. Am I doing something wrong or is this not possible? void geoprocessorTask_JobCompleted(object sender, JobInfoEventArgs e)
{
Geoprocessor geoprocessorTask = sender as Geoprocessor;
geoprocessorTask.GetResultDataCompleted += new EventHandler<GPParameterEventArgs>(geoprocessorTask_GetResultDataCompleted);
geoprocessorTask.GetResultDataAsync(e.JobInfo.JobId, "out_stops");
geoprocessorTask.GetResultDataAsync(e.JobInfo.JobId, "out_directions");
}
void geoprocessorTask_GetResultDataCompleted(object sender, GPParameterEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Parameter.Name == "out_stops" )
{
MessageBox.Show("out_stops");
}
// For Out Direction
// if (e.Parameter is GPFeatureRecordSetLayer)
if (e.Parameter.Name == "out_directions")
{
MessageBox.Show("out_directions");
}

I have Geoprocessing Task (submitted Async) which runs on the server (10.1SP1) without any issues. The results/outputs from this geoprocessing task is basically two features layers and two tables(GPRecordSet). (see pic below). Using the "Clip Features" sample http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/silverlight-api/samples/start.htm#ClipFeatures I am able to get to one of the features and add it to my SL app. My problem is how do I reference the second feature layer so I can also add it to the map? In addition I need to also read the two tables and bring them "in" to the SL application. The following code : geoprocessorTask.GetResultDataAsync(e.JobInfo.JobId, "out_directions"); only allows me to reference only one output form my geoprocessing Task. How do you go about accessing the additional outputs of a gpTask? I have seen some samples using a "if else" stmt checking to see if the output is a type of GPFeatureRecordSetLayer or GPRecordSet but what happens if you have more than one type of these outputs like I have. I want to take the first output and do something then take in the second output and so something so on and so on. Does anyone has some sample code on how to do this? Thanks

I need to start a new project soon(Web ADF conversation) but I need to know how long will ESRI support Silverlight? Microsoft has stated that they will support Silverlight until 2021, but will ESRI support it that long? Will ESRI support Silverlight for at least 5 years? Do I need to move over to the darkside (a.k.a. Javascript)? If I start a project now and ESRI decides to "depreciate" Silverlight in two years then I have wasted my time and need to redo my application in Javascript. In order to justify the use of Silverlight to my Manager I need to know that Silverlight will be supported for a guarantee number of years by ESRI, but what is that number? Or is the future Javascript & HTML5. Your thoughts.

How would you go about having a maptip call a relationshipquery on the fly? Basically I have a feature layer which uses maptips. When a user hover over a feature I want to do a relationship query and add the value of a field(s) returned from the relationshipquery to the maptip. I cannot find any good samples. Can anyone post/point me a good sample? Thanks

Can I publish a "Solve Vehicle Routing Tool" with an Output Geodatabase Workspace other than "in_memory"? The tool works in ArcMap using in_memory or a fgbd for the workspace, but when I publish the tool and run it on the server it fails when I used a fgdb for the workspace. The fgdb exists on the server and I have registered it also. Help said the following: Output Geodatabase Workspace The ArcSDE geodatabase, file geodatabase, or in-memory workspace in which the output feature classes will be created. This workspace must already exist. The default output workspace is in memory. But I cannot fine a way to define an ArcSDE gdb either? Anyone had this problem??? Thanks

Using the 3.1 SL API and ArcGIS Server 10.1 sp1 I was creating a simple SL app. Just displaying a map service. Nothing else. The Service was defined as : <esri:ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer Url="http://abc/arcgis/rest/services/VRP9/MapServer" InitializationFailed="ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer_InitializationFailed" /> Every time I ran the app I kept getting the following: "A security exception occurred while trying to connect to the REST endpoint. Make sure you have a cross domain policy file available at the root for your server that allows for requests from this application." I check that I had the cross domain policy file at C:\inetpub\wwwroot on the server. I then reference a 10.0 ArcGIS server map service and the map appeared. I copied the cross domain policy file from the 10.0 server to 10.1 and still got the same error. After a while I tried the following url to the 10.1 Server: <esri:ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer Url="http://abc:6080/arcgis/rest/services/VRP9/MapServer" InitializationFailed="ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer_InitializationFailed" /> and the map appeared in my SL app. ESRI, Since I am using the Webadaptor on my 10.1 ArcGIS Server do I need to reference port 6080 used by the Webadaptor?? I have not seen any documentation on this. Note: When I first reference the 10.1 map service without the 6080 port number I could see the map on the Design Preview pane but when I ran the app I got the error message. Also my Dev machine and the Servers are on different boxes. Thanks.

Pete, Thanks for the input. We are planning to migrate the Web ADF to Silverlight in the near future, but when we go live with 10.1 the Web ADF will still be with us. Can we still deploy the Web ADF app on the same machine the the 10.1 ArcServer manager & IIS is install on? Should the "Web Application Manager" feature be installed on a Dev machine, along with VS2010, and then we can deploy/publish to our server(with 10.1 ArcGIS server manager & IIS). The documentation is not clear as to how to deploy a Wed ADF app with 10.1 server. Also if we need to stop the service how do we go about it in 10.1? Thanks again.

We have ArcServer 10.1 Enterprise set up on a test machine in order to test our applications before we go live with production. One of our application is a Web ADF site. We used the the ArcGIS Server manager in 10.0 to manager the site. Can we use the 10.1 Server Manager to manager the Web ADF application?? The installation of the Web ADF in 10.1 includes the "Web Application Manager" feature. Do we need this? Can this feature co-exist on the same machine that the 10.1 Server Manager is installed on??? Can anyone who went thru this type of migration chime in. Thanks
