Hello, We had a very similar issue with our production Enterprise 11.1 where our Organization tab would not load and we could not perform any administrative functions through the Portal home page. End users appeared to be unaffected (maps and apps were working). When we tried to re-import the Portal license in Portal Administrative Directory we got the error: "Failed to configure the definition of the appBundles Essential Apps." TLS was not the issue and we are unable to upgrade to 11.2 at this time. We ended up opening a support ticket with Esri and followed a complicated set of steps. General steps were to: Back up the arcgisportal\content and \db folders Uninstall Portal, rename the old arcgisportal and Portal folders, then do a clean-install of Portal Replace config-store-connection.json file Check the "sharedkey" value in files. Reindex Portal. Replace most of the folders from the old arcgisportal\content to the new arcgisportal\content Import the portal license in Portal Administrative Directory There's a lot more to these steps, but if you have the same issue ask your Esri Support Analyst to reference Case #03573850 for the exact steps.

Hello, We ran into this exact issue when upgrading from 10.9.1 to 11.1. For us, it was a permissions issue. The ArcGIS Server account did not have explicit permissions on the arcgisserver folder on one of the federated servers. I granted the ArcGIS Server account full control to the folder and was able to complete the upgrade. I would check the following folders: ArcGIS Server Check <installation_drive>:\arcgisserver Check <installation_drive>:\Program Files\ArcGIS Check <installation_drive>:\Python 27 Portal for ArcGIS Check <installation_drive>:\arcgisportal Check <installation_drive>:\Program Files\ArcGIS ArcGIS Data Store Check <installation_drive>:\arcgisdatastore Check <installation_drive>:\Program Files\ArcGIS

Hello, We closed our support case with Esri today. It was determined that this is a defect: BUG-000147597: Upgrading a base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment causes hosted services to fail intermittently after a machine reboot. We found that the true fix was stopping and starting the ArcGIS Server Windows service. Esri mentioned a possible workaround of setting up a dependency of ArcGIS Server on Portal. We also tried a workaround of increasing start up times on the ArcGIS Server Service, but that did not work. Our temporary workaround is to have a script stop and start the ArcGIS Server Service each morning.

A user just got this error in ArcGIS Pro trying to publish to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1. The issue was permissions- they did not have the Publisher role in Portal. Once I changed the user's role, the error message went away.

It does not look like it is possible. According to the documentation, "Note: You cannot disable schema locking on map services configured to use the shared instance pool." Source: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/administer/windows/disabling-schema-locking-on-a-map-service.htm

I subscribe to all of the components at 10.9.1 but have never received a notification of a new patch like I used to at older versions. This led me to find a new way. Step 2 of this documentation (https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/10.9.1/administer/windows/check-for-software-patches-and-updates.htm) shows how you can run the tool from the command line. I get by with Python, so I'm sure this could be done in a more elegant way: I created a batch file that runs Patch Notification in the command line and then writes it to a text file. patchnotification.bat -c > D:\PatchNotification\PortalReport.txt This runs on all the machines that have Enterprise components. I then use Python to email myself the text files. This runs on a weekly basis. Could definitely be improved, but I am less likely to miss a patch now.

Hello again! Just wanted to update you on our case with Esri. A Portal for ArcGIS patch was released on 11/14, and was updated on 11/21: https://support.esri.com/en/Products/Enterprise/portal-for-arcgis/portal-for-arcgis/10-9-1#downloads?id=8070. Esri wants us to apply this patch. They also had us update all of the Enterprise components (Portal, Server, Data Store) Window Services from "Automatic (Delayed Start)" to "Automatic." Our next set of patches does not get applied until December so it will be some time before we can know if this fixes the issue.

I have a feature layer and a related table. Is there a way to filter the feature layer based off of a field in the related table in a web map? For example, I have a sites feature layer and a related results table. I want to put a filter on the results table where the field "contamination" is equal to "yes". I want the sites layer to only show only the sites that have related records with “yes" in the contamination field. I know that putting a filter on the related table won't automatically filter the feature layer. Is there another creative way, possibly by using Arcade, to do this?

Your post really helped us because we couldn't find what was triggering this issue. Yesterday I looked back at our OS patching and event logs and the patching/restart dates match when the issue is occurring. I will update you when I hear from Esri.

We have a very similar issue that has been occurring at 10.8.1 and 10.9.1. Data Store seems to become disconnected from Portal/Server. The Data Store will validate, however, when we try to add a hosted feature layer to a web map we get the message "Error The layer, "name of layer", cannot be added to the map." Our fix is to run the Configure ArcGIS Server Account utility on the machine hosting ArcGIS Server. When that finishes, we open a command prompt on the Data Store server and run the "configurelicense" command. That fixes the problem without having to reboot or cause any downtime. We have not been able to figure out what is causing it or what a permanent fix is. I have a ticket open with Esri.

I had the same problem in both Chrome and IE. For me, the issue was that the path of the file was too long. Saving the exact same PNG file to my desktop and uploading it worked.
