Some teachers have asked how they might use GIS effectively in Language Arts. As it turns out, there are many applications. One recent example, proposed by language arts teacher Kelly Eddy would have students map Huck Finn's journey down the Mississippi River. In addition to simply mapping major points of interest along the river, students could practice writing skills by including brief descriptions in pop-up boxes at each key location.
