I would also be interested in replication alternatives for Utility Network feature classes. Could something be set up on DB itself or using FME to distribute the layers for consumption by third party applications? Theoretically I know this can be done a couple ways however, would doing so cause any issues on the ESRI side of things? Primarily concerned with feature classes that are consumed by third party applications and not the Utility Network layer.

It is not in the data store. The data is referenced using a UNC just the layer name. I was thinking I may need to include an os.path.join to get it to hit the actual feature class.

Thanks Jonathan, the layer names in the map doc do match what is in the Value List in the parameters of the arcpy.GetParameterAsText function though it is showing the layer name as not existing.

I have a script tool that runs in ArcGIS Desktop and a slightly modified copy that runs in ArcGIS Pro. The tool takes input from a user via arcpy.GetParameterAsText. This input corresponds with the name of a layer in map. The text string is then passed into a series of geoprocessing steps. The tool is published to Portal however, when I try and run it in a web app I get an error which reads File "e:\program files\arcgis\server\framework\runtime\arcgis\Resources\arcpy\arcpy\geoprocessing\_base.py", line 368, in describe self._gp.Describe(*gp_fixargs(args, True))) OSError: "Layer Name" does not exist. Is there something I am needing to do to convert the text string value to JSON so that the geoprocessing steps in the script will recognize the appropriate layer?

I am attempting to use ArcObjects to add a feature class to an existing replica as outlined in the code sample provided via http://resources.esri.com/help/9.3/ArcGISDesktop/dotnet/da79f58c-971a-454e-bc52-974c2c47e26a.htm#Overview. After compiling the code, ArcMap launches and I am able to add the button however, the following error is thrown: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: 'Exception from HRESULT: 0x80042601'. The ArcObjects error code would convert to -2147211775 though when searching, this returns no results.

The only solution I found to this issue was to delete the original feature layer and republish it. I'm not sure what caused the service to be view able by admins but not users or publishers however, deleting(not overwriting) and republishing worked to resolve the problem.

The error 'The layer, [lyrName], cannot be added to the map.' appears when attempting to view a feature layer (not hosted) in the Map Viewer as either Publisher or User in Portal. The same feature layer can be viewed successfully, edited and queried when logged in as administrator. The feature layer is shared with the appropriate groups. The issue does not present itself in ArcGIS Online. The feature layer which the issue was first brought to my attention has a little over 200 features in it, when published it was published with several tables. I'm assuming the root cause is something simple that I've overlooked however, cannot seem narrow it down.
