Hi, I'd like to use "forest based forecast" tool to predict future landslide based on both past landslides and past rainfalls over multiple years (and maybe other additional variables later). The input for this "forest based forecast" tool needs to be space time cube created using "Create Space Time Cube From Multidimensional Raster Layer" tool, but this latter tool will only use the first variable if the raster is multivariate. So I found the "Make Multidimensional Raster Layer", which allows you pick the variables you want, but when I run the "Make Multidimensional Raster Layer", I could not find the output. I tried multiple times and and nothing was generated in the output location. Checking the document, it says "This tool generates a temporary layer that will not persist unless it's saved to disk." My questions are: (1) is it normal for "Make Multidimensional Raster Layer" to run without any issue, but not generating output? How to properly save the output? (2) is there any other way to create the space time data cube with multiple variables (in netcdf format) as input for the "forest based forecast" tool? Thanks! Wei

I was trying to calculate floodplain delineation using rasters and got the following error (See attached screen capture). Any idea what might cause this? how to fix it? Thanks a lot! Wei

Okay, I figured out after reading some other posts. So you need to convert the .SDF file to .XML file. I was able to import successfully. However, I have another problem in computing the floodplain delineation using rasters.

I downloaded and installed the latest HEC-GeoRAS (10.7) from yellow.esri.com - /archydro/HecGeoRAS/10.7/. I prepared the geometry data in HEC_GeoRAS, exported the data to HEC-RAS (5.07),ran the model; everything worked fine to this step, but when I tried to bring the result back to ArcGIS for visualization, I got "Importing RAS data failed!" and "RAS configuration is not supported!." I did some search and tried to delete the decimal digits in spatial reference in the .xml file as one post suggested, but it still did not work, got same error messages. Any ideas or work around? Should I go back to an earlier version? Many thanks for your help! Wei

If you need to use those values as integers and not strings, you can use this: thresholdlist = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(2)
splitthreshold = [int(x) for x in thresholdlist.split(',')]
for threshold in splitthreshold:
... See 'List Comprehensions' in the Python documentation for an explanation Great! Thanks! It worked!

Hi, I'm new to python. I'd like to get a list of numbers (different flow accumulation thresholds for stream extraction) using arcpy.GetParameterAsText and then loop through the list, the relevant part of the code goes like this: thresholdlist = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(2) for threshold in thresholdlist: ... out_shp = out_prefix + threshold if not arcpy.Exists(out_shp): arcpy.gp.StreamToFeature_sa(strm, fdir, out_shp, "SIMPLIFY") But when I enter 25, 35, 45 it seems it is taking one character at a time, because it create out2 and out5, then I got error <class 'arcgisscriptin.ExecuteError'>: ERORR 000582: Error occurred during execution. I am running ArcGIS 10 and I am running it as tool. Any suggestions/ideas? Many thanks! Wei
