Yes, I get that the main geometry is a Point. However, no matter how I zoom the map in or out, edit the TextSymbol by making it smaller/larger, or even rotate it to any angle, the 'mouse-over' still fires exactly perfectly with the shape/size/orientation of the text. So it seems that the map must somehow be holding this exact geometry to be able to tell if your mouse pointer is inside it, right?

I have some TextSymbols drawing on my map. I can listen to the 'mouse-over' event from layer.on and I get the events returning correctly. The problem I am having is that the event.graphic is a Point so the geometry and the extent is just a single point instead of the actual area of the text on the map. Is there some way to get the exact geometry of the TextSymbol instead of the Point?

I am looking at this example, ArcGIS API for JavaScript Sandbox , and I was hoping to use the text editor. However, I notice that the size of the text always adjusts when you zoom in or out. Is there some way to prevent that? What I would want is for the text to behave like all of the other graphics in the example. When you zoom the map, they all stay fixed to the map at the same points.

I am trying to use the edit toolbar to edit graphics on my map. It works great for points, lines, polygons. However, any edit operation I try to perform (scale, rotate, move) all just cause the circle to disappear. I thought it must be something weird in my code, so I started with the basic Esri example page (ArcGIS API for JavaScript Sandbox). I did a minimal change to it, just adding a circle, in this fiddle (Edit fiddle - JSFiddle). You can see that you can click on the graphics and edit them fine, but if you do it to the circle there is some error. Any idea what might cause this?

Yeah, that's what I am doing for now. The $.ajax works as expected. I just wanted to use pure esri if I could. It seems like something that is supposed to work and I am just missing something. Thanks.

Do you mean like this? request = Request({url: url, handleAs: 'json', callbackParamName: 'callback', content: {f: "json", username: JSON.stringify("test"), role: JSON.stringify("user")}}, {usePost: 'true'}); That creates a Request payload of: f=json&username=%22test%22&role=%22user%22 It still doesn't look like JSON and still gives status 400.

Yeah, I did try that, and under Params it still says Request payload and the value looks like: 0=%7B&1=%22&2=s&3=y&4=s&5=_&6=a&7=s&8.... I even tried to just hard code the content like: request = Request({url: url, handleAs: 'json', callbackParamName: 'callback', content: {username: "test", role: "user"}}, {usePost: 'true'}); And I still get a Request payload that looks like: username=test&role=user

I have been using the esri.request to make get calls for a while and it's worked great: request = Request({url: url, handleAs: 'json'}); Now I have a requirement to be able to post JSON data and get a similar response. From the API reference I thought it would be as simple as: request = Request({url: url, handleAs: 'json', callbackParamName: 'callback', content: params}, {usePost: 'true'}); But I was getting a 415 error from the REST endpoint I was hitting. I looked at the developer tools, Network section, and I saw that under Params, the payload was of type Form data. I think it needs to be JSON format. I looked under Headers and Content-Type is "application/x-www-form-urlencoded". So I found the setRequestPreCallback function and started using that to set the headers["Content-Type"] = "application/json". That seemed to work because I can see Content-Type is now "application/json". However, my 415 error changed to a 400 error. If I look under Params it is not type JSON like I expect. It just says Request payload and the data looks like a string with = and & instead of a JSON format. Is there something else you have to do to make the data post as JSON?

I found an example of how to add a context menu using 3.20 API. However, this version does not include a 3D map. I can't find any way to use a context menu in 4.X. Is this not possible?
