Woops, found how to set a layer filter, just had to look in the layer settings within a map. Works as needed. Thanks!!!

I tried using a filter once I couldn't find a clip function. A filter is a clunky workaround for this purpose that appears to have 3 major drawbacks: -operations like search take just as long, suggesting the search still goes through the entire dataset and only afterwards applies the filter. I might be wrong here, but with roughly a 100th of the data I'd expect to see noticeable decrease in processing time? -panning and zooming take a long time because each data refresh due to changing visible extents causes the filter to re-run the logic (most likely?) -the filter widget does not have an "on by default" option where the filter is activated on loading the map. I could download a copy of the data and trim it as needed, but the rational for using a 3rd party service is not having to worry about manual updates as the state pushes new data.

In ArcMap it's possible to clip the extents of a map to a shape defined by a layer. Is there a way to achieve the same result in a web map? specifically I'm using pulling a service that has data statewide but I want to only see the data within a specific county.

Hello all, I am trying to pass the contents of a folder (a set of documents) to an array within a widget. In the little research I've done it seem that this must be done through a server-side script (the target folder sits in the same place as the WAB server). However I can't figure out how to execute any such script from a widget. Does the WAB support this capability since it's built on node.js? If so would an esriRequest be the right tool for the client-server communication? links to tutorials would be much appreciated, Thanks!

I'm attempting to call a php file on my server that is running WAB via an xmlhttprequest object from the widget. When I look at the browser console the widget prints the raw php code, as if the code is being read as plain text. php is installed on the server and should be working well. I'm new to anything server related so I'd like some pointers about where to look to see what I'm doing wrong.

We're in the process of deploying collector into an area with synchronization must be done on a daily basis and the only access to internet is a fairly weak network. Upon testing, Collector frequently crashes during attempting to sync. From what I've seen the most frequent solution is to keep retrying until it works. Since I'm sure many users also struggle with sync issues, I'm hoping some of you came up with usable work-arounds.

Hello all, I'm starting to use iOS devices for field collection because our clients often prefer those to android. One immediate issue I'm struggling with is how to transfer map tile packages onto the device to load custom basemaps. On my Android tablet that's a simple task, but apple thinks I can't be trusted to see the folder structure of my device. What is the preferred method for dropping files into the collector folder?

This was a hosted feature on AGOL. I've also couldn't retrieve the feature properties correctly, or load it into a map, suggesting that something was corrupted. I've since over-written the service from Desktop to restore the data.

Hi all, for a specific feature service I spontaneously cannot enable Sync for offline use with Collector. When I select "enable sync.." and attempt to save the service setting I get an error "cannot update service definition". I was able to enable off-line use when I first published the service.

I created an instance of the WAB server on my machine to debug a widget from a previous question I had. On that instance I can add a previously developed widget "GetParcelRecords", and load an app with good results.
