Thanks Robert, but I did know that. It just seems counterproductive to me that this would be an option of display that only works if you toggle the Description Tab first (since it does display in both the Contents and Preview tabs). It's analogous to not showing the "Date Modified" field in Windows Explorer until you first OPEN the Word Document, then close it. Thank you for posting. Stacy Culpepper, GISP

In Arc Catalog there is a column heading called "# of Features" that NEVER remains updated, nor displays anything but ZERO. Why even have this option? What would make it work properly??? Here is what I refer:

Thank you Beverly. This solved my problem. I would still love to know WHAT causes this so that it may be avoided in the future. Thanks again, Stacy

I for one, was never given a satisfactory answer. I'm not still looking either. The project I needed that info for was 3 years ago, haven't needed it since. Stacy

Bruce, Sorry to have been so late responding. Since my initial post, I've learned to use standalone python to work with our CAD clients for data exchange; it has been much less troublesome than when i wrote the above posting. Thank you for your info and the link. Stacy

How can we add "LEVEL" to the attribute table to export Feature Classes into assigned Microstation Levels when "LEVEL" is a Reserved Word and will terminate a command to add it to the table????

In ArcPad, does anyone know of a method to view the distance traveled while collecting data? This would appear to be a very simple (and global) request since all of our phones do this with freebie apps that will measure your run, bike ride, drive etc. ArcPad MUST have a simple method for doing this, right? Thanks, Stacy

Thank you for the clarification! Running the Export to CAD tool with the aforementioned parameters but using the ESRI default seed file (template2d.dgn) produces a readable file, though my output units are meters regardless of the projection units specified in the input shapefile (Georgia State Plane West Feet). This makes sense, as the ESRI seed file is set to meters. I figured this could be remedied by creating a copy of the ESRI seed file and simply changing the working units to feet, and using this copy as the seed file in the Export to CAD tool. The result, however, is still an unreadable output file, even though the seed file used is a V8 dgn file. What am I missing? -Brandon Brandon, Don't know if you solved your issue or not yet, but in case you did not: Make sure you choose C:\Program Files\ESRI\Data Interoperability Extension\design\seed3d_ft_v8.dgn This file will take care of the variation in Units (it did for me anyway). Would anyone be able to direct me to the right tool or tools that will take a POLYLINE (or polyline raster) overlain with a DEM raster, and obtain a 5 feet HIGHER area than the height of the floodplain boundary? Many places say to use the Euclidean Allocation tool, but the documentation for that is lacking -in my opinion. It does not perform the function I'm seeking. Thank you. Stacy

WOW! posted on Mar of 2011 and ESRI's 'watchful' techs still haven't posted an answer. Great tech support going on here.

I just began using this extension to enable our org. to work between Arc and Microstation, but there is very little, if any, documentation from ESRI regarding that particular file format and the functionality provided by the extension to support .dgn's. I'd be very appreciative of any advice or guidance anyone would offer about their experience with Data Interop and Microstation. Thanks in advance, W. Culpepper
