I figured it out (for now). I noticed I had a newer version of Microsoft Access database engine 2016 redistributable 64-bit (208 MB) -- a version that was installed a month ago (presumably during an update). I uninstalled it then quietly installed the recommended version (152 MB). ArcGIS Pro 3 and Excel are playing nicely now. I'm going to keep an eye on that engine because I'm assuming it will get updated again at the next cycle.

Non-trivial and not working Hey Gang, I’m running 64-bit Windows 10 with 64-bit Microsoft Office 365 (installed using Click-to-Run) and trying to read Excel files in ArcGIS Pro 3. Given the info above and following Esri’s decision tree (ArcGISPro_Excel_Decision_Tree_Guide_Update.png), I installed 64-bit Microsoft Windows .NET 6 Desktop Runtime and I quietly installed the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 Redistributable 64-bit driver before installing ArcGIS Pro v3 (clean install; not an update). I double-checked my installations: I ran odbcad32.exe to check my drivers; everything looks good. Yet … ArcGIS Pro 3 throws a hissy fit every time I merely touch an Excel workbook. It hangs indefinitely. There’s no way to cancel out. I need to open the task manager to kill the application. Please, what am I missing?

Dan, this is a workflow I've been using for years that is now generating unexpected behavior. I did specify both the input and the output SRS (see the figures in my post). The error literally occurs when I specify both (as one should if the desired output is different from the input). The reason I am posting is because this error did not occur in prior versions of ArcGIS Pro and is occurring now.

I have three (3) CSV formatted files containing geographic coordinates (I attached one). When I use XY Table to Point to create point features from any of them, I cannot get valid results if I set both the input SRS and the output SRS (via the Environment settings). In my case, the input SRS is WGS84; the desired output SRS is NAD83-2011 State Plane CA-II (0402). Parameters Environments The XY Table to Point tool does create points, but it misinterprets the desired output SRS as the defined input SRS and, so, plots all the points near the false origin of the CA-II coordinate system (i.e., out in the Pacific Ocean). I now have to use a two-step process to accomplish what used to be a one-step process: 1) use XY Table to Point to create point features tied to the input SRS; then 2) use the Project tool to handle the coordinate conversion. I'm running ArcGIS Pro 2.5.0 on Windows 10 Pro.

I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.4 to sort records in a polygon attribute table. I get different orderings when I sort values and when I sort values after changing the display format (e.g., show 2 decimal places, pad with zeroes). This unexpected (and unwanted) behavior suggests ArcGIS is sorting my data as they appear in my table view AND NOT as I have them stored (double). For comparison, I sorted the same data in Excel (before and after formatting the display precision of my columns). Excel returns the same and correct order regardless of how I change the display precision. For comparison, I sorted the same data in Python. Python returns the same order regardless of how I change the display precision. Why is ArcGIS sorting my table view and not the actual data?

Are all your weight fields (your Ws) stored using numeric data types? If any (or all) of your weight fields is (are) defined as text strings, then trying to multiply by a string will cause the calculation to fail.

Thanks for posting this, for you helped me answer an unrelated question. I had a student that used a text editor to edit a *.cal file, but on [Load], all the characters had "changed" to Chinese. We kept trying to fix it by saving to UTF-8 or ANSI, but ... UC2-2 LE BOM. Thanks. While I'm here, has the big question been answered yet? Not here, obviously, but elsewhere? "And the biggie....Why can't you use Python *.py files?"
