My company has a corporate office and a field office which are about 50 miles apart. We put our GIS Server in the corporate office because it has great internet connection speeds, but I work from our field office. This requires me to edit my data over this connection because the data is in a Geodatabase in an instance of MS SQL Express 2008. To improve my editing performance we're talking about moving the GIS Server to the field office. Other than redirecting our DNS to the new IP and opening ports on the field office firewall are there any other changes I'll need to make? We're moving the whole machine, not migrating to a new one.

I'm trying to put my Operations Dashboard Browser link in a SharePoint Foundation 2013 Page Viewer Web Part. It shows up on the page but the dashboard fails to load. It loads fine if I paste the link into a browser, but in the page viewer it says "Loading operations view..." "Loading map..." with the sub text "If loading the Operation View takes longer than 30 seconds to complete, it is possible that one or more resources may no longer be accessible. Please contact the owner of the Operation View you are trying to open for details." Then after a few minutes I get the message, "ERROR You do not have permissions to access this resource." I'm logged into my organizations ArcGIS site as an Administrator, what permissions could I be missing? Thanks, Jon

When I add the HTML Widget (http://scheid.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=77022884dcb14cf3bc186a98b3f7aeb4) to my single display dashboard I get this error when I try to view it in a brower. Operations Dashboard Error Ember.Object.create only accepts objects. 6945d24eea944d6984f0718a6534d7bc Is this Add-In just not supported in browsers? Is there another way to embed web pages into a dashboard where I can also view the dashboard in a browser? Thanks, Jon

Is there a connector to input location and attribute data from Trimble GPS units? It was advertised quite a bit but I can't find anything anywhere. I have an AgGPS 162 unit paired with a Trimble DCM-300C modem. Has anyone done this yet? Thanks, -Jon

I have polygon Feature Classes joined to their attributes in a SQL Server Express database table. This way I don't have to keep a copy of the data in my Feature Class, and the data changes are reflected in my maps as soon as our DBA makes updates to the DB. This is also handy for data that's constantly updating. I've been doing this for a long time but whenever I share a joined Feature Class as a service I get the High Severity Code 10014 message saying that this type of join will slow performance. I've also noticed other limitations with this method like being unable to have Feature-Linked Annotation based on the joined fields, not being able to edit the joined fields, or being able to filter with a Web App because of the join. Is there a better way to create live links between Feature Classes and SQL Tables and Views or do I just have to live with the performance hit and limitations? BTW my ArcSDE Geodatabase is in the same SQL Server instance as the tables I'm joining to. Thanks, -Jon

I'm trying to create a Map Service that when added to my Silverlight Viewer Web App will show the live location of tractors and equipment. The data will come from an XML data feed. The feed is described as an "HTTPS, ???RESTful??? web service" that uses Basic Authentication. The feed is encoded using UTF-8. I haven't been able to find a way to import the data feed into anything. I've been told that GeoEvent Server will do it, but that doesn't release until Q1 of next year. I was also told that a developer could write something to get the feed into a geodatabase or SQL database. I do have a SQL Server Express 2005 database, and if I could get it into there that would work. Does anyone have any ideas or could point me in the right direction? Thanks, -Jon

I called ESRI Support and found out that I had to copy the clientaccesspolicy.xml into C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Server10.0\java\manager\web_output instead of C:\Inetpub\wwwroot because I'm using the ArcGIS Server for Java. Put the .xml in the right place and it worked. Thanks, -Jon

This is exactly the problem I am having. When I use Fiddler2 the same clientaccesspolicy.xml and crossdomain.xml errors come up. I added a clientaccesspolicy.xml file to the server's wwwroot folder but when I try to browse to the resource in the Silverlight Viewer it looks for the clientaccesspolicy.xml at http://servername.domain.com:8399/clientaccesspolicy.xml when it is actually at http://servername.domain.com:81/clientaccesspolicy.xml. It seems that what I put in the clientaccesspolicy.xml doesn't matter because it never gets to the point of reading it. Any idea how I can get the Silverlight Viewer to look on port 81 or how to get my .xml on port 8399? Thanks, -Jon

I am having the exact issue defined in the article in the Resource Center here. When I paste the URL of my Resource in the Browse function in the Silverlight Viewer I get the error message "Connection Error: Unable to connect to (URL)". I went through the steps numerated in the above article but have not made any progress. My ArcGIS Services Directory works when I navigate to the http://<host>/arcgis/rest/services URL, and the REST endpoint is available. My Silverlight application and data (services) are on the same server and domain so I shouldn't need a clientaccesspolicy.xml file. I don't know what they mean by "InitializationFailure event on the layer" in the fourth solution, where would I find this? Finally I used Silverlight Spy while trying to browse to the resource but the output didn't report anything even with the output trace level at verbose. I've spent all day on this one, any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Jon

I am working with a polyline shapefile of vineyard rows equally spaced with a point shapefile of diseased vines, missing vines, etc. The points are somewhat scattered and I want them to be snapped to their appropriate row. I've read a bunch of different threads about snapping but they all seem to be based on a tolerance and I need to snap based on a common row number attribute since a point could be closer to the wrong row. Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this?
