Wow. This request was made in 2012, and now 2018 is about to end and still we are in need of this functionality. What a performance by ESRI. If you don't want to implement any functionality, then why not to inform the users that they will not get it ???

I have upgraded my ArcGIS Desktop and Server to version 10.4.1 Now when I try to connect to my older geodatabases, I get the following error: Geodatabase version is 10.3.1 and is hosted on SQL Server 2008. I have tried upgrading Native clients provided from ESRI download page, but their installation show message that I have already installed higher version of Native clients. Thanks, Muhammad Almas

I am using self-signed certificate for test purpose only right now. I have also contacted my IT administrator to provide CA certificate, but that might take a while when I hear back from him. I know self-signed certificates are no good ☺, but until I hear back from him, they are only option I have got. (This link was also quite helpful. I might give a try to OpenSSL) https://blog.httpwatch.com/2013/12/12/five-tips-for-using-self-signed-ssl-certificates-with-ios/ I should also thank you for time and effort in helping me out. I will let you know about any progress when I get CA Certificate from my IT guys. Regards, Muhammad Almas

Hi Miaogeng Yes my iPad is on the internal network. I can connect to portal and make edits in my feature layer but when I try to download the map in collector app, it starts download but after a while it shows error message: "The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "my_machine_name" which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyways?” I have also installed the ssl certificate on iPad as you outlined last time, but in iPad settings, its status is being shown as “not verified”. Can this issue be related to self-signed certificate from IIS manager, because that is the one I am using at this time ? Thanks, Muhammad Almas

Thanks for your help, and the problem is Partially solved… Looks like it was more issue of the Feature service than the basemap. Portal and ArcGIS server were using different SSL Certificates. I modified them to use same SSL certificate from ArcGIS Server admin page, and the previous error of empty username/password disappeared. However now when in collector app I select download, it gets started, but after a while I get following error: "The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "my_machine_name" which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyways?” This dialog box only shows one OK button, but when I click it and try to download again, the same error appears. I should also point out that my Portal and ArcGIS webserver are yet not exposed to public internet. Regards, Muhammad Almas
