I think you're right, but I'm curious if you just want to hide the "non-metric" ones? (which I think is the most common scenario). Or do you want even more fine-grained control? Correct, I only want to hide the non-metric units. I already have added Nautical Miles and Square Nautical Miles units as suggested in this" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/81680-Nautical-Miles-Units-for-Measurement-Tool?p=317053&viewfull=1#post317053']this thread. --- EDIT: Although, an added way to write which units are shown from the Measurement drop-down menu would be even better.

How do I hide units in the measurement widget? There doesn't seem to be a method in the JS API to hide a unit. As an added note, I know how to add units to the unitDictionary and add them into the location and area dropdown menus, but I don't know how to remove unwanted units from the menus.

You could manipulate the DOM with an event listener on the overview map dijit But, yeah, that gets ugly and unnecessarily complex.

I've looked through the settings and customization in 10.1 as well as the help documentation, and it doesn't look like that is easily changeable, as far as I can tell. I'm guessing this could be altered in the program code itself!

Any reason why you couldn't just instantiate your own Popups/InfoWindows? (rather than using the single instance attached to the map) This. The InfoWindow is just a single div attached to the map. I'm sure it would be easier to call several divs outside of the map div, but as an overlay, or something.

I've done what shlam suggests, i.e. I've created 2 feature definitions, first with the fill and the 2nd with the hollow fill. I use the 2nd feature definition for editing and placing polygon features, but use the first for displaying the features - it's a work around, but it works.

I'd like to set a setting that while I create a polygon feature that it is hollow while I place vertexes, but when I'm finished with the polygon feature it is assigned the current symbol and fill color. I hope I'm clear in what I mean. Basically, while I edit, it has a hollow (none) fill, and when it is finished it has a set fill. --- Reason being for this setting is because I'm placing features that are transparent and a have a line-through symbol and I need to be able to distinguish from what I've already placed based on an aerial image (so I can see where I've already put features down). But. Sometimes it's hard to see where I have to place vertexes while editing because the feature overlap where I'm supposed to put a vertex.

I've made a small hack for changing the background colour of a map, thusly: dojo.byId("map_root").style.cssText += "background-color:#99B3CC; "; I've tried doing the same for the overview map, but either the entire overview map changes the colour, or nothing changes. I've tried this on the dijits: esri_dijit_OverviewMap_0-map_graphics_layer and esri_dijit_OverviewMap_0-map_gc Is there a legitimate way to alter the overview map background colour?

I didn't even know of the existence of the measurement tool 😕 I've implemented it, and it works fine, except for one thing: How can I use other measurement units than the standard choices. I'm particularly thinking of using nautical miles.

After going through the code and the MapServer, I found out that it wasn't in what we usually use (which is WGS84 UTM29), but in webmercator ESRI:54004 Now the projections are correct down to +/- 1m. Silly me.

I'm trying to implement the Proj4js to convert geographic points from EPSG:32629 to EPSG:4326, instead of using geometry service, because it is easier on the server to do the conversion client-side. I've followed the guide here: http://www.polygongis.com/index.php/2011/05/02/proj4js-client-side-coordinate-conversion/ But the converted points are incorrect, compared to the geometry service that we have running. The webpage we have it running on is: http://www.munin.fo/fiskikort.html (might not be available in the future) but the relevant code is: <script type="text/javascript" src="proj4js/lib/proj4js-combined.js"></script>
Proj4js.defs["EPSG:4326"] = "+proj=longlat +ellps=WGS84 +datum=WGS84 +no_defs";
Proj4js.defs["EPSG:32629"] = "+proj=utm +zone=29 +ellps=WGS84 +datum=WGS84 +units=m +no_defs";
var src = new Proj4js.Proj("EPSG:32629");
var dst = new Proj4js.Proj("EPSG:4326");
/* ... */
function projektión(evt) {
// get mapPoint from event and display the mouse coordinates
var point = new Proj4js.Point(evt.x, evt.y);
var outpt = Proj4js.transform(src, dst, point);
console.log("x: " + outpt.x + " y: " + outpt.y);
} I must be doing something wrong because the examples I've seen show that Proj4js works instead of a geometry service.

I'm trying to figure out how to use the Draw toolset in this sample as a "measuring stick": http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/demos/toolbar/toolbar_draw.html What I'm trying to accomplish is that a user will be able to see the distance on the map from a starting point to the end point. What I already know is that this can be accomplished with a point-to-point distance measurement using the map method toScreen to get the coordinates and then simply calculating the distance (using our old friend Pythagoras) between the two points, but I'm at a loss how to do this with the Draw toolset.

I have a problem with hiding the Overview map once I've programmatically made it visible. I reckon it is how I refresh the Overview map with 'overviewMapDijit.startup()' since it shows in the console that it is set to be hidden, even though it's still visible. Might this be a bug or a refresh problem? dojo.connect(map, 'onLoad', function(theMap) { // resize the map when the browser resizes dojo.connect(dijit.byId('map'), 'resize', map,map.resize); // add the overview map overviewMapDijit = new esri.dijit.OverviewMap({ NLS_drag: "flyt til at broyta kort ekstentið", NLS_hide: "Goym yvirlitskortið", NLS_show: "Vís yvirlitskortið", map:map, visible: false, opacity: .25, attachTo:"top-right", color:"#FF0000", expandFactor: 4 // kortið zoomar í mesta lagið 4 ferðir størri enn overview kortið vísur. }); overviewMapDijit.startup(); var scalebar = new esri.dijit.Scalebar({ map: map, scalebarUnit:'metric' }); }); dojo.connect(map, "onZoomEnd", function(evt) { if (map.extent.xmax - map.extent.xmin < 150000) { overviewMapDijit.visible = true; overviewMapDijit.startup(); } if (map.extent.xmax - map.extent.xmin > 150000) { overviewMapDijit.visible = false; overviewMapDijit.startup(); } });
