After installing 2023.3.1, the ArcGIS Monitor service would not start because the ArcGIS-Monitor.exe file did not exist. The only files in the Monitor installation directory were 3 log files in the BIN directory. The Framework, Help, License & Tools directories were not there at all. Basically, it was as if Monitor was removed from the machine & nothing was installed. I tried the 2023.3.1 installation twice & this was the result both times. I saw no alternative other than to revert back to a snapshot to get us back to our functioning 2023.3 deployment. I can put in a case with tech support.

I was hopeful that the 2023.3.1 update would resolve the issues that we're seeing. Our installation of the 2023.3.1 completed without any errors, but no ArcGIS-Monitor.exe file was in the BIN folder after installing it. Very odd. We reverted to a snapshot & are back to running 2023.3.

I submitted a support ticket for this issue & was advised to use the "export_site" command via one of the APIs. After researching the API options (REST vs Python), I settled on using the ArcGIS API for Python, which is working quite well. Here's the reference: https://developers.arcgis.com/python/api-reference/arcgis.gis.admin.html#site I did ask the support specialist to put in a request to enhance the WebGisDr documentation to include clear information about available alternatives. If the documentation had included information about alternatives, I probably would not have needed to tie up any time with Esri Support. The support specialist responded with the following to that request: As for your request, I don't believe this would fall under the umbrella of being a defect or a software enhancement, so there isn't anything official I can submit through our Support case. The best method would be to post, as you mentioned, on ArcGIS Enterprise Ideas or share your experience and solution on Esri Community. With community involvement and Esri developers reviewing these posts, I think this would give us the best chance at seeing a change made in the future.

The WebGisDr utility provides excellent options for backing up a portal. Unfortunately, if servers that have cached tile services are federated to the portal, there is no way to exclude the tile caches from being included in the portal backup. Considering that tile caches can be quite large, this limitation can prevent portal backups from being feasible. Because tile caches are strictly file based and are typically quite static, it is very easy to back these up via simple file backup routines, making their inclusion in portal backups unnecessary under most circumstances.

I agree that for any relatively current Esri technology, there are sufficient alternatives to versioned views. The ongoing value of versioned views is that they provide a SQL native way to integrate GIS data with other systems. It would be tremendously helpful for Esri to provide a geoprocessing tool that could be used to create or update a versioned view for a branch versioned feature class. In absence of this, the approach described here appears to be helpful.

Hi Matt - I have been researching the same thing & have not yet attempted to connect our GS16 to Field Maps or Collector. I did find this post from a few years back, which seems to indicate that it is possible to use the GS16 with Collector. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-collector-questions/has-anyone-successfully-paired-the-lecia-gs16-gps/td-p/758291 I hope that this is helpful & I look forward to hearing about how you fare. -Mike

I'm glad that you're asking this question. I'm wondering whether ArcGIS Pro 2.2 even has an equivalent to the Ground to Grid Correction setting that is available in the ArcGIS Desktop Editing Options dialog:
