Now that the new Collector is released for iOS do we see support for Arcade expressions? We are looking to use in Collector with auto increment or calculating values based on input is available.

We are having the same issue with the AGOL tiled basemaps. About half way through download errors out and states the request timed out. Portal reports; https://tiledbasemaps.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Topo_Map/MapServer/exportTiles/submitJob? I removed token portion &serviceproxy=true&servicename=World_Topo_Map&serviceType=MapServer' is not accessible: Timeout. Read timed out. This was working fine yesterday April 3rd. Just started happening today. thanks Frank

Hi, can you try copying the .geodatabase file to the local machine and then running the tool? Basically shorten the path to a local. We had this same issue and that resolved it. Not sure if its the length of the patch or if UNC paths are problematic.

Yes it was. It was based on a configuration issue which we resolved; an issue with Portal for ArcGIS 10.3.1 when trying to store credentials for adding ArcGIS Online basemaps. We recently spoke over the phone and resolved this issue with the following: When you try to add an item to Portal, it runs a checkUrl.jsp request to the outbound resource, off your network. https://server.name.com/arcgis/sharing/checkUrl.jsp?url=https%3A//tiledbasemaps.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/USA_Topo_Maps/MapServer%3Ff%3Djson&f=json This request originates from the javaw.exe process of Portal on the Portal machine as that user. If your environment is configured to use a forward proxy, it is essential to tell Portal this, which we did with the below workflow: http://server.arcgis.com/en/portal/10.3/administer/windows/using-a-forward-proxy-server-with-portal-for-arcgis.htm We specifeid your proxy name and port for HTTP and HTTPS outbound connections. This picked up and now items could be added and the credentials could be stored, fixing the issue at hand.

When adding AGOL tiled basemaps to Portal for ArcGIS there is no option to store credentials. Also when I add the proper credentials I am continuously prompted to reenter. I have three separate Portal instances setup in our global enterprise where only one allows me to store the credentials for the tiled basemaps, where as the other too fail to offer this option. I have reviewed the configurations and security setups and have determined a similar configuration as they should be. The configuration consists of single server instances with properly federated servers and IWA with external access through a secure firewall. The only trouble shooting guidance from a previous ESRI support ticket has been possible issues with the firewall and valid certificates. I did try to do some tracing with Fiddler as suggested by ESRI and do notice a token call but no evident error is captured. Fiddler can be troublesome in some internal environments if you haven't noticed.I have updated and have verified valid CA certs on all machines. I can still use the tiled basemaps in Portal and Collector without issue once I re-enter the valid AGOL credentials however this is becoming a nuisance issue for our users. Has anyone experienced similar scenarios and if so did you resolve them? I am re-opening the ticket with ESRI to see if we can resolve as well as working with my IT group on these specific servers firewall rules. 10.3.1 platform; Server, Portal, WAs, Desktop IIS 7 WinServer 2008 R2

Finally getting back to summarize this issue as we just closed it last week. After exhaustive trouble shooting efforts on behalf of ESRI technical support and and my company's IT group we were unable to resolve the issue. ESRI technical support verified that the configuration is supported and ran several tests with a similar environment. They were very diligent in the effort. Support and testing by my IT group did not find any deliberate blocking of the app or Android device. The same url calls and security chatter is evident from both iOS and Android so we were not able to find anything out of the ordinary. No firewall or AD issues stood out. So to summarize; -can reach Portal and login to Collector from internal wifi on Android -login credentials work for user@domain -can collect/ post data on online wifi but not able to download map for offline use. Some error when downloading AGOL basemaps, probably related to our network issues. May work for custom basemap. -"cannot" reach Portal from external wifi on Android, even though we are setup for external over https -iOS products and Win10 work without issue No culprit was ever identified other than it is probably our internal network somewhere! So at this point we have decided not to pursue anymore investigation. From our side this just makes the Android option not a viable option, yet. thankx

This may be the correct syntax for some however we are still being denied access. I have a ticket opened up with my network team as well as ESRI. According to ESRI on a ticket I have opened they can login with similar environment using domain\user. So we are seeing different variations. However your stating that the login should match the login used in the web portal page from a browser. I will post back my findings.

When logging into our Portal for ArcGIS in Collector on Android we are constantly denied access. We can enter the Portal address in ColIector and be presented with the login screen however upon entering what would seem to be valid credentials and iterations of we get the following error in Collector; Could not sign in. Please check the url and credentials, and try again. I can see 401 errors caught in fiddler and IIS, Using the same account(s) on iOS is no issue. Have tried several iterations of user login (user@domain, user, user@FQDN). Some of the Android login discussion is here, Android ArcGIS Collector App Cannot Authenticate with Windows Active Directory , which is relevant to our previous configuration with ADFS. We have since moved to a configuration with federation and Windows AD user store and IWA in IIS as outlined here, Using Integrated Windows Authentication with your portal—Portal for ArcGIS (10.3 and 10.3.1) | ArcGIS for Server. Interestingly I can login into portal website from Chrome browser on Android device(s). Does anyone have this type of configuration and if so what is result. Does it work? Collector for Android ArcGIS Portal 10.3.1 Server 10.3.1 IIS7 Win 2008 R2 Answers and comments much appreciated. Frank

Thanks for the reply. If I’m understanding correctly by “double-pressing” the unit it is turned off or is it just actually exiting the connection to the Collector app while still being BT connected to the device. The reason I ask is if the unit is powered down is the time to power back up and reconnect significant? We will purchase the unit and use for our POC. Thankx Frank

Hi We are very interested in the model CHS 8Ci barcode device and and are wondering if ESRI is supporting this workflow now or any barcode workflows? Also as questioned in the blog by several users replies will using in HID mode "replace the virtual keyboard" or will a user be able to enter values into the other attribute fields with out disabling the barcode device? Aaron says: Does this replace the internal keyboard once paired? Our workflow would require scanning a barcode, then updating maybe 10 attributes. It would be unreasonable to have to pair the scanner for each feature visited in the field, then unpair it to get the keyboard back for the rest of the collection event. January 25, 2015 at 9:45 am Reply amarinelli says:I am curious about this as well. The article says “replaces the virtual keyboard” and unless there is a quick way to switch between the real keyboard and the HID of the device, this is not ideal for scanning and editing other attribute fields.April 14, 2015 at 10:23 amReply

Thanks Russell thanks for the information. I would prefer to have clients use 10.3 as well. My constraint unfortunately is that my field clients only have access to 10.1 Basic and I'm trying to utilize the script at that version. My field clients don't have internet access in their locations for days sometimes weeks. Without internet the ability to sync from Collector or even email the .geodatabase file to in house staff is limited. So finding an alternative for the field user to get the data into ArcMAP 10.1 would be beneficial. Any other suggestions?

I think Im answering my own question here but after some research here is what I found in the Federation documentation for Portal 10.3.1. Configure a hosting server—Portal for ArcGIS (10.3 and 10.3.1) | ArcGIS for Server You can configure one of your federated ArcGIS Server sites to be a hosting server for your portal to allow portal members to do the following: Publish tile layers to the portal. Publish feature layers to the portal. Publish scene layers to the portal (ArcGIS Data Store only). Add a zipped shapefile, CSV file, or GPS Exchange Format file to the portal map viewer. So with a federated server using a enterprise geodb you can do all the above except "publish scene layers". Any additional user insight on this product is welcomed. Frank
