Any luck with this yet? I am looking at accomplishing something similar and have too many locations to do it manually!

Hi Anthony, Do you know if you have any plans to add support for labels with ArcGIS Maps for PowerBI? We are already utilizing point data on the map, so we don't want to add more redundant points whose purpose is only for labeling data (as it will take away from the thematic mapping and make our data less clear). We would like the ability to label polygons (ie. the Alberta Township System grid). Adding the grid doesn't do us much good if we cant label it, and a labeled grid would go a long way in making our reference layers much more useful in BI. Thanks

I also have a regular use for labels or annotations with multiple leaders. I feel like this is a fairly basic mapping component that should have been added ages ago. Creating additional feature classes is quite a time consuming workaround.

Thanks for your suggestion! I wouldn't say my mxds are very complex.. one of my maps I am trying only has 8 features in it so I'm pretty baffled as to what is causing it to fail. I'll keep trying different mxds to try and figure out what is causing it. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know! .

I just upgraded to 2.4.2 and I am unable to import a huge selection of my mxd's in ArcPro. I've tried mxd doctor with no luck. Is there anything specifically that may be restricting me opening my mxd in Pro? I was hoping to avoid rebuilding my maps from scratch. Not to mention I have completely had it with ArcMap Legend exporting issues. pro 2.4.2 import_error import mxd

Hi Scott, I'd just like to confirm that it is not possible to auto populate field with x and y coordinates? I looked through the links you posted above and I can't seem to find anything using Arcade expressions to accomplish this. It would be a huge help for using Collector at my company. Thanks

I was able to find an answer to my question if anyone else is having this issue: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/289694/labeling-using-chemical-formulas-with-subscripts-and-a-mask-in-arcmap-10-…

Hey Kory, Thanks so much for giving my problem a thought! I am aware of the formatting tags; however, I am not sure if they can help me. My attribute table is full of values like KMnO 4 -2 , you are correct the table stores it as plain text KMnO4-2 (which is not sufficient for our scientists). I am having an issue figuring out how to make this work, as not every number will be a subscript, so I can’t just code an advanced expression to subscript all numerical characters. The only way I can see formatting tags helping is if I split up the Chemical formulas, so each element has their own attribute, and each element will have a separate attribute for both number of elements and charge. Then I could write an expression like the example you have given me, but I would need to implode these formulas manually into their own attributes as they aren’t even all the same length (so I can’t use string functions to implode). By the time I would have everything split up into attributes I could have probably just done them manually using VBA/Python (both would be insane with my quantity of data). Any further suggestions or thoughts are greatly appreciated though! Cheers, Michael Huber

ESRI ESRI, Could you please allow for attribute tables to retain subscript/superscript formatting? As right now any chemical formulas convert to plain text and this is not of sufficient enough to present for industry standards. Currently I have to add this formatted text manually via copy/paste from Microsoft. However this method will not allow for, or retain a mask/glow; and without the mask the labels are not very legible when placed on a map or over a satellite image. IF it is not possible to allow the attribute table to retain formatting: At the very least could you add a text box which has the capabilities to format sub/superscript (and retain a mask)? As using insert>object>wordDoc also does not allow for special effect text (such as a mask/glow). Currently (in 10.6) any text that supports a mask/glow will not support subscripts/superscripts. *With exception of html script but this is not realistic for my quantity of my data*

I was afraid of that... darn. I have far too much data to do it all manually though html or unicode. Maybe ESRI will address that in a future version? As I know Arc is widely used among scientists and I can't be the only person with this issue. Thanks for getting back to me Dan!!

I am also looking for an answer to this. x wont help me as it will make the whole attribute a subscript. I am looking for the attribute to retain its subscript / superscript properties. For example, I need to label points using chemical formulas that have both subscripts and superscripts... And these chemical formulas are in the attribute table of my shape/feature
