I bought the same computer for home, and have ArcGIS Pro installed on that too. This is an awesome computer, and I have never had an issue with it either.

Jayanta: Thanks for your help and suggestions. I believe this worked...for some reason I must have been using a quick start type StoryMap template, and it wasn't offering me the options that your suggestions have. But now I'm able to see the options and can edit and make it work. I just have to learn more about it now to get better and creating a StoryMap on-the-fly as it were. Thanks again

We're currently using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1, and I have just created my first Story Map. However when I started creating I only obtained one template, can only make very minor changes to formatting, and there doesn't seem to be any option to use a different theme (or to customize one's theme). Does this option not come with this version of ArcGIS Enterprise? 1) Where can I download blank Story Map templates that I can customize? Or 2) Am I able to customize the theme using my current Story Map building in Portal for ArcGIS 10.8.1? Thank you

I have been using the print widget in Portal for ArcGIS for almost 2 years now, but I have never encountered this problem before. We have two main orthophotos that we use in Portal for staff to use (2017 and 2020 orthophotos). Both are easily the most popular layers we have in our system. I recently (before Xmas 2020) upgraded our ArcGIS Enterprise to version 10.8.1, so I'm hoping this isn't bug related. The problem I'm encountering is that only one of these orthophoto images now appears in any image that I create when using the print widget. Our 2017 orthophoto appears, but the 2020 orthophoto is ignored. This is a screen shot of the area in question with both orthophoto layers turned on (the standard ESRI satellite image is the base layer): This is the same image as captured through Portal's print widget: Both images are cached, and both work really well...it's really only the print widget that's not capturing the details (and layers) that are there. Can anyone offer an explanation on what might be causing this? I'm using Google Chrome and I initially thought that it might be a browser cache issue, but the same thing happens when I use Firefox. Thanks

Kory: Thanks for the suggestion...this helps. I thought about a definition query but was wondering how much that might slow down the process when one creates dozens of them from one feature class. So at least I now know I'm not missing something major 😆. However, it's not like my data is a huge drain on the system either, so I'm sure definition queries will work well. I was just hoping that there would have been a built-in function (of which I was not yet aware) that would be able to handle this in ArcGIS Pro 😁. Perhaps one day I guess. The only other alternative would be for me to add dozens of separate feature classes in our enterprise geodatabase, but that just causes a lot of unnecessary clutter...so I think the definition query is probably the best way to go. Thanks for clarifying though...it's always great to get the opinions from others who have more experience with this than I do.

I think I'm more impressed that this question has been asked several times over the past 9 years 😆. Thanks for the responses though...at least I know I'm not asking for something silly 🤔

I'm using ArcGIS Pro 2.7, and have a request from a user that has me stumped. I have a single feature class that has been symbolized by unique attribute values. However, the user wants to be able to toggle the individual attributes on and off, much like they do when they toggle a feature class on and off. Is it possible to be able to toggle the symbolized items on and off in ArcGIS Pro? The only way I seem to be able to do this would be to enter separate feature classes in our geodatabase for each feature, but in this example that would mean adding 28 separate feature classes just so the user can turn them on and off during a discussion/meeting. I'm just curious if ArcGIS Pro will allow me to set up a feature class to function this way. Thanks.

Sam: Thanks for the response...most appreciated. I haven't yet tried to publish each of these 5 layers individually, but I do have one map that only has the problem layer as a part of that map's service. Whenever the problem starts it seems to do it in all of the map services though. The odd thing though is that when I republish I don't have to change anything in these map services...they all return as intended (i.e. even though I get the warning when overwriting a map service that my popups will be affected, nothing ever seems to happen to them after republishing). It's either something new in 10.8.1, or this is very abnormal behavior...I don't know yet. What I mean by customized popup is that for a feature class that has no significant database attributes I simply customize the information in Portal so when the user does indeed click on the polygon they at least see something that is more meaningful than OBJECT ID, SHAPE, etc. So in this case, when the user clicks on this area they will see something meaningful (I just find it easier to do this than to update fields in our geodatabase): This is also the layer that is causing me grief. Sometimes it shows up (like it does now), and other times it's the only layer of the 5 in this map service that doesn't show up. But if it's the customized popup that is now causing the problem, then updating the attributes in the feature class would be an option. I would first like to determine what is causing this problem though 😎.

I created a map service for Portal 10.8.1 (using ArcGIS Pro 2.6.3 from which I published). This map service contains 5 frequently used map layers, and they all draw to the screen exactly as expected after publishing. However, the next day two of these map layers always refuse to appear, whereas the other 3 are usually fine. If I republish the map service these reluctant layers do reappear, but the next day it's back to the 2 missing layers, which is most frustrating. The only difference between these 2 map layers and the other 3 is that the popups have been customized (as opposed to using the default database tables/attributes), because there is no relevant data in these areas (just a name of what they represent). Has anyone ever encountered this issue before? I have tried clearing the browser's cache, but this did not fix the problem. Surely I don't have to publish this one map service every day, correct? Suggestions?

Aaron: Admittedly, none of this is my forte and I'm struggling to start. How does one edit the oauth2.js file so that changes will be reflected in the Portal log in screen? If I can learn what needs to be edited by making a small change and seeing that reflected in the login window I can then start to add HTML code to enhance our Portal login experience. Ideally, something like this would be perfect for our organization: I have tried to edit this file (using Notepad++) to make a minute/subtle change to see if this works (i.e. if I could get that to work then I would know that I'm at least dealing with the correct .js file), but none of my changes made any difference. Suggestions? (and don't say take a Javascript course as that's too obvious LOL). Thanks

Elliot: Thanks for the info...this certainly helps us acquire a better understanding of what to expect in the future. We don't have a massive Portal yet, but it will continue to grow, so with that in mind our upgrade expectations should be more congruent with the size of our Portal.

I'm in the process of upgrading our ArcGIS Enterprise. I have already successfully upgraded our Portal for ArcGIS. I have also just successfully installed ArcGIS Server 10.81., and then was prompted to log into ArcGIS Server Manager. This is where I usually run into errors. I am never able to log into ArcGIS Server Manager at this stage...nothing seems to work. However, in my install notes from last time I have an entry in there that says I need to first install the ArcGIS Server Web Adaptor before I can log into ArcGIS Server Manager. But I was positive that ESRI Tech Support told me last time that it's actually the other way around...that I needed to demonstrate a connection to ArcGIS Server Manager before the Web Adaptor is installed and configured. Can someone help me set the record straight here? I have already uninstalled the older version of our web adaptor in preparation to install the new version (as we're not supposed to attempt to install a newer version of the web adaptor over an existing - older - version). Do I go ahead and install the web adaptor, or continue trying to log into ArcGIS Server Manager? Thanks
