Hi, would your workflow work if you opened the Web Map in AGOL in your browser, made changes, and save it? In that case any changes would be immediately visible in your app and it wouldn't require repointing anything. Apologies if I'm missing something. I tend to find that if you can do things purely in your browser, that can be cleaner than going back to Pro. Also bear in mind that Web Layers can be overwritten from Pro even if Web Maps can't, so maybe in some cases it'd be appropriate to overwrite a layer and that wouldn't blow up your app.

I agree that what is happening is expected behavior with the way the app works. It assumes that the second user opening the record is there to improve the data and it may recalculate the geopoint question. I've found this to be a valuable reference when designing forms that will be re-opened by editors or reviewers: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-blog/survey123-tricks-of-the-trade-calculation-modes/ba-p/1206967 I wonder if using 'calculationMode=whenEmpty' for your geopoint field would then make it work as you'd like?

Have you tried using the Create Sample Template button under the Manage Templates window? I've always found that very useful for troubleshooting. If the sample template works OK maybe you can identify any differences in closing and opening tags and things like that. Also it might be worth posting more of your xlsform and template here in case there are additional complicating factors that aren't apparent from what you've shared so far. Hope this helps!

I'm interested to hear what people contribute because I've found it to be not as intuitive or well documented as you might expect. Apologies if this is too basic, but we had an aha moment when we had a Pro project on our desktop PCs, then right-clicked Map in the table of contents and chose Save As Offline Service Definition. Then used the service definition to publish the service on the server via ArcGIS Server Manager. You have to be at a more recent version of Pro to have this functionality. I know this probably won't get you all the way where you need to get to but it's a start I hope!

Could it be something as simple as the sharing settings of your web map or its contents? If you haven't tried it already, I've found it helpful to have S123 create the sample template, and then as long as that works correctly, make incremental changes to that sample template until you find what "breaks" it. Sorry if you're already past that point and this is redundant.

I think you're going to have to provide a lot more details about what you're trying to achieve, what you've done already and what's not working for you. Then I'm sure you'll get some helpful responses.

Hi, at the risk of stating the obvious it seems that something went quite wrong when you published the update to your survey, which I'm sure has happened to many of us. If you happen to have any copies/screenshots of the xlsx form in its before and after state that might help to figure out what happened. Or even a more detailed write-up of what you changed. I don't quite understand why the main feature service would have problems but the view based on it would seem to work OK, but I guess that can happen -- I'd almost hope that if you come back to it after a break and log in fresh to AGOL, things would have righted themselves. Could you expand on why you can't update the view layer? Are you trying that and are running up against a problem? I have to admit I find the editing of view layers non-intuitive since it was overhauled but maybe if you could edit it, that would help. Finally, maybe you could try this -- take your xlsx form and publish a whole new survey and see how that works. If all is good, at least you have the option of adopting that as your production one (as long as you can bring across the data from the old one if you need to). Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and start afresh instead of trying to diagnose what happened to an existing survey.

I haven't confirmed this for myself yet, but can't you use ArcGIS Online as the way of keeping the local copies in sync? Maybe it's worth trying this: -On the Collaborate page of the Survey when you're looking at it in your browser, click Update Survey on the left and share it with your colleague(s) using a shared update group. -Then, in each of those colleague's Survey123 Connect, I'd expect the survey to be available to them, and if they use the Refresh button on that survey's thumbnail that would then download the latest version from the cloud for them to work on and potentially update. Hope this might work for you, or I'm happy to hear feedback about why it doesn't!

Hi, are you using a custom report template? If yes, have you tried going to Manage Templates and then creating a Sample Template? If the sample template works, then you could compare the sample to the custom one and maybe identify the problem. This technique has worked for me in the past.

I have a survey that's hosted by my organization and is shared via a group with members of around 5 other AGOL organizations. A big part of the survey is revisiting surveys that have already been created, by finding them in the Inbox and updating the data. I would like to limit it so that if you're part of AGOL organization A, the Inbox only shows you surveys created by a member of organization A, and so on. So far I've tried to make use of the user's email address that was automatically populated as part of the data captured when a survey is first created, but the Inbox query expression doesn't seem to like substrings. Anyone have a clever idea about how to achieve what I'm working on? I know that when the Inbox is opened or refreshed, the Survey123 application 'knows' about the logged-in user's username and email address using ${username} and ${email}, but there's nothing similar for their organization, correct? Thanks.

I would double-check the settings of the hosted feature layer. If you're the data owner then maybe you're able to do certain things with it that another user can't. It may be a check box buried deep in the settings. I like to set up a test user that has the same permissions as the field users and then it can be easier to figure it out if you can "see what they see". (Although this may be not quite so relevant if it's publicly shared data but worth bearing in mind).

My fix was to make that cell in column U in the xlsform blank. I didn't change it to null or anything, I just made it empty, and then republished the survey. It seemed to fix the error, but to be honest I don't know if it's considered good practice. Interestingly, I don't see esriFieldTypePolygonZ in the dropdown list I would use in that cell, but maybe that doesn't matter.

Hi, I got the same error last week, and the solution to this question helped me fix it: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-questions/s123-error-occurred-while-generating-report/m-p/1100036 The binding for my geopoint field was incorrect in my survey design (which didn't cause a problem a few months ago). Once I fixed it and republished the survey, the error went away. Hope this might help.

My custom map uses this syntax: ${SITE_GEOGRAPHY|mapSettings: “<the id of a web map here>”:5000 |size:600:400} In case that's helpful (the use of a different web map adds an extra dimension too I guess). Also in the last few days I had to check the bindings of the geopoint fields in the xlsform for the survey. Turned out I had my geopoint listed as a number, and it used to not be an issue but apparently Esri introduced stricter checking of these things recently, and I got an error similar to yours. I hope either of these things help - I've been knee deep in similar issues the last few days!

Hi, No, there are no indexes set up on those fields so far. Thanks for sending that info, that's got to be worth a try. Hope to report back with progress. Thanks a lot, Matt
