I have the same issue. I'm making a task tool, driven by py tools. The metadata object remains read only. I can make my own metadata object and populate it, but can't copy and save it in the map metadata object. The Map Metadata object remains read only. This happens when using a script tool in ArcGIS Pro, or when running py via idle with ArcGIS Pro closed. m = aprx.activeMap
m.name = Title #set the map elements name to the same as the title
# create empty metadata object and populate it with our varibles
new_md = md.Metadata()
new_md.title = 'Title'
new_md.tags = 'Tag1, Tag2'
new_md.summary = 'Summary'
new_md.description = 'Description'
new_md.credits = 'My Credits'
activemap_metadata = md.Metadata(m) #the metadata object for the active map
if activemap_metadata.isReadOnly:
arcpy.AddMessage("the metadata object for the active map is read only")
else:
activemap_metadata.copy(new_md)
activemap_metadata.save()

We are using ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1. Like everyone else above we sometimes have issues. One trend is when people go offline in a completely disconnected environment, things like modifying symbols are painfully slow, some tools and functions like merge, are slow too. Maybe Esri have entwined something with the user profile, which goes Muppet show when roaming.

.. I'd like to use py to automate the above. I'd like to back up all runtime geodatabase, then programaticllay replicate changes against a local master, and pass the runtime geodatabase back.

I need to read the map objects spatialReference properties. Picture that it's 2019 and Esri have GIS Software where you can't read spatial reference of a map. aprx_object = arcpy.mp.ArcGISProject(aprx) m = aprx_object.listMaps() for mp in m: ID = 0 mapname = mp.name mp_projection = mp.spatialReference() #

ArcPad is essential for our solution. Our folks in the fully disconnected out back of Australia need self determination to create feature class, and even swap data between users (including taking shapefiles off their handsets and giving it to helicopter teams). There's resistance to go to ArcGIS Pro (which we have purchased) because it does not have ArcPad support. ArcGIS Collector is a great app, but for our GIS professionals it's limited.

We use ArcGIS Collector, which is good but limited especially in the fully disconnected outback of Australia. Having GPS support in ArcGIS Pro would give us the ability to do more, including business critical functions.

I've used formatting tags in the application since 2002, however they are not something that can be used across platform: ie in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise Portal, and Collector. Arcade is the future and will have cross platform support, so it makes sense to ask for heavily used functions.

The text function's in Arcade are great, it would be even better with Subscript and Superscript support. ie Subscript() and Superscript() We create a lot of lithology maps that are labeled with two bits of text, the second bit of text is always subscript. ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise Portal both utilize Arcade. The currently deployed formatting tags are limited to the applications and are outdated.

We have tens of thousands of feature services in hosted services (Esri Data Stores) that are not sync enabled. Our users make web maps for use in Collector with these services (and others). The tool should work like the analyse base map tool, reporting at a layer level. i.e. your WMS layer from the government can't be synced.. It should also have the option to reconfigure internal services (sync enable).

All of our hosted feature services have disappeared in collector, they are visible in the Portal For ArcGIS web maps and are editable. We are using ArcGIS Server 10.6 with a federated Portal for ArcGIS 10.6 with Esri Data Stores 10.4? Are others having this issue?
